"-oss."
"Hm?"
"BOSS! WAKE UP! YOU NEED TO WAKE THE HELL UP!" – shouted panicking elf in the middle of the night.
"Hm? What? It better be good…" – said the annoyed boss as he started waking up.
"The pursuers! They are near!" – said the panicking elf, instantly waking up completely the bandit leader.
"What?! Hey! Wake up everybody!" – shouted the leader as he punched some of the bandits, instantly waking them up.
"Shit! What the hell do you mean they the pursuers and here?! They still shouldn't be here anytime soon!"
"I-I don't know! We were waiting on the forest edge as you ordered, but then out of nowhere, the kingdom soldiers showed up. They didn't looked like some sort of expectation or anything, they were search part." – said the elf as the leader instantly extinguished the campfire.
"And it wasn't just few soldiers; there were quiet lot of them around!"
"They are definitely searching for us!"
"Okay! I fucking get that part, but how do they know about "US"!? We left no traces….. Shit! DID ONE OF YOU FUCKERS DIDN'T CHECKED PROPERLY ALL THE CORPSE LIKE I'VE ASKED!?" – shouted the bandit leader, realizing that there must had been survivor amongst the villagers.
"W-what do we do?" – asked panicking human soldier.
"Do we run away?! Or fight!?"
"Neither! You bloody idiots!" – said the bandit leader.
"Even if maybe a night, there is no cover what so ever outside! And if the beastman in the mix, they maybe finds us easily."
"Then…. We fight?" – asked the dwarf.
"Shut it! Let me think!" – said the leader.
(Dammit….. If we fight, we would only expose our location.)
(If running and fighting isn't an option, then hiding would be the best next answer!)
(But what if they have beastman that can track our scent!?)
(If so, hiding isn't a possibility either.)
"…."
"Dammit…. We need to take more drastic measure."
"?"
"Drastic measure?" – asked confused and scared human bandit.
"We need to hide here and deal with all the pursuers." – said the bandit leader.
"We hide and make them find us, before then we all jump on them and then running away ASAP."
"This will buy us sometime….. But we need to find a hiding spot."
"Even if the beastman senses are good, they cannot completely warn them about the dangers."
"But obviously, in our current position, we will be exposed instantly….. Shit."
"Hey. Did any of you found any good hiding spots we can use? Even a small one will do! We need to have at least some hiding spot that we can use to ambush them."
"Em….. No. There is really isn't anything! This place doesn't--"
"Actually, there is one spot there." – said the dwarf as he pointed in the distance, interrupting the nervous human soldier.
"While I was chasing off some wolves, I've discovered some cave…. Honestly, I didn't went inside it, thinking that maybe some beast was inside…. But honestly, this is the best choice."
"Shit. Then we fucking use it." – said the bandit leader.
"We will bait them into going into the cave."
"They will probably think they have found our hiding spot or have us cornered, but in reality we will be waiting to ambush them."
"Common. Where the hell is that cave!?"
"R-right here!" – said the dwarves.
The group of bandits quickly packed up their stuff and began running, straight towards the deeper parts of the forest, before then finding a large cave covered by the nature.
"How deep is this thing?" – asked bandit leader as he and the other bandits stared at the cave's entrance.
"Don't know. Never went inside of it." – replied dwarf.
"…"
"Tch."
"Keep your wits up." – said the bandit leader as he light up the torch.
"Even if this forest is filled with some weak ass monsters, I wouldn't be surprised if there something like grey bear hiding inside this place."
The bandits entered the cave.
"…"
"…"
(Huh…. This cave isn't….. This is weird.) – thought the bandit leader as the group continue heading deeper into the cave.
"Hey, why are we going to deep?" – asked the elf bandit.
"If we are too close to the entrance, they will instantly find out about our ambush." – said the bandit leader.
"We need head deeper and prepare our ambush there.
"…"
"…"
"Huh….. Is there anything living in this place?" – asked the dwarves bandit, before then walking into the bandit leader.
"Hey! What gives?!"
"…."
"Say…. Don't you find this place…. Odd?" – asked bandit leader as he moved around his torch, trying to look around.
"Eh? The hell are you talking about?" – asked dwarves.
"I mean, isn't this cave way too long?" – asked the leader of the bandits.
"We had been already walking for some time and yet we had not found a single sleeping beast or some random animals remains or shit... This isn't normal….. This- "
"!?"
"Shhh!" – the bandit leader suddenly stopped in tracks, instantly silencing his entire group at the same time.
Reason?
Glow.
There was a source of light ahead.
"…"
"Keep quiet." – said the bandit leader as the group began slowly walking towards the source…. Before finding what the source of the light was.
"…. Why….. Why there are glowing stones on the wall? What are those even?" – said the bandit leader as the group realized that the source of the faith light that light up the area was a weird stone embodiment into the wall surface.
"I think those are…. Glow stones?" – said the dwarves.
"?"
"Glow stones?" – asked the bandit leader.
"Yea, didn't seen them in cities and such? Sometimes fancy nobles uses glow stones." – said the dwarves.
"The darker it is, the brighter they glow…. All though, they are not really that strong to light up a whole street on their own."
"And they are only really only useful in places that are very dark, for example, the light it is emitting is pretty much barely doing anything, since the torch is near it."
"Normally these things are sometimes used by nobles, miners and some…. Some .... Wait." – said the brown haired bandit as his face suddenly changed upon spotting other glow stones along the cave surface.
