The Strongest Prodigy Doctor

Chapter 218: Mysterious Island

"Could it be that it's survivors from a previous shipwreck who built these structures?" Qin Hu suggested with a frown.

However, as soon as he said this, Ren Ningyue rolled her eyes at Qin Hu: "Have you ever seen shipwreck survivors who carry concrete bricks with them?"

At that moment, Ye Tianfan finally understood why Qin Hu just silently followed behind Ren Ningyue, rarely speaking. It turns out the guy had suffered a brain injury, his IQ isn't quite online!

The structures on the small island clearly had a steel-reinforced concrete structure; calling them buildings was less accurate than calling them a military fort.

Ye Tianfan glanced at Ren Ningyue and whispered, "Don't tell me this is one of your Celestial Punishment Team's secret bases."

"Impossible!" Ren Ningyue quickly shook her head and whispered, "Look at those buildings, they clearly have some years on them. The outer walls have lost quite a bit of their concrete. I estimate they're relics from the last century, probably leftovers from World War II."

"I think we should head over to take a look first." Qin Hu resumed paddling with effort, the lifeboat slowly inching toward the shoreline.

Simultaneously, both Ye Tianfan and Ren Ningyue furrowed their brows.

"Did you see that?" Ye Tianfan asked quietly.

"I saw it," Ren Ningyue nodded.

Just as the lifeboat approached the shoreline, Ye Tianfan and Ren Ningyue almost simultaneously saw a blurry figure; the figure disappeared in a flash, darting from the man-high grass into the dilapidated fortress-like structure.

"Slow down, Qin Hu. Be careful, there are people," Ren Ningyue whispered, and Qin Hu quickly reduced his paddling speed, as the lifeboat slowly moved to the shore.

Just then, more than a dozen figures darted out of the grass one after another and neatly filed into the building.

This scene caused both Ye Tianfan and Ren Ningyue to feel a chill in their hearts simultaneously.

Their way of moving and their actions clearly showed they were trained rigorously, it seems this small island is not simple, there must be a highly disciplined organization on the island!

The lifeboat gradually approached the shoreline, and after the three landed on the island, they almost without pause dashed toward the densest parts of the jungle on the island.

They didn't know yet who the mysterious organization on the island was, be it friend or foe, but hiding themselves first and observing in the shadows was always the right choice.

After dashing across the open shoreline, they plunged into the dense forest. Now, Ye Tianfan's priority was to replenish his energy and water, as the experience of soaking in the ocean all night the previous evening had been unpleasant.

"Listen, that's the sound of a stream," Ye Tianfan whispered and gestured to the left front of the forest where the sound was coming from.

Ren Ningyue nodded: "Let's go check it out."

As soon as Ren Ningyue finished speaking, Ye Tianfan turned to move forward but suddenly noticed an extremely thin, transparent thread in front of him.

"Stop!"

Ye Tianfan quickly whispered and halted his steps.

"What's the matter?" Ren Ningyue asked in a low voice, furrowing her brows.

"Look," Ye Tianfan stepped aside slightly to allow Ren Ningyue to see the concealed thread in front of him.

"A trap!" Ren Ningyue's expression shifted as she looked around towards either side following the thread.

During her training with the Celestial Punishment Team, Ren Ningyue had seen many similar traps. A thread would trigger explosives if touched—a very dangerous outcome.

"It's the Bamboo Leaf Flying Knife. The people on this island are from the Ancient Martial Realm." Ye Tianfan's face tightened as he followed the thread and found it was tied to a highly elastic plant, and to its tip was affixed a sharpened Bamboo Sword.

The tip of this Bamboo Sword was spiked with barbs, making extracting it from the body difficult once it penetrates, plus the sword appeared jet black, clearly poisoned, adding a second layer of threat. Any injury from this sword was troublesome.

"Indeed, it's an Ancient Martial Realm method." Ren Ningyue's face became grim. While the military had similar traps, they weren't as sinister as this.

"Be careful, I sense there are other traps in this forest!" After a call of caution, Ye Tianfan carefully leapt over the fine thread.

All three proceeded alertly toward the depths of the forest, continuously hearing the stream's flowing sound but never locating its exact position.

Throughout this journey, Ye Tianfan had discovered more than a dozen well-camouflaged traps, each potentially lethal.

"Who on earth are the people on this island?" Ye Tianfan murmured with furrowed brows.

Just at that moment, Ren Ningyue suddenly whispered, "Careful! There's someone behind you!"

Upon hearing, Ye Tianfan quickly turned, feeling a sharp wind brushing past his shoulder. Looking up, he saw a young man in black tactical gear wielding a light crossbow.

"Who are you?" Ye Tianfan intended to dash forward and subdue the young man but realized a trap lay between them!

Rushing over recklessly would certainly not end well.

"Swoosh swoosh swoosh..."

The young man offered no reply, instead shooting rapid volleys with his crossbow, aiming for Ye Tianfan's head.

"Hmph, do you think you can kill me with just this crossbow?"

Though unaware of the young man's identity, it was clear he bore no good intentions. Ye Tianfan clenched his hand, his internal force surging, effortlessly catching all incoming arrows.

Upon seeing this, the young man turned to flee without hesitation.

"Stop, don't run!"

Ye Tianfan cautiously stepped forward, dodging two traps, and looked toward the young man's fleeting direction.

The young man's figure was already gone; in such a complex forest with traps all around, Ye Tianfan couldn't employ the Ye Family's Ultimate Technique, [Wind Walk], while the young man seemed familiar with the forest's terrain, running faster than a rabbit, impossible to catch.

Now, Ren Ningyue cautiously arrived as well, seeing Ye Tianfan standing still, she asked, "Where is he? Did you let him escape?"

Ye Tianfan sneered, "If you have the skills, you chase him."

"You..."

Ren Ningyue was momentarily frustrated, unable to chase the young man in such an environment, letting him leave without options.

"Look over there, the stream,"

Qin Hu, who had been following behind, seemed to notice something. He pointed north, revealing a winding stream ahead of Ye Tianfan and Ren Ningyue.

Having endured a whole night at sea, freshwater was of utmost importance to them.

"Never mind, let's get some water," Ye Tianfan murmured and made his way toward the stream.
