The two continued for a while, and went inside the out post and were welcomed by the guards there. And got to a vantage point to see the sight, Kurt enjoyed the pastry that they had gotten together and the man was still close behind them. Never coming to say anything, but appeared to be growing a little impatience. But it couldn't be that important if he didn't come up to them right?
Talia was wearing a short blue dress that accented her features very nicely, the fabric hugged her body, barely containing some of the curves.. But he kept feeling off because the man was there. They weren't getting any privacy. Not exactly what one wants when you have a sexy little minx with a beautiful scene in front of them. Really puts a sour note on the whole mood. Talia kept trying to ignore the man, but really they both were kind of disappointed with the watcher. He wasn't exactly doing anything wrong, but he needed to start reading the room a little.
"Come on," said Kurt, "just let him say what he's here for, maybe he'll leave after."
"Yeah maybe you're right," said Talia, "I was hoping to avoid all this for a bit longer, it's probably someone trying to invite you or something."
Talia waved the man to come closer finally. And he approached. He was in the full clan attire, smartly dressed. With a purple sash that probably meant something that Kurt was unaware of. Armed as they would normally be, a simple sword.
"So, you're here for a reason right?" said Talia
"Umm, yes," said the man, "it's a little delicate." said the messenger.
"Ohh, and we couldn't wait until Kurt was gone."
"No, it's mostly about him."
"Why me?" said Kurt.
"So who is it trying to suck up, which one of them sent you."
"It was Lord Darien, he say he has made himself available to Lord Kurt if he wishes."
Talia's face suddenly turned flat, "I must have misheard you."
"I'm afraid not."
"Lord Darien, made himself available? What does that even mean?"
"He was very specific."
"Umm, I'm a little lost. Who is Lord Darien?" said Kurt.
Talia turned to Kurt with a shocked expression, "it's the dragon Kurt, Lord Darien is the dragon. Why did you just sit there and wait? How in the world is this, you fool."
"That's the thing, Lord Darien was very specific that he was in no way summoning Kurt, or that we should do anything to bother him."
"He did not."
"My lady," said the messenger, "I understand your confusion."
"Lord Darien has never made himself available to anyone, he is not known for his patience. What if he…I don't even know. How could you just not tell me?"
"I was instructed very clearly not to bother you."
"Wait, so the dragon is waiting on me?" said Kurt.
"It appears so," said the messenger.
"But I've never even seen a dragon, up close at least, why would he, how does he even know me?"
"It took some time, but we are very sure it's you he was talking about, there is no one else that was new and in the area other than you. He didn't know your name if you're worried about that."
"And the King, he's probably going mad isn't he?"
"He is….stressed."
"I can imagine," said Talia, "you thought just wait until we ask."
"I had very clear instructions, my lady."
Kurt began to ask some basic questions about the dragon. The Valentine Clan had an arrangement with the great beast. For some protection against the larger monsters that would attack, they would provide sacrifices. Which basically amounted to the clan feeding the dragon. They apparently had a regular schedule that was supposed to not include the time Kurt was there. But since the dragon had specifically talked about him there was no reason to hide it, as Kurt mentioned what if he simply went and asked the dragon about it.
"So this dragon wants to see me," said Kurt.
"I'm not exactly sure."
"Huh?"
"Well, it is also clear to me that you could simply ignore it, the dragon seemed to like that idea as well," said the messenger.
"You expect us to ignore this?" said Talia.
"Well, I am not sure what to think, this has never happened before," said the messenger, "I was hoping Kurt might be able to shed some light on this. But he appears just as surprised as the rest of us."
"I didn't even know there was a dragon until yesterday," said Kurt.
The three continued to talk but ended up getting nowhere. The dragon was waiting, or not. It seemed like everything was up to Kurt. He didn't really feel that way. It was obviously causing some disruption to their clan.
"So I guess we got to go then," said Kurt.
"Yeah, I think that would be wise."
There was already a train car waiting for them, it was just their car and the engine, they wanted to make the trip as quick as possible for them.
The train car was just as luxurious as the last one they were in, the messenger also came with them this time, but he kept to himself. There wasn't anything more for him to say.
"So how does this work?"
"Well the main castle has a rookery, the dragon usually will be there when he speaks to us, which isn't very often mind you."
"And we just walk up?"
"Basically, there is a platform and stuff, you'll see we've got some time, it will still take a while to even get there."
Talia got up close to Kurt, put his arm around her, "can't we just enjoy the ride and try to forget about this, I swear we can't just have a normal thing can we."
"I don't know, it's kind of exciting, seeing a dragon."
"Every little boy's dream?"
"Yeah, kind of like being some countess with a castle is for some little girl."
