The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 146: Ambushed

"What has you so panicked?" Chen Zheng answered Zhuge Xiyu's call.

"My father suspects Lan Luo Zi has hired mercenaries," Zhuge Xiyu said, her voice tight with tension. "Their target is undoubtedly the formulas for our Beautifying Cream and Spirit Cleansing Liquid."

"And the formulas?" Chen Zheng asked, his brows knitted tightly.

"I've etched them into my mind; they won't succeed!"

Zhuge Xiyu would never let such important items fall so easily into the hands of others.

"Then aren't you in danger?"

"Indeed, I am." Fear filled Zhuge Xiyu's voice.

Even though they had reinforced security at her home, she still felt uneasy. Mercenaries were a group of international desperados whose thirst for money far outweighed any regard for human life. In their cutthroat world, domestic law enforcement was no deterrent.

"Understood. I'll get there as fast as I can!" Chen Zheng said before hanging up. A fierce anger instantly ignited in his eyes.

Capital. That nauseating entity stops at nothing to achieve its goals.

"It's been a long time since I've had a real fight. This time, I'll enjoy playing with you all," Chen Zheng muttered as he began to dial.

He informed everyone of his trip to Haitian City, then called a car and headed for the airport.

「By nightfall, Chen Zheng was in Haitian City.」

Zhuge Xiyu had sent a car to pick him up. After Chen Zheng got in, the bodyguard sped toward her location.

「Meanwhile, at the Zhuge residence.」

A dark figure flashed by, and a bodyguard instantly fell into a deep sleep. The shadow reappeared, gently lowering the guard to the ground without alerting anyone.

Under the cover of night, shadowy figures moved like ghosts through the villa grounds, expertly evading all surveillance. One by one, the bodyguards crumpled like scarecrows, their consciousness fading into a haze. Soon, all of the villa's security had been silently eliminated.

A figure stopped and said in English, "Mission accomplished."

Then, an imposing figure strode toward the villa's main entrance like a tiger descending a mountain. With a single kick, the heavy door burst open as if it were made of paper.

The two bodyguards on the second floor were startled and immediately went on alert. Zhuge Haoran, Zhuge Xiyu, and Gongsun Yun also sensed the disturbance.

"Damn it, where are the others?" one of the bodyguards exclaimed, his face turning pale. Their expressions changed drastically when they saw two figures approaching the villa like wolves in the night.

"Chairman, something's happened to the others! We need to leave, now!" a bodyguard urged.

Zhuge Haoran and the others immediately stood up, intending to go downstairs.

"This mission is laughably easy!" A confident voice came from the stairway.

"Time's running out!" The two bodyguards exchanged a look, their eyes glinting with resolve.

Just then, two figures appeared like specters. One was a tall, imposing man. The other, though slightly shorter, exuded an equally powerful aura. The hair and skin color of both men marked them as foreigners.

"Yo! Still two left! Boss, I've got this!" the shorter man said upon seeing the bodyguards.

Before his boss could respond, he shot toward the two bodyguards like a bolt of lightning. The guards moved to intercept him.

BAM! BAM!

In the next instant, both men were sent flying. Their attacker was so fast they had no time to react. They crashed heavily to the ground a short distance away, instantly unconscious. A closer look revealed syringes embedded in their chests, each containing traces of a clear liquid.

"How utterly boring!" the shorter man said with disdain.

"Who are you?" Zhuge Haoran asked, his voice tinged with unease.

The two had appeared as swiftly as lightning, subduing the Zhuge Family's bodyguards in an instant. Clearly, these were no ordinary men.

"Allow me to introduce us. We are the Wolf Sky Team. I am Ercha, this is our leader, Slick, and our other teammate, Ri La, is hidden in the shadows," Ercha said gracefully. "Now, let our friend Ri La say hello!"

Ercha waved his hand.

SWISH! A sharp projectile pierced the air.

"Ah!" Gongsun Yun screamed in agony and collapsed onto the couch.

"My wife!"

"Mom!"

Zhuge Haoran and Zhuge Xiyu cried out in unison.

However, Gongsun Yun had already sunk into a deep unconsciousness, a thin syringe protruding from her chest.

"Rest assured, we have no intention of killing. In this country, taking a life is quite troublesome," Ercha spoke softly.

Relieved that they weren't killers, Zhuge Xiyu's voice was nonetheless sharp as she demanded, "What is it you want?"

"Nothing special, just a mission. Enough talk. Are you coming with us willingly, or do we have to force you?" Ercha gazed at Zhuge Xiyu, his tone indifferent.

"Over my dead body!" Zhuge Haoran stepped forward, positioning himself protectively in front of Zhuge Xiyu.

SWISH! Another projectile cut through the air.

"Ah!" Zhuge Haoran grunted in pain before collapsing, unconscious.

"Father!" Zhuge Xiyu cried out in panic.

"Let's go," Slick said flatly, turning to leave.

Ercha nodded, then flashed to Zhuge Xiyu's side. He gently tapped the back of her neck, and she instantly fell unconscious.

The two men took Zhuge Xiyu from the villa and drove away.

"To think this mission has a hundred-million bounty… it's practically child's play!" Ercha marveled while driving.

"Don't celebrate too soon. The mission isn't over until we get the information from her. We might still have to make a trip to Yun City to find our real target," Ri La whispered over the comms.

He stood atop a dilapidated building five hundred meters from the Zhuge Family villa, a sniper rifle in his hands, ready to pack it up. However, his movements halted abruptly. Through his scope, he saw a car parked quietly in front of the Zhuge Family villa.

"Someone's here. Should I take him out? If he calls the police, it'll be a problem," Ri La muttered, his voice transmitted clearly to Ercha and Slick through his earpiece.

"Take him out. Rendezvous with us after," Slick ordered coldly.

Ri La nodded and began to aim.

"Damn, there are two of them. This is tricky," Ri La muttered, keeping the villa squarely in his sights. "I need to wait for the right moment. If they react and take cover, this gets complicated."
