Becoming an Accidental God in a New World

Chapter 127: Ch 127: Treasured Guests- Part 2

"Please wait a minute. Since you are designated as our extremely important guests, please allow us to provide you with a guard to guide you along. It would tarnish our reputation if anything were to happen to you."

The front receptionist told us and his eyes twinkled. I did not trust him immediately, but rejecting him would also cause too much of a mess…or so I felt.

Everyone left the decision for me to make and with a deep breath I decided that we could entertain a guide…for now.

"Alright. I hope the guide you choose for me would be a good person."

I told the receptionist and he let out a sigh of relief before he snapped his fingers. A huge man, twice the size of my current self, appeared. He looked ragged and gave us a look as if we were beneath his attention.

His eyes quickly found mine and he extended his hand toward me immediately.

"It's nice to meet you, sir. I am your guard for today. Please, follow my instructions and we will not have any problem."

The guard squeezed my hand tightly, causing my bones to creak. I almost flinched but made a neutral and calm expression, not showing anything on my face currently.

It caused the guard in front of me to flinch just slightly before he turned his head away and decided to start heading inside.

"Tsk, he's being so rude to you, shopkeeper. Just let me know if you need me to do anything to him. I will teach him a lesson he won't easily forget…but only if you want me to."

Leo whispered to me as we started walking. He did not seem happy with our guard, but was putting up with it for the sake of entrance into the library.

I gave him a small smile in return.

"Sure, you are welcome to do what you want if our situation becomes rough. But let's just hope things do not come down to that."

I told Leo as we continued to walk deeper into the library. All around us, the people had stopped to look at us and whisper behind their books.

But even though these people were whispering, their voices were loud enough to tell me what they were talking about.

"Who are these people?"

"They're being escorted inside. They are either criminals or very special guests."

"What crime do you think they committed to be given such harsh treatment?"

"Maybe it's not a crime after all. Maybe it is just a precaution to make sure nothing happens to these guests."

The people around us were already judging us for all our worth. Their eyes continued to drill into our skulls, wondering what we had done to get escorted like this.

But neither us, nor our escort seemed to pay much attention to the gossip. He kept walking until we entered the corridor and I discreetly took out my phone to check where we were going.

The more we walked, the more I felt like we were going somewhere else except the chamber where we were supposed to have a conversation with their god.

I did not want to call out the guard for such a thing, but I felt like we would end up at the wrong place if I did not call out now.

Cough.

"Excuse me, but I think we are headed toward the wrong direction. The god of the groove we have an audience with is on the other side."

I reminded the guard and I was sure that the guard knew that as well. But he gave me a frustrated sigh as he looked at me with contempt-filled eyes.

"Mister, I am not taking you to our god, but to a professor. Even if I take you to our god, he's a being beyond human comparison. You won't be able to understand his bestowed wisdom. That's why we need the professor's knowledge."

The guard told me. The way he talked to me made me look like I was a small and young child once more who was being lectured for no particular reason.

'What an annoyance. Should I object right now—?'

Before I even had a chance to think this over, Leo scoffed out loud, causing the guard to turn our way with an angry frown.

"What? Do you have something to say about all this, pretty boy? What do you even know about the struggles of the groove and the high priests in their pursuit of knowledge?"

The man asked, causing Leo to roll his eyes at him.

"You all take your professor's words too literally. Those people are also humans and have human desires. You should learn to think for yourself as well a little."

Leo's words were provoking and the guard immediately flushed before he turned around and grabbed Leo's shirt in anger.

"Y-You little shit—"

The man looked like he was about to hit Leo, but Leo grabbed his arm and squeezed. The guard was not as strong as Leo was, especially in the groove that directly powered Leo.

He had no choice but to let go of Leo when Leo forced him to.

"I do not think it is a good idea for you to try and play with me like this. Otherwise, I will not be able to guarantee the safety of your wrist. Make sure you don't…lose it or something. I have heard that regrowing a limb is very painful."

Leo patted the man on the back before he started walking.

Since I had already started this mess, I jumped in to speak before anyone could regain their thoughts.

"Leo, we need to head this way. I can feel the god of the groove. He is that way and he is calling for us."

That was bullshit. I could sense a presence, but the main reason I knew where the god of the groove was with certainty was because of my phone.

The map was leading me right to my destination.

"W-Wait—! You cannot just enter the forbidden area—"

The guard tried to stop us, but he ended up clutching his shoulder as he tried to come after us. His desperate eyes told me that he was not going to give up that easily.

Unfortunately for him, he was starting to get a little bit annoying at this point and I needed him to calm down.

Fortunately, his arm hurt him too much for him to walk fast and catch us.

I decided to walk a little faster, causing the kids to walk even faster as well. The guard looked frustrated and followed us all the way until we reached the groove's heart and their god's chamber.

[You have entered the communication zone. Connecting to the god of the groove.]

The system told me and I felt my heart feel lighter at the message. Before I could open the door and enter, the guard gritted his teeth and made a decision.

"Tsk, I warned you not to do this, but you don't listen to me. Now, I do not have a choice but to take matters into my own hands. If you want to blame someone, you should blame yourself for it."

The guard told us as he charged after us to try and attack me. I was ready to step out of the way when needed.

But I did not need to even move as the walls started to move and smacked the guard in the stomach, causing him to go flying back.

Everyone looked shocked but I did not feel shocked. Somehow, I felt like I knew this was going to happen.

"T-This is…our god? Why is he doing this…?"

The guard asked as he clutched his stomach to prevent it from hurting even more. His wide eyes looked at me in a questioning manner, wondering and asking who I was for their god to react like this.

I decided to kneel in front of the fallen man and look at him in the face.

"I told you before, right? I am a guest of your god. You should have respected me when I told you this. But don't worry. You are not significant enough for me to care about. So I will forget about our encounter."

I told the man and his mouth opened and closed, wondering what he should say to me about this. In the end, he decided that he did not want to say anything and turned his head the other way.

With that man out of the way, it was easy for us to enter the final room where the god of the groove waited for us.

The moment we stepped inside, the door sealed shut behind us, cutting off all sound from the corridor.

A strange warmth washed over my skin, like the entire room was breathing. Leo tensed beside me, but I kept walking forward, unable to resist the overwhelming pull guiding my steps.

And then, the feeling faded and the god of the groove appeared in front of us.
