The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 378: Just Bluffing

Chen Zheng listened from the side, a chill running down his spine.

This person is a madman.

"So?" Chen Zheng said.

"I sincerely hope you will join my team to witness the birth of this new world together."

"Not interested!" Chen Zheng waved a dismissive hand. "If that's all you came for, you can leave now."

Professor X smiled at him. "Then I will wait for you here. In the future, when you find the situation spiraling out of control and you're trapped in a desperate plight, you will agree to my request."

He then looked up at the sky and said, "In that case, I won't disturb you any further. As for the matter of you falling from the sky, I'll take care of it."

Professor X, wearing a duckbill cap and leaning on a cane, gave Chen Zheng a bow before slowly walking away. His clothes looked like something a medieval nobleman from the continent might wear.

Chen Zheng finally relaxed after watching him leave, his gaze sweeping over the quiet surroundings. Fortunately, they were in the suburbs with few people around, so a fight wouldn't attract much attention. It was clear that Chen Xiao and his men had intercepted all the criminals, preventing them from getting through.

Chen Zheng felt a bit more at ease. At the very least, the wedding can continue.

He turned and walked toward the wedding banquet. By now, the ceremony was more than halfway through. Li Dali glanced over, and Chen Zheng quickly gave him a reassuring look, indicating that the matter was handled.

Reassured, Li Dali proceeded with his wedding, while Chen Zheng came to a stop in the crowd.

From below the stage, Li Hui frowned. This wedding had been a huge shock to him, but he quickly regained his composure.

Li Dali is just showing off. When it's my turn, my gift will be the most generous of all. Then, I'll be the center of attention! Besides…

His gaze fell upon Qiu Yu and Huang Shiqi behind him. If I put on an impressive display later, I might even win the favor of those two beauties.

Just then, Liu Jia's performance was wrapping up. Li Hui leaped from his seat, bowed to Liu Jia, and then grabbed the microphone. "Wang Rui!"

Li Dali frowned. There's something wrong with that Li Hui.

Li Hui had always been a show-off. Even a fool could see from this wedding that Li Dali was no ordinary person, yet Li Hui still chose to step forward. He simply refused to believe that Li Dali possessed such immense wealth. He's just bluffing. And that woman on stage probably isn't the real Liu Jia, just a look-alike.

He walked onto the stage and said with a smile, "Since it's your wedding, and I'm your cousin, I of course have to do something."

He pulled out a card and handed it to Li Dali. "Here's 100,000 for you and your new wife's future expenses. Don't be shy!"

Li Dali was speechless. "..."

Li Hui looked at the shocked expressions of his relatives and friends, feeling utterly satisfied.

Just as he was about to speak again, Gu Xiaobai stepped forward and snatched the microphone from his hand. "Now it's time for gifts! As Wang Rui's close friend, we of course have to give something as well."

He then announced, "This is one of my companies. Take it as a wedding present."

A collective gasp went through the crowd, followed by an uproar.

Li Hui was completely dumbfounded, staring at Li Dali in disbelief.

Just then, Chen Zheng also walked over, holding a sheet of paper. "Here is a share transfer agreement. I'm transferring fifteen percent of Han Yu Group's shares to you!"

As soon as he said this, the room erupted.

Han Yu Group was one of the country's top enterprises; countless people had heard of it. The ownership of the group had always been a mystery, and no one really knew who was behind it. Now, Chen Zheng's announcement implied that he and his friends were the major behind-the-scenes shareholders, and they had just given fifteen percent of the company to Li Dali!

Considering Han Yu Group was worth tens of billions, a fifteen percent stake meant Li Dali's personal assets now exceeded ten billion.

In truth, Li Dali wasn't particularly concerned. The money, stocks, and companies were all just tokens of their sincerity. He wasn't lacking in wealth, and besides, these things were of little use to him.

He accepted it all with a smile.

Beside him, Li Hui felt as if his head was about to explode.

At that moment, Liu Shiqi and the others also came forward, each presenting a priceless gift. In comparison, Li Hui's 100,000 yuan gift seemed like a pathetic joke.

Standing to the side, Liu Jia had a blank expression. My rise to prominence was all thanks to Chen Zheng, and I knew Han Yu Group had a hand in it, but I never expected him to be the man behind it all. That makes sense, though. How else could Han Yu Group have replaced the lead actress and given me the script just because of his phone call?

Her gaze toward Chen Zheng softened for a moment, but then the memory of Wang Rui returned, and a bitter smile touched her lips. She glanced at the two people beside her, and the smile on her face deepened. A moment later, she looked up, the smile gone, replaced by the look of someone enjoying the drama and hoping it would escalate.

The gestures from Chen Zheng's group left everyone stunned. Gu Xiaobai looked very proud, clearly satisfied with the effect. This was exactly the kind of shock he had wanted to create.

...

By now, Professor X had already gotten quite a distance away. He suddenly stopped and looked up. A massive meteorite, looking like an airplane, was streaking across the blue sky and heading rapidly in this direction.

Professor X stopped, caressing his cane with a smile. "It's been a long time since I've had to act. Just like with Zhuo Ming."

"Uncle! Auntie!"

Just then, a young boy ran up to him. "Did you see? There's something flying in the sky!"

Professor X bent down beside him and asked with a smile, "You saw it too, little one?"

"What's happening? Is it aliens? Are they coming to attack us?" the boy asked. "Or could it be Ultraman coming to save us?"

The world of a child is always so innocent.

Professor X chuckled and ruffled the boy's hair. "There's no such thing as Ultraman here, little one. You must have a scientific spirit!" The man was clearly a foreigner, but he spoke with perfect, unaccented fluency.

"Oh!"

The next moment, a blast of air erupted from his body as the boy watched in astonishment.
