Tie San, the Daoist practitioner, followed a heterodox path. In the past, he had a junior brother who had caused too much killing and found his final calamity difficult to overcome. Later, taking his disciples with him, he converted to Buddhism at Shaolin Temple, where he became a monk, confessed his sins in front of Buddha, and vowed to repay the debts of vengeance over nine lifetimes. Ultimately, he was able to die a peaceful and natural death.
Ever since then, Tie San had established a connection with Shaolin Temple. The monks of Shaolin had a considerable reputation in the secular world of Jianghu, giving rise to many martial arts masters, even being hailed as the number one sect in the world. However, their proficiency in Buddhist divine abilities was not particularly high. They did not have super first-class divine monks like Tian Meng, Zunsheng, or Bai Mei, nor did they have younger-generation monks of the first-class level like Caiwei Monk Zhu Youmu, often bullied by powerful practitioners of evil paths.
When faced with lesser threats, Shaolin Temple could manage on its own. However, facing more formidable foes brought the risk of the temple's destruction.
For instance, when Dharma King Hagenib's disciple came to Central Plains to preach, he took a fancy to the feng shui treasure land of Shaoshi Mountain and blocked the entrance to Shaolin Temple, demanding that the monks there hurry up and scram, as he wanted to convert the place into a Demon Cult dojo and invite the Dharma King to descend.
Incapable of resisting, the Shaolin monks could only burn incense to request Tie San's assistance.
As a result, Tie San and the Western Demon Cult became sworn enemies, taking revenge on each other, and Tie San consecutively killed more than a dozen Demon Cult disciples.
Now, as Tie San faced a great tribulation, Abbot Yuan Guo, the master of Shaolin Temple, alongside the eighteen Golden Arhats of Dharma Cave, came to assist with the Dharma protection ritual.
Eighteen monks formed a circle around Tie San in the center, each holding a strand of Buddha Beads in their left hand and forming different seals with their right, bowing their heads and murmuring the Diamond Sutra. They emitted Buddha Light that connected into one expanse, aiding Tie San in resisting the demons.
The Formless Yin Demon of the Heavenly Tribulation resonated with Tie San's spirit, being formless and invisible, impossible to block with Buddha Light. Tie San himself had to rely on his Dao Level to staunchly withstand it. The primary function of the Buddha Light was to fend off other demonic attacks, such as the demons unleashed by Dharma King Hagenib.
Hagenib, dressed in a red magic robe and golden crown, with bare feet, sat cross-legged on a lotus platform about a meter in size, floating between Heaven and Sea. On his left and right stood disciples, one holding a golden bowl, the other a Treasure Bead.
Within the golden bowl was a type of Demon Fire Poison Sand. Once released, it morphed into a vast expanse of Fire Cloud with swirling sands, each grain carrying a bright red Demonic Flame. It flew above Tie San and poured down like a waterfall, making a rustling sound as the flames flew about, ceaselessly grinding at the treasure umbrella.
Contained within the Treasure Bead were five Formless Yin Demons, specifically targeting the five senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. They transformed into appealing visuals, sounds, scents, flavors, and comforts... creating illusions in every aspect. Once affixed to someone, they could plunge that person into a dominated illusionary world. Unless one possessed great wisdom and determination, escape was impossible.
Hagenib, known as the Dharma King of Great Strength, had also cultivated eight Divine Demons of Strength. He sent two of his disciples through the undersea ley lines to attack from below, while the remaining six were released to directly assault everyone on Yangjiao Island.
The Formless Yin Demons were invisible and intangible, only briefly rippling when they collided with Buddha Light before vanishing again. Meanwhile, the Divine Demons of Strength appeared with white hair and red eyes, bodies dripping blood, at times stretching their heights to surpass tens of meters, towering like numerous story buildings, wildly scratching outside the Buddha Light. Then, they would shrink to about a meter in size, radiating as red light, darting up and down like drills or shuttles, incessantly looking for weaknesses in the protective wall of Buddha Light.
Zen Master Yuan Guo, holding Buddha Beads in front of the eighteen Arhats, sat with closed eyes and lowered eyebrows, seemingly oblivious to his surroundings. As he silently recited scripture and performed the Vajra Zen chant, his body and mind remained unshakable. With his heart immovable, the Buddha Light remained steady, enduring the ceaseless assaults of the demons, both tangible and intangible, unwaveringly standing firm.
Shi Feiyang was witnessing someone transcending the Heavenly Tribulation for the first time, so he observed carefully and intently, hoping to widen his horizons.
