The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 384 Sin City

Meanwhile, at the command center of the Night Watch Corps, Zhuo Ming and Wang Hong were at their posts. The two elders had enjoyed a few leisurely days, as they had kept the news of the ghost invasion under wraps. The two old fellows were indeed at ease, scrolling through TikTok and looking at pretty girls, living quite comfortably.

Of course, this was all on the condition that a certain devil stayed away.

BAM!

Just as the two were sipping their tea, the door was slammed open again.

"Where's Chen Zheng?" A pretty woman with a round face burst in. "Wasn't Chen Zheng supposed to be back by now? It's been over twenty days. Did he run off?"

"Yu Qin," Wang Hong placated, "you need to have some self-awareness. I think you should go back to Yuzhou. Chen Zheng won't be back anytime soon. Besides, your supposed engagement to Chen Zheng is invalid!"

"I don't care!" Li Yuqin retorted. "He promised me! He said that even if he died, he'd be mine! We exchanged engagement rings, so I am going to marry him!"

Wang Hong's head was about to explode.

"He's in the City of Sin right now!" Realizing he could no longer hide it, Wang Hong just came out with the truth.

Li Yuqin's eyes flashed. "You're the ones who brought me here, so I don't care about the details. I must see Chen Zheng, or I'll raise hell!"

Zhuo Ming frowned. "Yu Qin, how about this? I'll make a deal with you. If you can fully translate and comprehend all the writings of the Fang Tribe, I'll approve your marriage to Chen Zheng. If he refuses, I'll break both his legs!"

"Are you sure?" Li Yuqin asked, stunned.

"Yes," Zhuo Ming confirmed, then added, "But this agreement is contingent on you actually finishing the translation."

"I..." A glint of excitement shone in Li Yuqin's eyes. "I've already deciphered some of the ghost language."

"What?"

Zhuo Ming was completely baffled. What is going on?

A sly gleam crossed Li Yuqin's eyes. "Oh, right! I've been so focused on Chen Zheng that I almost forgot. That's actually what I came to talk to you about. I even brought some documents!"

Zhuo Ming and Wang Hong exchanged stunned looks.

Zhuo Ming slammed his palm on the table. "I was too hasty!"

"So, can you take me there?" Li Yuqin asked.

"Fine!" Zhuo Ming, determined to get this vixen off his hands, pressed a button on his desk. "Lyu Yang, get over here now!"

"Huh? Are you really letting me go?" Lyu Yang's voice came through the comms. "I should've just gone myself. I could be taking out Teluos as we speak!"

"Yes, I promise! Just hurry up and get here!" Zhuo Ming exclaimed, his head throbbing.

「At that moment, a helicopter identical to the last one lifted off from the Huaxia Night Watch Corps base, heading for the City of Sin.」

Chen Zheng, completely unaware of the situation at the base, had slept for a few hours on the helicopter before a noise jolted him awake.

"Where am I?"

Lin Maoshi had been knocked unconscious. When he came to, he found himself lying in an empty helicopter. Looking around, he finally spotted Chen Zheng sleeping nearby.

"Chen Zheng, where are you taking me? What the hell are you doing?" Lin Maoshi felt like he was about to lose his mind.

Startled awake, Chen Zheng turned to see Lin Maoshi and smiled.

He stepped forward and looked Lin Maoshi up and down. "Honestly, I've always wondered if Lin Xiaoya is even your child. Why else would you treat her like that?"

Lin Maoshi ground his teeth. "What's it to you? This is my family's business. Let me go!"

"Sigh... You're scum. It's better you're left to fend for yourself," Chen Zheng said, turning away from him.

Lin Maoshi was taken aback, then clenched his jaw. "Chen Zheng, what you're doing is illegal!"

"TSK!" Chen Zheng scoffed. "You're one to talk about the law. Shut your mouth, unless you want a beating."

Seeing that Chen Zheng wasn't joking and that no one was around to help, Lin Maoshi gritted his teeth and fell silent. Chen Zheng returned to his seat and dozed off again.

Seven or eight hours later, a flight attendant entered and announced their arrival.

Chen Zheng glanced out the window. Sure enough, an island was floating on the water below. He grabbed a parachute pack, walked over to Lin Maoshi, and hauled him to his feet.

"What are you trying to do?" Lin Maoshi yelped, startled.

Chen Zheng just smiled at him while Ming Chong moved to the side and slid open the cabin door.

At an altitude of over 10,000 meters, a blast of frigid air rushed into the cabin. A look of sheer terror crossed Lin Maoshi's face.

Chen Zheng kicked Lin Maoshi toward the open doorway. "Jump!"

Jump. He had to jump.

Lin Maoshi's face went white. If he fell from this height, he'd surely die.

"I won't!"

He clung desperately to the edge of the doorframe, refusing to budge.

Ming Chong frowned, grabbed Lin Maoshi, and unceremoniously kicked him out of the helicopter.

What a racket.

"AHHH!"

"HELP! HELP ME!"

Lin Maoshi's piercing screams faded into the distance. Chen Zheng chuckled lightly and then leaped out after him.

Obviously, he wasn't going to let Lin Maoshi die, but he was definitely going to terrify him to his core. Compared to how he had treated Lin Xiaoya, Chen Zheng felt this punishment was quite mild.

Chen Zheng wore a smile as he listened to Lin Maoshi's screams. At that moment, Lin Maoshi's heart was filled with utter despair. The island below drew closer and closer until it was only a hundred meters away.

Chen Zheng's True Qi erupted, and he instantly appeared beside Lin Maoshi. He grabbed the man and pulled the ripcord on his parachute.

Lin Maoshi trembled all over, though it was impossible to tell if it was from the cold or from fear.

Chen Zheng landed gently on a sandy beach, a placid smile on his face.

With a flick of his wrist, he tossed Lin Maoshi onto the sand.

Lin Maoshi collapsed on the ground, his face a mask of terror and shock. He stared blankly at Chen Zheng, his mind too numb with fear to even recognize him.

By then, Ming Chong had already landed nearby. He straightened his clothes. "Let's go."

Chen Zheng nodded, stowing the Sky-splitting Sword and the unnamed sword. Without giving Lin Maoshi another glance, he turned and walked away.

He left Lin Maoshi there to fend for himself. Knowing the man's temperament, Chen Zheng was certain that even if he wasn't killed, he would still face a severe reckoning.
