This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist

Chapter 1065: 1065 Divine Game: My World 10

The pain finally subsided. No miracle happened. Wrathful Moon did not change at all.

It and Cat's Ideal went right back to fighting. The little Vineborne kept running in circles on Beacon beside Rita, trying to catch the ship's wheel and the lantern and join their game.

It looked like an accident, but Rita refused to treat it as a random interruption.

This had never happened before. She had cut moonlight from countless places: Lania Kaia, Kart Racer, Diamond Miner's abandoned zone, Diamond Miner's commercial zone, Mischief's food street, Chaotic Blocks' amusement park.

Yet this was the first time Wrathful Moon had actively taken the moonlight she cut. Cat's Ideal had even come out to calm her, as if worried she would interrupt the process.

And why had being unable to cut moonlight inside the Divine Game become her personal rule?

Most of all, the chorus of You are being watched had been far louder than usual, on par with the day she became BS Adjudicator, the day she drew Player Relic, the day she ran into the 7777 mess. Gods and demons really had nothing better to do.

Cut the Moonlight was a skill she had obtained before entering High Tower. With it, she had emptied High Tower's moon sand.

Later, she had obtained three maple leaves called Ascension Cup from Maple Syrup. She had used the first one on Cut the Moonlight.

Ascension Cup: Converts a skill into an upgradable state. Afterward, as you use it and gain insight, the skill will break past its limits. Upon use, the skill's current rank decreases by one tier.

That single use had dropped Cut the Moonlight from SS to S, and it still had not climbed back.

She had kept cutting here and cutting there, but the cooldown was long, and she did not use it frequently. By the time she got the Ascension Cup leaf, she was already on the verge of leaving High Tower. So the skill remained at S rank.

The black collar around her neck lit up. Rita used On Repeat, targeting Cut the Moonlight.

Cut the Moonlight S Rank Passive: When moonlight falls into your eyes, it will leave behind a little bit of something magical.

The description was still maddeningly vague, but Rita had already widened her eyes, staring at every strange moon hanging above each world dock they passed, determined to let more moonlight reach her.

Turning an active skill into a passive always sacrificed some effects, but the advantage was that the cooldown disappeared.

Rita had made up her mind to keep watch on the balcony all night. Not just all night. She would not let the daytime game hours go, either.

The strangest part of the river of time was that even in daylight, those moons above the docks never vanished.

Dawn Cicada, who had come out after dinner to clear her head, saw BS Rita sitting there like an idiot.

Her gaze lingered on Wrathful Moon until the lantern hid behind BS Rita. Only then did Dawn Cicada look away and stare quietly at the river of time.

All the players resting on the balconies were like that. No taunts, no arguments. Everyone enjoyed the rare calm.

Then the sound of waves rose again.

Nearby players all looked toward the ship's wheel beside BS Rita.

Rita rubbed her reddened eyes, pulled Cat Head? from the gacha machine, and used The Owl Got Lost to remove Waste Guide's cooldown. Then she took out the game console and tossed Cat Head? inside to let it kill time.

The Owl Got Lost's cooldown truly could not be reduced by any method, but placing it into the game console was different. The cooldown did not get reduced, but it could end earlier because time flowed differently inside the console.

Rita dug in like a stubborn mule. If this was something that could disturb two divine relics, she would watch all night, and she would do it with time stop running.

Dawn Cicada and Maple Syrup watched BS Rita sit cross legged on the balcony, a pile of items in her lap, swapping things in and out again and again.

Even deep into the night, the sound of waves still rang out now and then.

And the players here were already in an unfamiliar world. Any small disturbance could wake them, let alone a loud sound tied to divine effects.

Dawn Cicada stared at the ceiling with a dark expression. This was outright provocation.

And BS Rita had more than one way to provoke people.

You could eventually get used to waves. It was a cruise ship, after all.

But the rooms several floors above BS Rita did not just hear waves. They got rained on. Golden rain curtain seeped through the ceiling and landed on them. No one could sleep. They truly could not sleep.

After who knew how many time stops, after the war cruise had passed who knew how many worlds, even the little Vineborne running on Beacon had collapsed and fallen asleep on the red planet.

Only Wrathful Moon and Cat's Ideal stayed with Rita, along with Nivalis, who woke up midway through the night and crawled into her lap to keep her company.

Now and then, Wrathful Moon drifted close to her right eye. Each time it did, a thread of star smoke shimmering with moonlight would leak out and slip into the lantern.

...

At 7:00 AM on Day Two, Mistblade stepped out of her room while tossing the little figure from her world sphere into the teleport circle for the Divine Game, adding a threat for good measure. "If your results stay this trash, I will send you to BS Rita."

Rita, walking out with one hand covering her eye: ???

Who? Who was demonizing her again?

She rubbed her eyes, then opened them and tossed her own little Vineborne into the magic circle, threatening, "If your results stay this trash, I will give you to Maple Syrup to bake into a tiny cookie."

The moment she finished, Maple Syrup's voice came from behind her. "I think you are the one who is perfect for being turned into a cookie."

Maple Syrup was about to add something else, but then she saw BS Rita turn around. The whites of her eyes were webbed with bloodshot veins, and her eyes were so red they looked terrifying.

Maple Syrup fell silent for a few seconds, glanced around, then leaned close to BS Rita's ear and whispered, "Did you find another exploit? Tell Mother."

Rita: "I am warning you, stop trying to take advantage of me."

"Heh. Now it is me taking advantage of you?" Maple Syrup sneered, then cleared her throat. Her voice shifted. In a fake tone with exaggerated cadence, she mimicked, "Mother, Mother, I am scared."

Rita: "......"

Dead memories began bombarding her.

Seven in the morning was game start time, so most players stepped out at that moment. The corridor had been as busy as rush hour, but because of their exchange, the entire hallway fell silent. Everyone stared at Lania Kaia Maple Syrup and BS Rita with a bizarre expression.

Dawn Cicada, standing closest to them, even forgot to manage her face. It would not have been an exaggeration to say her pupils were shaking.

The tiny Nivalis on Rita's shoulder patted Rita's ear and loudly comforted her, "It is fine, Maple Burn. She is more embarrassed than you."

Rita: "..." Will you die if you do not twist the knife?

Maple Syrup: "..."
