Lord Of Puppets

Chapter 124 – Adventurers VS Golem Dungeon – Round 2.

Mowiorano kingdom preparations were finished.

Although they haven't found out the origin of the bombs, they understood that they couldn't delay the attack anymore because of the golems starting to get more active.

On the first look, it may seem as something positive.

The forest was their territory and if the battle was brough out in the open, the adventurers may gain some advantage.

However, the problem was that the golems were unpredictable as well as the fact that there was clearly somebody leading these golems from the shadows, controlling them.

At this point, the territory was straight up abandoned.

The villages were destroyed and people that once lived here were either dead or ended up becoming criminals to survive.

So, there shouldn't be any problem with the golems running around outside the forest…. But here is a political issue.

Before, Garmfon kingdom was trying to make sure that the dungeon would not affect large area, since the territory itself was located right next to borders between two nations.

However, now the ones in control were the elven kingdom, meaning that the Garmfon kingdom could use the said political excuse to harass the other kingdom, hindering their conquest of the dungeon if not just trying to reclaim their ownership.

And there is also the image problem.

The elven kingdom promised to deal with the dungeon on their name.

They want to show off and deliver their promise.

If they don't and let the situation be "unstable", the Garmfon kingdom will not only gain opening to get some revenge, but it would also damage the reputation of the Mowiorano kingdom.

Therefore, the adventurers were ordered to deal with the problem "inside" the forest.

It may seem like stupid decision and indeed it was…. But again, the Mowiorano kingdoms were the employes and they had to fallow the orders.

And so, the adventurers marched into the forest, but this time they were fully aware of the fact that the enemy will be planning something and that these 'bombs' could once again made an appearance, which ended up causing the entire army to be put at high alert at the all the time while the adventurers that specializes in the magic detection were on the lookout, trying to find any weird sources of mana nearby.

"….Hm…. I guess the golems don't care about the living environments of this place…." – said the adventurer, whom noticed the damaged trees and ground which ended up being wrecked by the past war between the dungeon and the Garmfon kingdom.

"This is the area we fought last time…." – said the nervous adventurer at front as he looked around.

"We – WAIT!" – shouted the man suddenly, alarming the people behind him who then noticed why the man shouted.

The golems showed themselves in front of the adventurers.

"PREPARE FOR COMBAT! AND KEEP WATCH!" – shouted the adventurer in heavy armor.

"THE ENEMY IS COMING AND WE STILL HAVEN'T FOUND THE ENEMY TRAPS!"

"FIGHTERS FOCUS ON DEALING WITH THE GOLEMS!"

"SCOUTS AND LOOK OUT FOCUS ON TRYING TO SPOT THE BOMBS!"

And like that, the war once again resumed.

The golems aimed with their crossbows, unleashing their hail of bolts at the adventurers, who just raised up their defenses, blocking the hail of the attacks.

The adventurer in turn counter attacked with their own attacks, bombarding the golems with either arrows or spells as the creatures made their way towards the adventurers.

And before long, the monsters came close enough for the invaders to get a closer look at the enemy.

The adventurers realized two things instantly about the enemy.

First, was that the good chunk of the monsters that they were seeing right in front of them was already damaged or partially destroyed, while the other half looked completely brand new.

"!"

(The info was correct! The golems don't have recovery ability!) – thought the heavily armored adventurer.

"FOCUS ON TAKING DOWN THE DAMAGED ONES FIRST! THE FASTER WE DESTORY THEIR NUMBERS, THE FASTER WE WILL TAKE CONTROL OVER THE FLOW OF BATTLE!" – shouted the heavily armored adventurer as the army of golems finally made their way towards the adventurers.

And just like that, the war has once again raged on inside the golem forest.

And this time, the results flow was instantly taken over by the adventurers.

Reason? They were prepared.

They knew how the golem fight and how they operated.

And their tactics didn't changed much since the last encounter.

Not only that, but the sheer number of veteran adventurers and C rank adventures were making their presence known.

On the other hand, the golems were at the disadvantage.

Adventurers that survived the previous war could recover, but the golems? They didn't have any ability to repair themselves, meaning that a lot of already damaged golems were quickly taken out, resulting in the golems' numbers to quickly start dropping.

However, the dungeon already produced a noticeable number of golems to deal with this problem…. And not only that, but these things made their appearance already.

"!"

