They moved even faster the next day with the intent of reaching the Fendish monster and clearing it before they would make their way toward the other banners for the final clearing of the Abyssal land.
They did not talk much and after their morning food, they kept at it with no distraction. The forest played its usual tricks but with their strength, they overcame everything with overwhelming force.
Galthor was still thinking that they might not even encounter any problems when they suddenly heard it. Something that made all of them freeze.
"Is that....?"
It was weeping. They began to hear deep, sorrowful weeping that filled everywhere around them as if the forest was weeping as well.
It made the air hum and the ground groan slightly.
"What is all of this? Chief, should we assemble into a fighting formation?" Karathra called.
Galthor raised his hand for silence as his eyes narrowed. He cast his senses out but he did not find any immediate danger. "Let us go, there is no trouble near here. We will not waste time on useless things, if it is a monster, it will come out and face us. Until then."
They began to march forward without hesitation. The weeping continued but they ignored it. In fact, the more they moved forward, the louder and more ear jarring it became.
Suddenly they burst out of the clearing and came to a sudden stop. In front of them, the ground had been split open by a canyon and it was from this canyon that the weeping was coming from.
Galthor assessed the situation. From what he could see, there was a bridge connecting the canyon, an old bridge made of stone and ropes.
"We have to cross that?" Ashclaw exclaimed with wide eyes.
In fact, all the masters were shifting back with a nervous tilt to their heads.
Galthor understood.
It was not only because of the suspicious bridge. This close to the canyon, the weeping had a magnetic pull, as if the grief they could feel in it was calling them down. To fall into the canyon and console the one weeping.
It was messing with their minds.
Only Galthor and Lady Pelica stood unaffected with disapproving looks on their faces.
"We need to cross over. Even something like this cannot stop us," Galthor said, his dark eyes shifting to red and silver slightly. "We already wasted enough time."
His words were strong but the masters did not have the same will that he did. And the weeping was affecting them more than he expected.
He took one look at them and he knew they would probably fall over into the bridge, the bridge that was already suspicious in the first place.
What a mess.
Without wasting time, he let his subconsciousness take over.
He was sitting on a mountain with the stars that represented the masters laid down in front of him. Right then, he could see them darkened slightly and the faint sound of weeping coming from them.
One thing Galthor had been considering since he realized how strong his mind was was the fact that if he could instantly attack the mind of anything, then he would be incredibly strong and most enemies would not stand up to him at all.
But he did not have mind attack powers. But maybe he would be able to do some things through Obsessed with charm. For now though, he could only attack when the mind connection was already made.
He took a sliver of his mind power, a divided drop in the ocean, and then he wove it into a string and connected it with one of the stars, intertwining it with the mind that was invading.
"Chief, what are you doing?" one of the masters called with a panicked expression.
Galthor had walked toward the very edge of the canyon and looked down.
The canyon was covered in white shifting fog and darkness. He could not see the bottom with his eyes and when looking down, he got the feeling that he was looking at another place, as if the place down below did not exist in his physical world but another place entirely.
"So the entities there cannot come up but if one should fall in....ah, I can see you now."
Galthor's attention instantly zeroed on a position, although he could not see through the fog. With his mind making connections with the entity, he could get a feel of it.
It was a female like entity and although it was crying, it was also laughing and smiling, sneering in anticipation of those that would fall into the canyon, compelled by the power of its grief.
Galthor shook his head and then through his mind, he took a look.
He was sitting on a mountain and he shifted his head, carefully looking down at the mind of the entity that was invading his masters' minds.
Bam.
Everything happened so fast.
It turned out, entities are cautious beings. Before Galthor's eyes even settled on it, the bastard had already cut the connections.
Even then, the damage was done.
There was a long wailing sound that cut the air like a cold blade. It was sharp and real and it fell silent the next moment.
The canyon shook and the fog below boiled, rising up in a seething mess.
The masters shivered and even Lady Pelica shuddered, her eyes wide. "What did you do? That canyon is known as Weeping Canyon and it usually appears in multiple Abyssal land. The entity that controls it has never fallen silent."
But now it went still, leaving a ringing silence in its place.
In fact, through the space time twisting, multiple entities can appear in different Abyssal land at the same time. It was the same for the Weeping Canyon. And right now, through all Abyssal land, this entity had fallen silent.
It was something that sent faint ripples through the world even though they did not know who did it.
Entities are not something that are taken lightly, even the gods do not fight them willy willy.
Lady Pelica felt as if someone had flipped the world on its head. "You... what did you do?"
