Mana Wells

Chapter 109: The Valentine Clan.

Kurt was annoyed about the result of the Minotaur encounter, sure they would listen to him but, Layla was doing something to them. And he really felt he needed to be a part of it. After all the sneaking around with Castle Bright Flame Kurt's guard was on up around Layla. Not that he didn't trust her, she wouldn't hurt him, or anything. He didn't trust what she was doing, he didn't exactly know what she was doing.

But, this time he felt he was playing his part. But he wasn't feeling bad about it. His part today involved Talia, and taking him back to her place, as he wanted to say in his head. I mean, what man wouldn't want a sexy little countess minx around him.

He was expecting a formal event for the trip, the Valatien Clan seemed to like the pageantry more than most. So he was surprised when Talia was waiting for him near his door.

"Ohh you're finally ready?" she said.

"I though you'd make a whole mess out this."

"They wanted to but I convinced them to let me take you myself without all that," she stood up, and did a curtsy, "It is the Valentine's Clan's pleasure to welcome you. Don't worry there will be some of that coming though, if you were missing it"

Kurt gave a laugh and shook his head, and Talia relaxed a little, "okay you did it." Talia rushed to Kurt's arm and gave him a kiss, "Don't worry everyone wants to make you very happy, me most of all."

She grabbed his hand, and pulled him, "so let's go".

They came to to Layla's throne room and Justin greeted them. One at a time he took them, Kurt first then Talia.

They were in a room that was a little dark. There was a Fae fountain in it, one that seemed much more formal and sculpted. A distinct form of a deer like creature with antlers. Most of the wells Kurt had seen were much less in form, Layla's always seemed to fold on itself with a twisting blossoming pattern. But this one just seemed to make the figure's skin crawl, like the pattern of stone was moving along the inanimate stone statue.

"Come on," they ran up and through corridors, to the top of whatever building they were in. The stone work seemed fine and purposely, human made.

They reached the top of what Kurt could see was a tower of a Castle, beyond him he saw a vast land, that ended before the horizon with a cliff end, a massive ocean beyond it.

The valley way green, and there was line across it, soon Kurt saw a box like structure traveling along it

"That the train," said Talia.

"Huh?"

"You see my castle is out here away from the cliff, but see out in the distance there are more of them, we have a train that links us all together to get from one place to another."

"That what that is, the chimney bellowing with with smoke in its front."

Kurt looked up to see where a shadow had come from and above him was a large island floating in mid air, it seemed impossible. Looking into the distance in the ocean another one seemed to float as well.

"Yeah, the floating Island are still a mystery to us as well."

Kurt looked up and thought, yeah, I can jump really high. But probably not that high. You'd have to have wings to get up there or some power that let you fly.

Talia brought her body close to Kurt's and said "I wanted to show you this first, it my favorite spot here."

"Yeah, I feel stupid talking about the view from my place."

"Aww don't be silly, it's not a competition. I'm quite fond of the many views there," she said, biting her lip after.

"So you have a Fae in each castle?"

"Come on now, work? But no, not all of them. I'm not supposed to tell which."

They enjoyed the view for a bit, and Talia said they would eventually have to take the train to the saloon. Which of course, was the largest of castles in the valley, only two were down in the bottom the rest lined the rim. The main castle was set upon the ridge near it highest point, the trains had three exits from there to each side and the center. A closer inspection loaded Kurt realize they had two lanes clockwise one counter clockwise around the valley.

They continued to talk about what they wanted to do, Kurt asked if there was a way to fish on the ocean, and Talia told that could be arranged. Kurt didn't know what to ask to do.

They talked until the sun started to set, and the view's colors made everything more beautiful. They both heard a sound from above them. And a giant dragon had jumped off the floating island, it looked small but Kurt knew it was big. That island was far away.

"Is that a dragon?"

Talia looked up, "what is he?" Talia look to the direction he was heading, "he wasn't suppose to do anything until."

"Until what?" Said Kurt.

"Until you left Kurt," said Talia.

The dragon made a line toward the main castle, it would have been obvious to anyone where it was going.

"What?"

"Like you're going to see… the dragon and us, together. The Valentine Clan's…secret. Don't ask Kurt, this has nothing to do with us, whoop we found you had a movable gate, whoops you found we have a dragon…sort of."

Kurt look at Talia, and grabbed the back of her head and pulled it closer, "I didn't see anything, And I want nothing to do with whatever it was I didn't see." And kissed her.

Talia smiled back after blushing a little, "don't do that to me."

"Do what?"

"Make me think I'm the only one in the world."

Kurt came to her, and grabbed her waist, pulled closed and smiled, "Why? Have you met anyone else?"

Talia laughed, and so did Kurt, then she rested her head on Kurt's shoulder, "no, never. Just you."

"All it took me was another world to find you, what's just one more with just us?" said Kurt gave her a firm embrace and they watched the sun set together.