"ENEMY GIANTS SPOTTED!" – shouted the dwarven adventurer as trio of giant knight golems made their appearance.

"…"

"Hey. Wasn't one of them destroyed and other two badly damaged?" – asked heavily armored adventurer as he then knocking back several puppet soldiers with his shield.

"Yea, they were…. But these ones look brand new…. Are they different?" – said Adam who was instantly alarmed upon seeing the trio of the giants.

"Anyway, we need somebody to focus on dealing with them."

"They are not fast, but they have too high attack power."

"Just stick to the plan we told you about." – said Adam as the heavily armored adventurer nodded his head, before then being confronted by the golem knights.

"HEY! LOOK OUT! ANYTHING WEIRD YET?!" – shouted Adam as he turned around.

"NOPE! NOTHING SO FAR!" – replied back the mage.

"…"

(The golems' tactic has definitely changed.) – thought alarmed Adam as he fought a knight golem.

(They are far more aggressive compare to the before and they are instantly using the big guys from the get go….)

(But something smells fishy.)

(If they are really much more aggressive compare to the before, shouldn't they started using these 'bombs' already?)

"…"

(Hm…. This isn't good.) – thought Thauma as it observed the fight through its scout golem.

(My own forces are getting destroyed.)

(I mean, I know that I couldn't really repair all of these golems and everything…. But they still had numbers and everything-)

"?"

(My vision was disconnected?)

"GOT ONE OF THOSE BASTARDS!" – shouted the female elven archer as she shot down the scout golem which was being used by Thauma.

"Go! Get it!" – said the elven archer as suddenly cat beastwoman quickly rushed towards the fallen golem and retreated it as the golems were about to attack her.

"Huh… So, this is the guy?" – asked the cat beastwoman.

"Yea! Have guys check it quickly! See if it has bombs on it!" – said the elven archer as the stand by persona quickly took the small golem away in order to check it.

"…"

(They destroyed it.)

(Contact was completely destroyed…. Did they realized that I was observing them?)

(Annoying.)

(If they start taking down the scout golems, I will once again lose a little of vision of the outside world that I have,)

(….)

(Should I unleash the bomb golems…. Nah.)

(Too risky.)

(They may already have some countermeasures in place… It is better if I stick to the original plan.)

So far? Adventurers were dominating the golems.

Golems were being destroyed left and right while their opponent's momentum was only increasing.

Be it half destroyed golem or a brand-new golem, it didn't matter as their numbers were diminishing with each passing moment.

It was clear as day that the adventurers were winning, even when the 3 giant knight golems showed themselves early, they ended up getting the same treated as before…. No, if anything, the situation is the repeat of the exact same battle as the one that took place here months ago when Garmofn kingdom raided the forest.

And this time, the battle was also far easier for the attackers, compare to their last attempt…. However, around this time during the previous attack, the bombs went off.

This obviously made all adventurers be on high alert, expecting the golems to try and pull out the very same tactic as they did before…. But even as the battle raged on, the lookout team did not spotted any suspicious activity from the golems nor anything trying to sneak near them to plant the bombs.

"The hell?" – said the mage.

"What?! Did you found something?!" – asked the elven archer who unleashed barrage of flaming arrows in order to keep the hound golems in check.

"No. There is nothing!" – said the mage as the group that was in charge of inspecting the scout golem remains ended up completely dismantling the golem on the spot.

"This guy didn't had bombs!"

"…"

"So maybe it was the leader then?! Like it was the one pulling strings and stuff?!" – said the female elf before barely dogging a crossbow bolt that almost pierced her face.

"Shit! Piss off you bastard!" – shouted the panicking elven archer as she unleashing blazing arrow at the crossbow wielding golem, hitting it and blowing it up on the spot.

"By the way! There is nothing weird going on, right?!"

"Nope! There is still nothing on our end!" – said the adventurer on the lookout.

"…"

(Okay…. Now I'm worried.) – thought the elven girl.

(Why is there nothing going on?!)

(When we were about to completely dominate the golems, the bombs went off and fucked us all up, but now there is nothing going on?)

(By any chance, do these golems ran out of the bombs or something:?) – thought the elven girl as she looked around, noticing how the golems wave that was sent to confront the adventurers was already getting dominated, with even one of the giant knight golems being straight up destroyed right in front of the elven girl's eyes.

"…"

"I don't like this." – said the elf.

(Something isn't right here.)
