The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 307: This is Harming People!

Seeing Liu Yumei hesitate, a slight smile touched Chen Zheng's lips as he whispered, "It's okay."

"Sister Liu, rest assured. If the mine can't be sold because of this, I will take full responsibility. I'll transfer the money directly to your account!"

He had long made up his mind that the mine was incredibly valuable. Buying it would guarantee a profit, not a loss. If it came to that, he would have no choice but to step in himself!

"You'll buy it?" Dai Wushuang couldn't help but sneer, his expression full of mockery. "Do you have any idea how much our mine is worth?"

"If you don't, then don't spout nonsense. This mine is worth a hundred million. Can you afford it?" The mockery on his face deepened as he finished speaking.

"Steward Dai," Chen Zheng began, his eyes narrowing. "There's something I don't quite understand. Why do you seem so nervous about me wanting to blast this wall? Why are you trying so hard to stop it? Could it be you're hiding something you're afraid we'll find out?"

As he spoke, he tapped the adjacent wall lightly with his flashlight.

"Utter nonsense! What do I have to be afraid of? Stop trying to stir up trouble!" Dai Wushuang immediately lost his composure, his eyes darting about nervously.

"It's fine, Brother Dai. Blasting this one wall isn't a big deal. As long as we control the amount of explosives, nothing will go wrong," Liu Yumei said, stepping forward. "Go ahead and prepare. I'll take responsibility if anything happens!"

She had grown up on the mine grounds, so she was quite experienced with such matters. She knew that blasting this wall wouldn't be a problem, nor would it make the mine unsellable.

"But…"

"I've made my decision. Hurry up and get ready!"

Seeing Liu Yumei so resolute, Dai Wushuang had no choice but to summon the demolitions expert. Before long, all the preparations were complete.

"Everyone, move back! It's best to maintain a safe distance of more than fifty meters. That way, even if something goes wrong, you won't be affected!"

The man in charge of the demolition looked old and pale, as if he were unwell. He immediately unspooled the detonation wire to a safe distance. Meanwhile, everyone else quickly retreated to the safest location. With all eyes focused on the impending blast and their own safety, no one noticed that Dai Wushuang had vanished without a trace.

Almost two minutes later, a deafening explosion ripped through the air, shaking the entire mine as thick smoke billowed furiously from within.

Zhao Feng, who had been sitting quietly on a rock, leaped to his feet at the commotion. He stared ahead with great concern, wondering what had happened inside.

Terrified, Liu Yuling collapsed onto the ground. Her face went pale as she stared toward the explosion and began to scream frantically, "Sister! Sister, you have to be okay!"

Just then, an utterly panic-stricken figure staggered out from the mine. He was covered in dust and looked extremely disheveled.

"Brother Dai, how did you get out? What happened in there?" Liu Yuling immediately rushed over and grabbed him. "I just heard an explosion… Where is my sister now? Is she okay?"

Hearing this, a bitter expression formed on Dai Wushuang's face as tears streamed down his cheeks. Filled with immense regret, he said softly, "I'm sorry, Second Miss… This is all my fault. I couldn't stop the Eldest Miss from blasting the wall, and the demolition worker miscalculated the amount of explosives! There was a massive cave-in inside because of the blast. The Eldest Miss is probably…"

He trailed off, unable to continue.

"How could this happen? Why was there a cave-in?" Liu Yuling collapsed onto the ground again, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Though she didn't know much about mining, she knew that jade mines were dug much deeper than others. If something went wrong inside, the chance of survival was almost zero. Her sister was buried down there. What was she going to do now?

"War God!" Zhao Feng roared and, without hesitation, started to charge forward.

But before he could get close to the entrance, he saw a large group of figures slowly running out from inside. All of them were covered in dust, looking incredibly disheveled.

"Sis?" Liu Yuling froze on the spot, dumbfounded.

After a few seconds, she dashed over at top speed and hugged Liu Yumei tightly, her face etched with lingering fear. After what had just happened, she had been truly afraid that her sister was buried below, never to be seen again.

"I'm fine. Don't worry so much," Liu Yumei said, patting her sister's back reassuringly.

Then, she walked briskly over to Dai Wushuang. Without a shred of mercy, she raised her hand and delivered a resounding slap across his face.

CRACK!

The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the air.

"Eldest Miss… What… What is the meaning of this?" Dai Wushuang was stunned, looking at Liu Yumei in utter shock. He couldn't believe she would strike him so heartlessly.

What puzzled him even more was how they could have possibly escaped. After such an intense explosion, the interior should have been reduced to ruins. With a cave-in that massive, their escape should have been impossible.

"Dai Wushuang, I have always treated you like family, never once as a servant! I never imagined you would stoop so low as to try and murder me!" Liu Yumei shouted in a rage.

If she hadn't experienced it firsthand, she would never have believed that the person she trusted most would turn on her. In a way, it completely shattered her perception of him.

"Sis… what are you doing?" Liu Yuling asked from the side, completely baffled. "Brother Dai is our family! We've always been so close. How could he possibly try to harm us? How can you blame Dai Wushuang for what happened inside?"

"As close as family? Is that what you really think?" a voice called out. Just then, a tall, imposing figure slowly emerged from the billowing smoke.

With a casual wave of his hand, he tossed the demolition worker onto the ground beside them, kicking up a cloud of dust.
