But his head soon poked out of the bed when he noticed her still sitting by his side.
"Boss Ash called a couple of hours ago..." she said, her brows creased as she stared piercingly at him.
"Aaand?" Everlearn replied innocently.
"Students of the Academy were never supposed to fuse with Anomalous Grade Cores."
"You lied to me!" she growled at him.
"Lied? About what?"
"About Boss Ash being the one instructing you to fuse with an Anomalous Grade Core," she answered as Everlearn raised an eyebrow.
"I never told you that Boss Ash instructed me to fuse with an Anomalous Grade Core, did I?"
Everlearn asked, and Erendel quieted in disbelief.
"All I said was I was asked to give you this card by a Corer named Ash, and when you asked if I wished to fuse with an Anomalous Grade Core, I simply said 'of course.'"
"How does any of those two have to do with Boss Ash instructing me on what type of core I should fuse with?"
He said, watching her lips close and open before she ground her teeth in anger.
The truth was, Everlearn had never actually said that.
She was the one who had heard him say "of course" and had assumed that was the reason Boss Ash wanted her to perform the surgery specifically.
She had thought Ash wanted the kid to fuse with an Anomalous Core, and even though it was against Academy protocols, she had done it because it was Boss Ash after all.
Even the Academy would have given her that leeway if she had asked personally.
But she was wrong.
It was the boy himself who wanted to fuse with an Anomalous Grade Core, and when she called Boss Ash to ask about it, Boss Ash said she didn't know anything about it.
This innocent-looking bastard had outsmarted her!
"I forgot to mention," Everlearn said,
"I am allergic to someone being close to me while I sleep at night, so..." he said, as she scoffed.
"You cheat! I have every right to be with a student for as long as they remain in the lab!"
"And you are in my personal recuperation lab that I opened to you because of Boss Ash, whose name you have abused countless times now!"
"You don't tell me to leave my recuperation lab," she shot back, as
Everlearn's gaze dimmed.
"In fact!" she suddenly said.
"Hey, what are you—!"
Everlearn said only to be thrown up in the air by a couple of centimeters before he landed back on the bed.
Turning, he found her crimson eyes staring down at him.
"I have decided to spend the night here..." she said, watching as Everlearn's lips opened and closed before he whispered a,
"You do know I'm only 17, right?"
"Yes, I do?" she replied with a raised eyebrow, then paused as the realization set in.
"Wait? You meant?"
"Me... you?"
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
In the next moment, a loud laughter burst out through the room, as Lady Erendel burst out laughing until tears dropped down from her eyes.
When she finally got herself back in control, she pointed at his head, saying,
"You really do have some wild imagination for that innocent look of yours."
"Do anything dumb, and I'll make you regret being born a male."
She swore, and the fierceness of those crimson eyes made Everlearn feel his spine chill.
Unconsciously, he backed off to the farthest edge of the bed before shutting his eyes.
'Just one night. And I'll finally be out of this psycho's grasp.'
He thought to himself, his hands clumsily hugging himself, but they caressed his pocket, and he noticed something.
The trousers he was wearing, and the clothes.
They were light.
"Huh?"
Everlearn mused as he sat up, pushing the blanket away and looking at his trousers.
"What the!?"
This wasn't the trousers he used for the surgery!
They were more of a patient's clothes.
"What happened to my clothes!" he shouted in shock, turning suspiciously at Lady Erendel, who replied,
"Didn't you hear? You almost died from that surgery. Your trousers and underwear were dripping wet with your blood, so... I took them off."
She said, watching his head turn red.
"You! You took them off!?"
"Of course. You're just 17 after all."
She said with a wide grin, as Everlearn simply turned back to the side, though she could hear his teeth grinding hard.
'This pervert of a bastard. She saw everything.'
║It's the second time now. The first was Ash.║
The panel blinked.
'What the!? SHUT THE FUCK UP!'
He roared in his thoughts, and he could swear he heard a mocking laughter in his head.
'Today's got to be the worst day of my life,' Everlearn mused to himself, forcing his eyes to close up.
Once he drifted off to sleep and woke up the next morning, he would be alive and well, ready to head to his dorm room and plan out his day.
Maybe he might even be healed enough to fight.
He didn't want to cancel his first challenge.
And he had already missed one class, so the last thing he wanted now was to miss another one.
"Everlearn Snowfall, huh?" The words suddenly rang out from behind just as he was trying harder to drift off into sleep.
"You didn't come into X Guard the normal way, did you?" she suddenly asked, and one of Everlearn's eyes opened up.
"There's no record or score of entrance whatsoever, and even your affinity core talent seemed to have only been written in just a couple of hours ago."
She said, before turning to the side, looking at Everlearn, who had his eyes turned away from her.
His dark hair was the only thing visible, its edges glowing faintly with an otherworldly blue hue.
Such a hair color could only have been from a dye, but she had checked it while he was unconscious.
That was just the normal color of his hair.
"How did you get into X Guard?"
The question reverberated through the room, forcing Everlearn's other eye open.
