Chapter 131: Demonic energy

Raze stood inside the manor, but it felt eerily empty. He used God's Eye inside and the force that had been blocking him was still there; he couldn't see anything.

"This place feels off," Gavin said, looking around. The house was lit properly, yet it felt like there was a darkness.

"What do we do now?" Emilia asked.

"Upstairs first, let's see what's happening there," Raze said, but before they could move, they heard the sound of the front door creaking.

"Shit, we have to hide," Raze said. They all rushed back into the store and slowly closed the door.

A few moments later, the sound of a metal boot hitting the ground resounded against the hard wooden floor. The footsteps got closer and closer, and then finally came to a stop right outside the storeroom.

They all held their breaths as the person stood there. After a while, the footsteps started going away from the door. They thought they were in the clear, but then suddenly—

STAB!

A sword penetrated the door of the storeroom; luckily, it didn't go any more.

"Shit," Raze cursed and then stretched out his hands, casting Water Cannon. A powerful blast of water shot into the door, removing it from its hinges and pushing the door to slam into the captain.

The captain was hit by the door and was pushed back, slamming into a wall. The four of them came out of the storeroom. The captain threw the door off him and stood there, eyes burning behind the helmet.

He lifted his sword at them. "You have signed your death. You should have stayed and left when the sun came up," he said, his voice sounding slightly metallic because of the helmet.

"You guys are definitely doing something to this town, and I want to know what," Raze said. He took out his bat and got into a stance.

The captain didn't say anything else. He stomped his foot into the ground. The floor trembled as he lunged forward. Inside this enclosed space of the manor, he still managed to swing the greatsword with ease and freedom.

Raze dodged the attack, the wind brushing against his skin and slicing his cheek, blood flying into the air. But his eyes locked onto the captain. He stepped forward and to the side, swinging for the side of the captain, but he blocked it with his arm and then proceeded to stretch the arm, grabbing Raze by the hair.

"Arghhhhh!" he roared as he pulled Raze in to slam his head into the wall, but Gavin came from the side, thrusting at full strength, targeting the chest. The captain was forced to step back and dodge, allowing Raze to pull free and attack immediately. His bat slammed into the head of the captain.

Clang!

The sound of two metals colliding rang out, but the captain wasn't even knocked back in the slightest. Gavin and Raze immediately retreated a few steps.

"Emily, Ella, check what's up with this house, we'll hold him back," Raze said.

Emily looked at Ella, and Ella nodded at her. Both of them rushed forward. The captain reacted, moving to intercept the way upstairs.

But Raze wasn't letting him. He used Teleportation, appearing right beside the captain with a swing already wound up. Channeling his Qi and Mana at the same time, the bat exploded with flames that compressed before the attack landed.

BOOM!

The captain was sent back, slamming into the wall, the side of his armor heavily dented. Both girls rushed up after Raze cleared the way.

Raze and Gavin stood side by side while the captain rose to his feet, pissed at them.

"I've had enough of you four. Prepare to die!" he bellowed, his energy immediately spiking, but it wasn't Mana, it was demonic energy. Pure, unadulterated demonic energy. It wrapped around the sword and turned into a black flame.

"Since you have come inside here, you'll have to die," he said.

"Demonic energy," Raze muttered. "You are from the demon cult."

"Hahaha hahaha!" he burst into laughter. "The demon cult? I would never be part of those wannabes. I am a true messenger of the demonic beast," he said, pride filling his voice.

Huff. Huff. Huff.

Raze suddenly heard heavy breathing from beside him. He looked to his side and it was Gavin. He stood there, eyes turned red, buckets of sweat forming on his face.

"Dem-demon," Gavin growled. He gripped his sword, gritting his teeth. His face twisted like a demon.

"I'll kill you."

Boom. His foot cracked the floor as he lunged forward like a rocket, thrusting his sword. The captain parried the attack, and the force from the attack slammed into the wall and shattered it.

The captain looked at Gavin through the helmet. He was shocked by the sudden show of strength, but he wasn't fazed. After all, he was channeling demonic energy now. For sure he would take down the—

The bat came flying right into the head of the captain. Raze teleported to the bat, grabbed it midair, and swung it down at full speed.

"Arghhhhhh!" The captain pushed Gavin back quickly and then raised his sword, blocking the attack from above. But what he didn't expect was for Gavin to come back as fast as he did. Gavin went low, slashing through the gaps of the armor, his eyes burning with rage as the sword dug into the flesh. But Gavin didn't stop there.

"Die!" he roared and channeled his flames through his sword, condensing it at the tip and then exploding it. The force shattered the armor and blew a massive chunk off the captain's side.

But Gavin's rage wasn't quelled. He used one hand, thrusting it forward and casting, "Fireball!" He hurled the ball of flames right into the wound, following it up with an explosion that sent the man flying, slamming into the wall and rolling for a meter before coming to a stop, a trail of blood left behind.
