Shi Feiyang silently waited at Qiao Mountain as time slowly trickled by, feeling the interior of the mountain, within the Holy Mausoleum, where the ministers of Emperor Xuanyuan had joined forces thousands of years ago to set up prohibitions that were gradually losing their power.
Finally, the appointed day and hour arrived, after nightfall, and it entered the hour of the pig.
Having bathed and changed clothes early, Shi Feiyang burned incense and prayed in the Xuanyuan Hall.
Another quarter of an hour passed, and thunder boomed in the sky incessantly. The whole dome of the sky vibrated as if countless gods of thunder were splitting the heavens and simultaneously striking, causing all the billions of living beings on earth to be chilled to the marrow and lie hidden.
Immediately afterward, fierce winds arose, and a torrential downpour ensued; lightning interweaved into a net, flickering for a moment, until the exact hour of the pig arrived, when thousands and thousands of rays of light surged from the ground, piercing straight into the sky during a rainy night.
Shi Feiyang employed his Escape Skill to sink into the ground. These days, he had already familiarized himself with the interior of Qiao Mountain, separated the earth's energy, quickly arrived at the passageway, and rode the escaping light forward until he reached the end. Ahead was a vast and dark stone gate, carved with reliefs from Ancient Times on its surface. Two braziers sat to the left and right, igniting automatically when sensing the arrival of a living person.
Shi Feiyang waved his hand to push open the door, and inside was the inner chamber, about eight or nine acres in size, square in shape, with all four walls carved with many ancient battle scenes. Directly opposite was a long stone platform a dozen yards in length, with a hanging sarcophagus behind it—Emperor Xuanyuan's shed carapace rested upon it. To the left and right stood several figures in helms and armor, holding halberds and wearing bows, all of them being ministers of Emperor Xuanyuan from Ancient Times. Each one looked as if they might come to life at any moment, indistinguishable from living people, all with eyes cast down, motionless.
Shi Feiyang looked at all this but did not walk inside.
Something was not right!
He closed his eyes, about to cast a spell when the "Emperor Xuanyuan" and his ministers all came to life, shouting in unison, "Disgraceful descendant! How dare you enter my chamber to rob the tomb and dig graves! A crime deserving of death, you should be cast into Avici Hell!"
Emperor Xuanyuan struck out with a pair of golden cymbals aimed at Shi Feiyang, while the ministers on either side raised their hands, throwing their swords, halberds, blades, and spears his way. Those with both hands on their bows shot arrows one after another.
Shi Feiyang suddenly opened his eyes, and with a wave of his hand, sent out Suiren's Drill, striking right upon the golden cymbals, "clang clang" ringing out a series of jarring crashes that made one's teeth grind, and the two cymbals exploded into Five-Colored Flames.
As he sent out Suiren's Drill, nine beams of Demon Light flew out from behind him as well; the Nine Heavenly Demon Slaying Immortal Swords emerged together, turning into nine red rainbows, ensnaring all the various weapons flying through the air and crushing them to pieces in a cacophony of snaps and crunches.
Shi Feiyang shouted loudly, "Xin Ru Nun! How dare you impersonate Emperor Xuanyuan, you are the one deserving of death and should be cast into Avici Hell!" He pointed a finger, and the Nine Heavenly Demon Slaying Immortal Swords turned into nine bloody long rainbows, swirling as they shot toward the hanging coffin's "Emperor Xuanyuan," intending to chop it to pieces.
The "Emperor Xuanyuan" showed no resistance whatsoever, and the surrounding ministers did not interfere at all. They had remained still ever since the previous outbreak, like dolls.
The nine Demon Swords stopped abruptly, half an inch from the "Emperor Xuanyuan."
"No, this is Emperor Xuanyuan!"
Shi Feiyang recalled the Demon Swords and held the Zhou Tianyu Light Disc in his left hand, stepping with the Yu Step, his right hand forming seals. The three needles on the Light Disc spun rapidly, and with a "swoosh," they pointed in one direction. A ray of colored light shot out from the needle, speeding straight ahead while Shi Feiyang's Nine Heavenly Demon Slaying Immortal Swords shot out simultaneously.
There was previously an empty spot there, but as the Zhou Tianyu Light Disc's needle's light and the Immortal Slaying Swords cleaved through, a large golden light burst forth from nowhere, revealing a Buddha statue made of pure gold. Its chest was hit by the needle's beam, followed by nine swords plunging into its head and body, with fresh blood flowing from the wounds.
"Blood of Buddha? You're using this to curse me?"
Blood of Buddha is one of Buddhism's "Five Grave Offenses," akin to patricide, matricide, killing an Arhat, and disrupting the harmony of the Sangha. It belongs to the gravest sins, unforgivable and immense demerits that lead to falling into the Abyss Hell, beyond redemption!
