The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 205: A Strange New World

"Well, it's not that I needed any more information than that," I muttered before slicing his head off and then proceeding to burn all the corpses into absolutely nothing.

[You resonate with the portal beside you]

After making my way back, I sat in Mia's lap, and without hesitation, she began to comb my hair with a beautiful wooden comb that she had stored in her inventory.

"Geez, your hair is pretty tangled right now,"

The night was quickly approaching and the sun had soon fallen as we all rested on this ruined wasteland tainted with the broken shards of a massive tree of ice.

"But I just combed it this morning," I muttered and for some reason, Mia didn't respond, so I turned around and to my surprise, she stole my lips.

It was a calm, loving, and deep kiss instead of a sexual and almost seductive one which she also uses with her tongue.

"I love you," She muttered after pulling away.

"Why are you saying it like we won't see each other again?" I asked and Mia just gave me a warm smile before laying down on the soft snow and pulling me into her grasp.

"Nothing… Just… Something in the future will tear us apart and I'm hoping we will be able to reunite with the same love," She said.

"Huh? What is going to tear us apart?" I asked and she just gave me a warm yet longing smile.

Is it one of her skills? Did she see something in the future? Is there a reason why she can't tell me? Probably a condition for that skill, right?

I had a thousand questions and the only thing I could respond with was,

"We'll definitely find each other again," I said before hugging her and she just gave me a kiss atop my head.

But, the next morning, I was in a completely different world.

As soon as I snapped open my eyes, the feeling of soft snow brushing against the back of my neck sent a chill down my spine.

I was in a winter wonderland with a plane of snow as far as the eyes could see… until I turned around of course.

My head swirled behind me and I noticed a large medieval-looking kingdom in the distance and it looked to be impossible to see the very end of it.

It absolutely massive.

Grrrrrr

But, before I could process everything that was happening, the growling of a wolf came in the front of me, so I snapped my head forward… but it wasn't a wolf.

A four-legged beast with white fur and a long neck that had the head of a polar bear was growling at me with a menacing aura.

It was at least five times the size of me and the ice blue gem at the center of its long neck continuously emit a blue glow.

"You couldn't make the weak point any more obvious?" I muttered to myself before summoning a blast of rainbow flames in my hand and then forming it into a sword which I swung downwards in order to adjust the weight appropriately.

I wasn't completely efficient at creating weapons so sometimes I make them too heavy or too light and swinging them downwards was the best way to see whether you made it one of these.

SHING

In an instant, I killed the polar bear with a long neck with my inhumane stats and after smelling the stench of blood, I swung my sword downwards once again in order to rid the blood off my blade.

"Alright. Now, let's go over there," I muttered while scanning my surroundings but, to be honest, there was nothing much to scan.

A large kingdom in the distance and everything around me was like a desert of white.

[Feather Servant]

A stinging pain erupted from my back and a feather soon flew out of the long white robe that essentially draped over my entire body.

"Mistress, you called?" The maid in her usual maid attire asked.

"Do you know where this place is? I assume this is where my current race is from and I'm assuming where you came from," I asked the maid and after looking at her surroundings, her eyes widened a bit.

"I see… Well, unfortunately, you got one thing wrong, Mistress. I am not from here because I was created by the system but at least I do have some recollection of this races' background," She responded.

"Then, do you know where this place is or where I should go? Or should I just go ahead and enter that large kingdom over there?" I asked yet another question while gesturing for the kingdom in the distance.

"We should tread carefully Mistress as this place is something you are most likely unfamiliar with. This place is the home to two races… First, the Yetis and then the predominant species, Tundra Snakes which take humanoid forms," The maid said and all of a sudden, we both sensed something.

SHING

My maid created a few knives of ice and flung them at a snake slithering through the snow, trapping it down to the ground as it hissed in pain.

"This is a familiar Mistress. Should we do something about it?" She asks while I put away my daggers of rainbow flames.

"Is it possible to extract information from it?"

But before my maid could tell me anything, the snake disappeared into a few balls of light that were then sent flying towards the kingdom.

So, we began our slow and strenuous walk towards the kingdom as it felt like something was watching us.

"Have you tried to contact the other girls through your hivemind?" My maid asked such a stupid question and I just rolled my eyes, clearly enough information for her to shut up.

"Who do you think I am?"

"Forgive me…"

Of course, I've already tried that, but in the end, there was absolutely no contact though there is one more thing I could try.

"*sigh*... I'll forgive you if you protect me right now. I'm going to be out for probably thirty minutes to an hour so just protect me until I'm finished," I ordered the maid, and eager to redeem herself, she quickly agreed.

I quickly sat down on the soft snow and began to slow my breathing.

Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect… Connect…

I repeated the same thing over and over until I entered an unconscious-like state.

The old and nostalgic sight had changed a bit like the small pond in the center of the floating island amidst the abyss had a few dead fish in it.

The water was murky and unkept while the small wooden shacks, just enough to fit a few weapons inside of it were dilapidated and coated in blood.

"Settle down, you bastard," I muttered as I gazed over the edge of the island and stared down into the abyss where I was met with a few tentacles that tried to grab me.

I then worked my way backward and began to clean up the place as I waited for any of the girls to connect to this lonesome island.

It had been a few years since we used this thing and if I had to guess, most of the girls probably forgot about this place.

You could call it a kind of hub that people with a hivemind could connect to and it basically built off of our consciousness.

We can shift to however we want it to be and this was the thing we all settled on since most of us had opposing viewpoints.

"*sigh*... Seems I'm the only one," I muttered before looking over the tidied-up island and then jumping into the abyss.

"*gasp*... HUFF… HUFF… HUFF… HUFF…"

I awoke in a prison cell, my wrists and ankles chained together and the stench of blood filling my nostrils.

"Alright, fighter 782, get ready!" Somebody outside of the prison bars shouted and a normal longsword dropped from the ceiling.

It clanged against the hard stone floor and before I could even figure out what was happening, as everything had suddenly shifted again, the prison doors were unlocked and two men dragged me out of my cell.

I soon noticed the illusion on my body had disappeared and the guards had the same white scales as me.

"Shit," I muttered before being hit with a blast of light as I was pushed through a large stone gate.

ORRRRAAAAAAAAAA

A large shout and cry of what seemed to be an audience deafened my ears.

The blinding light had soon faded and the one thing before me was a large yeti covered from head to toe in scars and it was drooling ferociously.

"NOW! WE HAVE A NEW CHALLENGER! ONE TRAITOROUS WENCH VERUUUUSSSSSS… YOUR FAVORITE BEAST! THE DEVOURER OF SNAKES! THE DEMON OF THE ICY PLANES! YORUUUUUUUUU THE MONSTROUS YETI!" An announcer called out the names of both of us.

Wench? Me? A wench?!