"…"
"Shit."
"?"
"What is it?" – asked the bandit leader.
"Those stones…. They are not randomly spread out... They were placed like this." – said the brown haired bandit.
"!?"
"Wait, you are telling me somebody -?!"
"WHO'S THERE?!" – shouted the bandit leader as he noticed somebody approaching from the distance.
"!"
(People?!) – thought the bandit leader.
"Shit! WHO ARE YOU?!" – shouted the bandit leader as the entire group armed themselves.
"…"
No responses…. Only steps….. And not from one being either, but from multiple beings…. And before long, they saw the "people" that were walking towards them.
A human like beings, covered in wood and iron approached, alarming the group.
"Shit! It's a fucking ambush?!" – said the bandit leader as he noticed the group of approaching people were carrying weapons….. Or not?
"?"
"Wait….. Are those….. What the hell is up with their arms?" – asked the elf bandit as he noticed the "humans" arms weren't exactly human looking. They were not carrying blades, their entire arms were blades.
"Em…. Say, is it me…. Or- "
"STOP IT NOW! WHO ARE YOU?!" – shouted the bandit leader, interrupting the dwarves.
"…"
But the creature did not responded…. And only thing they did was walk towards the bandits, growing in.
"Em… Is it just me, or there are more- "
(Dammit! They are!) – thought the nervous bandit leader.
"…"
"Kill them all."
"W-what?" – asked nervous human bandit.
"The soldiers outside must had already found our traces! If we try to leave this place now, we will just run into them!" – said the bandit leader.
"SO JUST FUCKING FIGHT!"
"…"
The group of bandits realized that there maybe no other way and prepared themselves for the combat.
However, what they didn't knew yet was that they were not in just some cave.
They were in the dungeon.
And these "people" were not people, but instead new version of the blade golems, with more humanoid like appearance.
However, it wouldn't take them long to find out the truth.
"KILL THEM ALL!" – shouted the bandit leader as the both side rushed at each other, making their blades.
"!?"
(Wait! Those are not armors?!) – thought the bandit leader as he clashed his sword with one o dolls and looked them directly into eyes, realizing that it wasn't some man covered in thin layer of wooden and iron armor, but instead a "creature".
"THOSE ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS!" – shouted the bandit leader, before then noticing one of the blade golems arms coming his way, causing the bandit leader to quickly step away and dogging the slash.
"S-shit! What the hell are they?!" – shouted the brown haired bandit as he started getting pushed back until the bandit mage fired off his [Stone Bullet], hitting the puppet in the head…. But not killing them.
"…Okay…. Those things are definitely not living beings." – said the scared mage.
"Even if that was a bloody helmet, it would had at least stunned them!"
"Just hold the line and-?!" – the bandit leader tried giving orders to the confused bandits…. But things were not going well.
The number of the creatures were already making the bandits nervous and on top of it all, they were not weak.
True.
These people were soldiers, before becoming bandits, but the puppets weren't weak opponents.
Their attacks had weight to them and they were not slow.
Not only that, but even when bandit landed an attack, the puppets were able to take attack.
These new and improved blade puppets had every single one of their physical abilities strengthen, making them nothing alike to their previous version.
And for the bandits? It didn't looked great.
Even when their attacks did some damage to the wooden iron bodies of these puppets, they were not able to depress the number of the puppets fast enough, causing the bandits to start quickly getting overwhelmed.
The blades slashed through their defenses and their flesh.
"[Sword Art: Heavy Strike]!" – but the bandit had yet to give up as he swung his sword, slashing and managing to take down one of the puppets…. Only for 3 more to appear and start attacking the bandit, slashing him and forcing him to quickly kick one of the puppet away, before then quickly leaping backwards.
(Dammit! What the hell are those?!)
(They are not people and their insides are…. Wait, are those golems?!)
(But aren't they just big monster made out of rocks or dirt?!)
(But what the hell are those-)
"N-no! Fuck! Yo- "– the dwarven bandit ended up being surrounded by the puppets…. Before then getting ripped apart by their blades right in front of everybody eyes and also becoming the very first casualty on the bandit side.
"…"
"Okay. Fuck it! We run!" – shouted the bandit leader.
"E-eh?! Weren't we suppose to fight them?!" – asked confused elf soldier.
"AND NON OF FUCKING THOUGHT THERE WAS SO MANY OF THEM!" – shouted the scared bandit leader.
"I RATHER TRY MY LUCK BREAKING THROUGH THE SOLDIERS OUTSIDE THAN TRY AND BEAT THESE GUYS, ONLY TO GET ATTACKED FROM BOTH SIDES!"
"COMMON! LET'S FUCKING GO!" – shouted the bandit leader as he started running away, without even waiting for the other bandits to catch up, which obviously caused even bigger panic for the bandits.
Bandits tried to turn tail and leave the cave….. But there was a problem.
First problem was this.
"!?"
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" – shouted the brown haired bandit before getting slashed in the back and then knocked back.
These puppets weren't really slow, allowing them to somewhat get some of the bandits, causing the bandits to get attacked as they tried to ran away, causing 2 more bandits to get captured by the puppets.
And the second problem?
Outside.
"…"
"The campfire was extinguished just recently…. They must had saw us coming." – said the wolf beastman soldier as he and several other soldiers had found the traces of the bandits.
"The tracks also seems very recent; they must had just ran away…. Keep your guard up."
"We are right behind them."