Shi Feiyang, however, laughed and said, "Xin Ru Nun, you hail from a side path, have practiced Buddhism for a thousand years, yet your nature is still so extreme. By using this method against me, you have really descended to the lower vehicle!"
He activated the nine Demon Swords to grind the Buddha statue to dust, then retracted them. The Zhou Tianyu Light Disc once again shot out colorful light, aimed at another corner, instantly pinning down another Buddha statue. The Nine Heavenly Demon Slaying Immortal Swords followed and crushed the Buddha statue to dust without hesitation.
"I don't believe in Buddhism, so what use is your curse on me? Not only do I not believe in Buddhism, but I also don't believe in Hell!" He continued to drive the Zhou Tianyu Light Disc to find the next target.
Suddenly, the entire tomb chamber burst into golden light, filled with Buddha Light, and then from the niches in the walls on either side, many crossbow arrows shot out swiftly towards Shi Feiyang.
This was the Innate One Qi Divine Crossbow placed by the ministers thousands of years ago when constructing the mausoleum. Now, at the interchange of the Hai and Zi hours, a great number of Immortal Arrays in the Holy Mausoleum had failed, leaving only this Divine Crossbow as the last barrier. Those who sought the treasures could not be ordinary; they must pass the test of the Divine Crossbow.
In the original text, Li Jingxu spent forty-nine days of hard work helping Yang Jin refine a Great Yan Divine Talisman, which, once cast, could nail these Divine Crossbows in place. In the end, it wasn't needed; Yang Jin was late, and the Wuhua Family's three Demon Corpses had arrived earlier, taking away the Xuanyuan Two Treasures. The Divine Crossbows, having been triggered, also failed to harm those three Demon Corpses.
Xin Ru Nun had actually entered the Holy Mausoleum a step ahead, just a moment before the Immortal Arrays ceased to function, which was only the time it took Shi Feiyang to offer incense and prayers. She used Buddhist Law to subdue the Divine Crossbows, preventing them from activating, then stayed in the burial cave, using Buddhist Law to shift the scenery, making Shi Feiyang take the real for the fake and the fake for the real.
Earlier, Shi Feiyang had believed that the Yellow Emperor and his ministers were real, but in fact, they were fake. The plan was to strike simultaneously as he approached to kowtow. At that moment, Xin Ru Nun would also release Buddha Light from the shadows, suppressing Shi Feiyang with the weight of Mount Taishan, pinning him like fish on a chopping board to be shattered into pieces and bones by the ministers' attack. Even if his Primordial Spirit wasn't harmed, his physical body would be first destroyed.
Unexpectedly, Shi Feiyang saw through the deception. He hadn't even entered when he sensed something amiss and cast a spell to counterattack, breaking her Buddha Light illusion.
But Xin Ru Nun's illusion had another layer of transformation; just when Shi Feiyang thought the Yellow Emperor and his ministers were fake, in fact, they turned out to be real!
The truth was, the ministers on both sides were controlled by Xin Ru Nun's spell, turned into puppet-like creatures to attack Shi Feiyang. Meanwhile, the Yellow Emperor's remains in the center remained untouched. She only conjured a false body in front of the remains and released her own Demonic Destruction Golden Cymbal to attack Shi Feiyang. Once Shi Feiyang destroyed the golden cymbal, thinking the Yellow Emperor was fake, if he destroyed both the Yellow Emperor and his ministers, he would bear the sin of disrespecting ancestors and defying human relations. His starting point of Daoist Technique was the Emperor's Golden Talisman; the Yellow Emperor was both his ancestor and his teacher. Xin Ru waited for him to do just that and then cast a spell to curse him, condemning him to Abyss Hell!
Shedding the Blood of Buddha was false, disrespecting ancestors was true!
Shi Feiyang saw the peculiarities in time, retracted his Demon Sword, and did not harm a single minister, using the Zhou Tianyu Light Disc to find her substitute and consecutively destroyed two Buddha statues.
These Buddha statues, also refined by Xin Ru over a thousand years, totaled twenty-four in number, each representing a different Buddha's Dharma Body. Each Buddha had founded a Buddha Country Pure Land. She cultivated the Buddhist Techniques of all twenty-four Buddhas, appeared to listen to Buddhist teachings within the twenty-four Buddha Country Pure Lands, and all twenty-four Buddhas were also equivalent to her incarnations!
This time, in order to deal with Shi Feiyang, she had gone all out and used her wits, bringing all twenty-four incarnations and entering the Holy Mausoleum first, instantly setting the illusion to lure Shi Feiyang into the trap. She nearly destroyed Shi Feiyang's physical body, leaving just his Primordial Spirit easy to deal with... However, she didn't expect that instead, Shi Feiyang would blow up two of her incarnations.
