Mama was always outward and yelled or had such a stern voice, while mother had a cold expression and normally just stayed silent, which was more than enough for me to learn from my mistakes.
"I'm telling you, it's a misunderstanding-"
"Don't back-talk me," She swiftly interrupted, and as her pressure weighed down on the back of my head, I could only hang it until it felt as if it was about to rip clean off. "Did you at least put them in a wheelchair?"
I looked up and saw mama slightly smirking with the pressure gone, and as she moved a small glowing green solution towards me, I opened my mouth.
"Of course," I grinned, and mama smiled back with an almost ear-to-ear grin.
"That's good… assholes like him deserve to be buried six feet under. Though, next time, let us handle it. I don't want you to ruin your high school experience just because you got a bit feisty," Mama smiled and slowly stood up from her chair.
"Okay… also, what is this?" I asked as the glowing green solution emitted a strong smell that took my nose by the reins and attempted to drag me into the land of the dead.
It wasn't putrid nor disgusting… yet it still felt as if it had been concocted with the souls of a thousand warriors.
"That's a potion I made in my spare time. Drink it or not, it's up to you," Mama muttered before hugging me from behind the chair and showering the top of my head with a thousand kisses. "Hmm…."
"What's wrong?" I asked as mama ruffled my hair.
"You not only need a haircut but when was the last time you washed your hair?" Mama asked, and I flinched at the question.
I had been taking quick showers but had just barely rinsed my hair… I mean, I really needed to catch up on my studies.
"I-I was busy and… I-I really needed to focus on my studies," I came up with a swift excuse, but it seemed she wasn't buying it.
"Then go take a nice and relaxing bath now. Well, shower first and then go take a bath… you'll just how grand that place is," Mama smirked, and so I quickly left the room with her as she directed me to the bathhouse inside her massive castle.
It looked like an indoor hot spring which made me nearly jump with joy as not only was it beautiful, but the water looked just the perfect temperature.
"Do you want to take a shower with Mama?" I heard a voice call from outside the bathhouse and just as a woman peaked her head through the entrance, I quickly wrapped my naked body with a towel and sent her out.
She was so goddamn embarrassing…
…
The very next day started off pretty easy, but then it slowly began to grow more stressful by the hour.
I started off the morning with breakfast by myself, which I was pretty used to, but the same lonely feeling continued to hang in the air.
Even my maids, who I ordered to sit down and have breakfast with me, couldn't fill that small hole in my heart.
"Is she busy?" I asked all three of them.
"Of course. Your mother is currently out right now helping manage some small branches personally, as there was a previous breakout of some virus. It caused tons of chaos, but at least a cure had been made within only a few days,"
"A virus just appeared like that? Is that possible?"
"Well, your mother thought it was artificially created by some terrorists, but don't worry about that. You're safe up here, and your mother can't really contract diseases… hmmm… well, she can carry them. Just stay safe,"
"Yes,"
After breakfast, I made my way to the library, where I met up with my first tutor, who kind of seemed like an asshole.
The way she carried herself was quite arrogant, but because she was close to my mother, I didn't complain.
She put me through a rigorous amount of work that I had to memorize within only a few hours in order to receive a good note for the day.
At the end of each day, she was required to report my progress, whether that was good or bad, and I didn't really want to find out what mama would say if the report was bad.
She might encourage me or even help me out with the topics I struggled with… but for some reason, I don't think that's how it would go.
This teacher just… I don't know. I didn't like her.
If she pulled anything funny or out of line, I would put her in her place or just tell mama exactly what happened… honestly, both would work fine.
After a silent and lonely lunch by myself, I met up with my combat tutor, who I met on the training grounds of this castle.
One part of it was covered by a stone roof, so the snow didn't really make its way into this part.
The outside part, though, was where most of the knights within this castle trained… though I doubt mama needed that kind of protection.
This man was much nicer than my academic tutor and really helped me build a good foundation that I was lacking in the way I fought with hand-to-hand combat.
I mean, this was something I picked up early in this life since I was never a close-combat kind of person in my past life.
I felt being a mage was good, but not enough in certain circumstances, so I knew I had to become like my mother… who was not only a mage but also wielded a sword in tandem with her magic.
"Huff… huff… huff… the air… is so damn thin up here," I muttered as I was gasping for air after just a quick jog.
And all while this was happening, the knights were still running circles at an even pace in their actual metal armor.
What monsters…
