The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 185: Spar

"Probably the monsters. No, it must be the monsters," She replied with a little smirk.

"That was my guess as well… anyway, we should get going now. We have no more business here,"

"Indeed. Athena and Ethel are just on a road trip for the next few days, so wait until they get back,"

I audibly groaned.

For the next few days, we all took this chance to relax a bit more and also… talk to this little tarantula who Ethel left behind.

Athena refused to go on the trip if she brought it, so Ethel reluctantly left it with us, and that might've been a terrible mistake.

Everybody here kept glaring at the poor tarantula, who was shivering in fear, in the corner of the hotel we were staying in.

"P-Please don't eat me!" She kept shouting.

"We're not going to fucking eat you! So just shut up and sit there!" I shouted, and the tarantula whimpered a bit.

On the second day of our relaxing trip, we decided to spar as boredom had caught up with us, and first, it was between myself and Clio.

After obtaining tons of power, she became a bit cocky, so we went to the local gym and rented out a private room for us to spar in.

Alright… let's do this.

Mia lifted the illusions from our bodies, revealing our true power, which seemingly caused the air to creak.

It shifted from side to side as if it was about to faint.

Clio was suddenly dressed in a robe of sand, holding two sharp sickles that gave off a scent of death with them.

I decided to create an icy longsword as I knew I had to keep my distance from her since her speed was most likely her most powerful trait.

And, to add to her already cheat-like speed, she buffed herself to the point that she was coated in a gray aura… and a bit of brown.

"You like you're covered in shit," I snickered before dodging her first attack, which was aimed for my torso.

She spun around mid-air to try and hit me as I ducked down, but I placed the blade of the sword along my back, blocking it and preventing my sword from shattering.

It was made of magic and not a real material, and when used against Clio's power, it could probably get shattered instantly.

"So not cute," I muttered before placing my foot under her right foot just as she was about to land, causing her to stumble a bit, and I used this chance to swing down on her.

Suddenly, her sickles disappeared into thin air, and she grabbed the ground with both hands, allowing her to swiftly shift out of the way of my sword and then lunge towards me.

I tried to sidestep, but she already anticipated this and moved her hand towards the right of where I was going.

She then grabbed my shirt and pulled me in for a punch that was sent flying towards my face at an unbelievable speed.

BOOM

I blocked it with my foot as I leaned back and supported my body with my right hand.

We were entangled, and if I used the momentum of the punch to spin around, she could easily land a hit as she already is aware of that move… so I'll have to do this.

I summoned a few swords of ice around her, but she nullified them with a blast of sand.

This seemed like a pointless move, but in reality, it helped me escape her grasp as her concentration shifted towards the sharp and icy swords for just a split second.

I punched her hand, bruising it a bit, and jumped backward, flipping and landing on my feet.

We were in our starting positions, but the bottom of my foot was bruised, and Clio's hand was bruised… a bit even.

After sizing each other up for a bit, we rushed towards each other and decided to finally get serious.

Krkkkkk

A blast of ice came from my feet, threatening to envelop Clio whole, but just as the ice was about to swallow her, she released a blast of sand.

It stopped the ice for just a split second, but as the sand turned to ice, I controlled it and trapped her in a binding of icy rope.

Hundreds of massive ice swords appeared around her and as soon as I snapped, they were sent flying towards her.

Her eyes shifted from side to side, gathering information and in just an instant, her body turned to sand… and appearing behind me.

"Gotcha," I muttered with a smile.

The shifting of her eyes from my swords were bait, and she tried to make me think she was going to block them with her skills… but in reality, she was spreading her sand behind me.

Krkkkkkk

A blast of spiky ice erupted from my back, piercing Clio's chest but for some reason, instead of a wound, there was just a whole of sand.

"Fucking cheater," I muttered before jumping forward but I was unable to dodge a few of flying sand sickles that sliced up my arms and face.

White blood dripped to the floor as I held my right arm which had been completely shredded and it was almost useless.

"I won," Clio muttered with a smile.

"What the hell was that? Are you invincible?" I asked and Clio's face shifted to a more serious expression.

"I guess you could say that, but in reality, you need a blast attack to actually harm me. Physical things with blades and shit will just get nullified by one of my skills which turns those wounds into holes of sand. If you sent a blizzard at me, I probably would've gotten wounded though," She explained.

"Interesting… Well, I admit defeat. If I knew you had that though, I would've just done that from the start… but fair is fair," I said before the next sparring duo came up… and this was a long awaited one.

Nuala and Electra.
