Those words made the woman's widening maw pause in their tracks, her eyes quavering within their eyeballs, and in the next moment.
BAAAAANG!
Everlearn's head smashed into the sand, his legs dangling in the air for a couple of moments before he succeeded in tearing his face off the sand.
He breathed chaotically, turning forward to find the woman, who was once more already 30 meters away from him, her legs inches away from the water.
"You're lucky I have no appetite for Inferiors…" she said, her hands hugging her stomach.
She had once more turned to a woman, a full woman, though once more she was naked, and his eyes unconsciously shut.
She noticed that, and the robe reappeared.
"What are you, anyway?" she asked with furrowed brows.
The young man looked too much like her, at least in her humanoid form.
"Huh… A Dunman?" he said, feeling the breeze rush past, and he blinked once, yet when he opened his eyes, she was right before him, less than 10 centimeters away.
Her eyes scanned his face before she rose upright.
"You're not a Dunman."
"Dunmen have dark lines on their faces, and they stink!" she said.
"Oh well, thanks for the compliment!"
"Compli… Tehehe," she giggled widely.
"No one compliments their food, do they?" she said, and his smile was quickly wiped off.
"I am a dude," he said.
"Dude? I've never heard of such a race before," she mused quietly
"It's a… huh… special race from, uh… very far away," he answered.
║How Ridiculous Does That Sound║
'Maybe a bit?'
"Interesting." She said.
║For Real?║
The system panel flashed, and even Everlearn could only stare, scratching the back of his head.
'I can't believe she'll fall for that.'
"What are you anyway?"
He asked, rising to his feet only to pause when he watched her irises slowly turn serpentine, and that evil smile return.
"I'm a monster!" she claimed with pride, as Everlearn looked down from her serpentine eyes to her feet beneath the robe.
"Really?" he asked, and her eyes narrowed for a while before the serpentine slit retreated.
"I'm a Mergas."
She answered this time quietly, and Everlearn furrowed his brows.
'Mergas, Mergas, Mergas… yeah, that wasn't hitting any chord?'
"What?" she shouted in disbelief.
"Huh?"
"You've never heard of that before?" she asked, looking at his expression.
"Not really."
"I am a Mergas. Devourer of all that is superior!" she claimed wildly, her hand over her wrist as she posed grandly.
But all she got was Everlearn's lost expression.
"Not familiar still."
"Doom of the Greats?" she followed.
"No. Not really."
"End of Supremes?"
"Not close."
"Ultimate Fusion of Eclipsing Accursed."
"No."
"Haaaa," she exhaled a sigh, stepping out of her might pose before saying one last line.
"Hybrid of a Mermaid and Nagas?" she asked.
"So you're a mermaid!" Everlearn screeched.
"I knew it."
"Wait… a hybrid? Nagas?" he mused quietly.
"Nagas. I've heard that before. Wait, those are the half-snakes."
"Mermaid, Nagas...Mergas. So you're a hybrid," he mused quietly.
Now it made more sense.
"Hmmm, it's weird, you know that title."
"It's a name from an ancient book from my clan, now long lost. None but a Mergas should know that," she said with brows furrowed, as he unconsciously swallowed, but quickly cooked an answer.
"They're quite popular from where I come from."
"There are mermaids and Nagas where you come from?" she asked with a pause.
"No, not really. They're myths in children's storybooks. They don't exist," he said, but paused, looking at her.
"Or do they?" he mused quietly.
"I don't know," she whispered, walking towards the water, but walking was pushing things.
She only took three steps before she disappeared into it.
All Everlearn saw was a gigantic fish tail that created a powerful wave with a single flap, and she disappeared completely from view.
BADUUUMP!
BADUUUMP!
Only after her disappearance did the sound of his own heart pounding loudly finally reach him as he cautiously gripped his chest.
"Just what type of nightmare is this?"
Giants. Mermaids. Nagas.
All of those races were fantasy written in children's books.
How could they exist?
Was this really just a dream?
If it was, how come time moved even without him?
If it had only been a dream, he would have awoken where he last left off, but the world had gone on, leaving him behind.
"Hey system, just where is this?" he asked, but as usual, it was quiet.
Whenever he tried to ask, there was only silence.
Since the creature was gone for now, he ought to get out of here.
But looking around, all he saw was the endless sea.
There were zero signs of a bridge where he had jumped from into the water.
And even after magnifying, all he saw was endless water.
'How did this even happen? I jumped into a ridge, then a waterfall? And now, I'm in the middle of nowhere?'
Even if he wished to swim away from here, how could he do that?
There was nothing but water.
That left only one thing: the island he was on.
It was wide, and he was only on the shore.
He knew once he slept, he would be sent back to reality.
But before that, he might as well do a little bit of exploring.
With that in mind, Everlearn turned to the forests and ventured into the jungle, yet 5 minutes had yet to pass, when,
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A heavy explosion boomed out, trees were sent flying into the air, and amongst them, flaying wildly in the sky was a figure.
ROOOOOOOOOOOAR!
A powerful roar from down in the jungle sent a sonic wave that sent Everlearn flying out of the island, and he slammed back into the water.
His head felt groggy, his gaze dim, but his eyes quickly widened when he found the Mergas right before his face.
For some reason, she appeared bigger underwater and had a fish tail instead of a snake.
Her tail whipped out from below, hurling him from the sea, and he slammed headfirst onto the shore again.
COUGH!
COUGH!
"Everything here is already taken," she answered as Everlearn coughed out sand and water.
"The only place you fit in is… my belly."
"WHAT!?"