In fact, according to Xin Ru's Divine Power, it would have been best to just take the Xuanyuan Two Treasures after entering. However, the Nine Suspicions Tripod was as heavy as a mountain, and no matter how great the Divine Power, it could not be lifted. It was necessary first to take the Heavenly Treasure Mirror and shine it into the tripod, subduing the Chaos Core, before it could be lifted.
But at this moment, Shi Feiyang took action.
Xin Ru Nun's pride soared high; even when she was known as Xin Ruyu, she had bowed to no one, daring to challenge the master of the Stone God Palace who had achieved great success in the Blood God Scripture. Now that she had cultivated Buddhism for a thousand years, although her fiery temperament had subsided, she was unwilling to leave with just the Heavenly Mirror after Shi Feiyang had killed her chosen successor, Dragon Slayer Shen Xiu. Today, she took matters into her own hands, intent on slaying Shi Feiyang. As for the mirror and the tripod, she relinquished them to Yang Jin.
Therefore, she did not simply take the Heavenly Mirror and leave. Instead, she rapidly produced Buddha Light and conjured the Buddha Country Illusion Realm in an instant, aiming to lure Shi Feiyang inside and eliminate him.
At that moment, realizing she could not deceive Shi Feiyang, she decided to activate all of the Innate One Qi Divine Crossbows mounted on the walls. Simultaneously, her twenty-two avatars materialized. The sleeping chamber was spacious enough to accommodate the sudden appearance of twenty-two golden Buddhas, each towering over three zhang tall and assuming various poses. As they manifested, the chamber was flooded with Buddha Light like a surging tide. The twenty-two great Buddhas formed seals and chanted the mantra "Amitabha Buddha" in unison, conjuring a Buddha Seal made of golden light.
The heart seals from the twenty-two Buddha Country Worlds struck simultaneously, each with a power no less than that of the Great Vajra Giant Spirit Divine Palm wielded by Bai Mei Zen Master!
In terms of mana, Shi Feiyang's skills fell far short of Xin Ru's. Xin Ru's mana among the fringe practitioners had already been powerful enough to rank her as one of the Cosmic Six Strange alongside the two elders of the vast wilderness. She had even challenged the master of the Stone God Palace for a duel. With a thousand years of additional Buddhist cultivation, the Buddha Seals she struck out were so powerful they could shatter the very void!
Shi Feiyang clasped his hands to form a seal, bit the tip of his tongue to spray Essence Blood, and summoned the Nine Heavenly Demon Slaying Immortal Swords before him. In an instant, a blood-red sword rainbow interwove into a net. Combining the Nine Heavens Yuan Yang Great Technique, the Emperor's Golden Talisman, and Demonic Path Skills, he exhausted all his lifelong learning. Using the Nine Demon Swords, he constructed the "Immortal Slaying Sword Net," specifically designed to counter monks and nuns. This was indeed a desperate move. As the sword net unfolded, it caught the twenty-two golden Buddha Seals within it, contracted slightly inward, and then exploded outward in a mighty blast!
The Immortal Array of the Holy Mausoleum served to prevent outsiders from entering, and its peripheral powers dissipated, but its true form persisted. The rampaging Buddha Light mingled with the Demon Light, scattering in all directions and triggering the Innate One Qi Primordial and Counter Immortal Arrays that guarded the sleeping chamber. The subsidiary formations opened, the Mother Formation closed, Immortal Energy billowed, auspicious clouds surged, and the explosive force was dissipated.
Shi Feiyang wielded his sword toward the golden Buddha closest to him, a representation of the 'Immovable Venerable Buddha,' Akshobhya Tathagata. In its past life as a Bodhisattva, it had made a grand vow in the presence of Guangmu Tathagata. After eons of cultivation and shared aspirations with devout followers, it had created the "Miao Xi Buddha Country," a world without the Three Evil Paths. The land was flat, soft, and all beings performed good deeds, making it an exceptionally superior environment.
This Dharma Body was a manifestation of Xin Ru delving deep into meditative trance. She envisioned the Heavenly Buddhas and their realms and materialized her Dharma Body in the Miao Xi World. Together with the people and Bodhisattvas of that world, she approached Akshobhya Tathagata to listen to his teachings. Moved by his words, she refined and cultivated the manifestation.
The three-zhang-tall golden body of the Buddha shone brightly, the hands formed seals, and the mouth chanted True Words. Upon the Buddha Palm, golden light coalesced swiftly to form a Seven Treasures Marvel Tree. With a sweep of the hand, the tree fended off the Nine Demon Swords.
The Demon Swords struck the Marvel Tree, clinking and scattering golden light while Demonic Flames soared—yet they only managed to slice off a branch and a few leaves!
At the same time, the other Buddhas turned and began to recast their spells, readying to attack Shi Feiyang with the concentrated Buddha Light again.