He realized that Hagenib wouldn't be able to break through the Buddha Light of the Shaolin monks in a short time. The key issue was Tie San, who was directly facing the Heavenly Tribulation. If he could keep his mind clear and undisturbed by demons, everything would be fine once he endured it. But if he couldn't hold on, and his inner demons rose, then all external demons would be able to invade, rendering the Buddha Light of others useless.
Time slowly passed by. Shi Feiyang glanced at the sky and thought that Geng Kun should have arrived by now. If he didn't come soon, Tie San might be able to safely transcend the tribulation. Of course, it was also possible that Tie San would collapse internally. Despite the distance, Shi Feiyang could see clearly. Tie San's head was drenched in sweat, and the muscles on his face twitched uncontrollably, signaling a fierce internal struggle.
At this moment, a speck of golden light suddenly flew from behind the horizon. In the blink of an eye, it had arrived close by—it was Geng Kun.
Geng Kun looked at the Dharma Platform and the merfolk silk pouch arranged on the water surface, quite pleased. He sneered and said to Shi Feiyang and Xiang Ji, "After I start casting, there will be a great battle. When Tie San is defeated and has no choice but to opt for Soldier Disintegration's reincarnation, he will foolishly hope for the Shaolin monks to protect him on his journey. They will definitely head Southwest. I will intercept them and ensure both his body and soul are destroyed. That Iron Umbrella is a treasure; you two go and take advantage of the situation to grab it for me. Once you have the Umbrella, don't wait for me, head straight back to Roc Bay. Make sure no one else gets it!"
Shi Feiyang and Xiang Ji acknowledged their orders—one diving through the water, the other wielding a green blade and skimming the sea's surface—to hurry toward Yangjiao Island.
The two were still a dozen miles from Yangjiao Island when suddenly, a sound like the earth tearing apart thundered in front of them. The very space seemed to rip asunder, and Yangjiao Island crumbled into pieces before their eyes!
This was the most powerful of the Heavenly Forbidden Techniques from the "Chi You Three Disks Scripture". Shi Feiyang had first taken rocks from the Ley lines beneath Yangjiao Island to create a miniature bonsai in the shape of the island. After refining it with a secret technique and Geng Kun's spell casting, the real island promptly collapsed into ash. In the blink of an eye, the island that spanned several kilometers and rocks that had withstood the ocean's rage for millions of years turned into ash. All plants, rocks, soil, and dust—everything was reduced to dust in mere moments!
Tie San and others were conducting their Dharma on the island when suddenly the ground beneath them vanished. The island and mountain submerged to a depth of ten-odd Zhang turned to ash, dispersed in the water below and swept up by the wind above, becoming a thick billow of dust that engulfed everyone.
"Now's the time!" Shi Feiyang emerged from the water while Xiang Ji used the Spiritual Light Escape Technique, rushing straight for the Iron Umbrella.
The two made their move amidst the dust and smoke, just in time to see a powerful Divine Demon breaking through the Buddha Light and a Formless Yin Demon rushing into Tie San's body.
The Shaolin monks conjured Lotus Thrones beneath them. Master Yuan Guo summoned a lotus throne under Tie San, trying to support him, and chanted, "Amitabha Buddha! Uncle Master, all phenomena are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows, like dew and like lightning, and should be viewed as such! Without attachments, there are no hindrances... All appearances are deceptive, if you see all appearances as non-appearances, you will see the Tathagata..."
He enveloped Tie San within a ray of Buddha Light, striving to protect him. However, tied to his unsteady demeanor, Tie San's past stubbornness and tyranny had caused him to be emotionally unstable. Provocations would quickly lead to rage, pursuing offenders to the ends of the world if slighted.
Normally, this disposition seemed irrelevant when his power and luck were strong, but now, with the Tribulation imminent and a Heavenly Demon entering his heart, he completely lost his composure, teetering on the brink of collapse. Thus, the external Buddha Light seemed superfluous, allowing the invading demons free passage. With the Heavenly Demon from the Tribulation and the Five Elements Yin Demon from Hagenib taking him over, defeat was inevitable.
Hagenib was delighted at this sight, knowing that this was Geng Kun's doing. He had anticipated Geng Kun's actions and knew Geng Kun would send disciples to snatch the Iron Umbrella. Thus, he pre-emptively ordered the powerful Divine Demon to grab the Iron Umbrella from afar and bring it before him.
