SSS Ranked Awakening: Starting With My Limitless Cosmic Shadow System

Chapter 0058: Second Target...

"Ruka... age 40... Crimes: a notorious bandit leading a group of more than a hundred people and is fond of harassing merchants and passersby. Strength: estimated to be at the Galaxy Realm. Ability: Fire control. Mission rewards: 10,000 gold coins."

Modret read through the information on his next target as he left the Nether Faction, heading in the direction of the forest.

As he came back to reject the mission, the lady from before just shook her head, almost laughing herself to tears.

Modret could imagine her thoughts in that moment, as it hadn't even been an hour, but he didn't mind.

Soon, he left the city. On his way, he encountered five guards stationed outside the gate.

Before they could stop him, he flashed them his Nether Faction's badge.

Instantly, all five men froze in their tracks, bowing respectfully before Modret as he headed in the direction of the forest.

The moment he stepped out, he wrinkled his nose slightly as a particular smell entered it.

'The smell of roasted meat? No... the smell of burnt animal?'

Having a guess in his heart on who it was, Modret's figure vanished, heading in the direction of the smell.

A few minutes passed before he finally reached the location of the smell permeating through the surroundings.

The moment he arrived, a thick purple bolt of lightning raced through the air, heading in his direction.

Calmly, Modret jumped off a branch as the bolt of lightning crashed onto it, causing it to explode, the wood flying around.

"No longer harboring respect for the young master, huh?" Modret chuckled lightly.

Freezing in his tracks, Axel finally realized it was Modret.

Stunned, he quickly bowed down and apologized.

Modret waved him off, "Come, there's somewhere we're going. There you will be able to increase your strength to a large extent."

"Increase my strength drastically?" Axel looked stunned.

After spending roughly eight hours here in the forest, his strength had been increasing at a steady pace; it was almost as though he were cultivating at the normal speed he did when he was alive.

However, knowing Modret, he wouldn't lie about such a thing. Faintly excited, he trailed along as Modret led the way, their figures flickering like ghosts as lightning crackled around them.

Modret's speed was extremely swift, yet Axel was able to match his pace.

His lips twitched as he thought internally, 'Hmph, I am the young master here, it's only natural that I am faster.'

With that thought, the lightning flickering around his body grew intense, and his speed increased once more.

Axel didn't know whether to laugh or cry at Modret's competitiveness.

He could only reduce his speed to a normal level, and soon they finally reached the location of loud voices resounding into the surroundings.

Modret paused in his movements, Axel also coming to a stop behind him as they stared at the unfolding scene.

"According to the intel from the Nether Faction, Ruka should be engaged in a fight about this time. However, I didn't expect it to be this intense..."

Hearing Modret's mutters, Axel gradually understood.

He glanced around, yet he couldn't spot exactly who Ruka was; there were two distinct people, though.

Both were middle-aged men who looked to be in their forties. However, one of them had dark brown hair with a few gray streaks already forming on him, while the other man had a much muscular build with dark green hair.

They both sat atop their respective massive, bull-like beasts as they watched the battle between their subordinates unfold.

Modret's gaze lingered on the man with black hair for a few minutes before he turned to Axel.

"We'll be dealing with the one on the left first, along with all his subordinates."

"Alright." Axel nodded, lightning flickering in his eyes. He looked as though he was already ready to attack at any moment.

Modret laughed, then said, "Axel, let's see who will kill more bandits..."

Immediately Modret finished speaking, his figure vanished into a burst of lightning sparks, leaving the stunned Axel.

He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, 'What's with the young master's sudden competitiveness?'

Although he had this thought, his eyes flickered with a hint of competitiveness as he also vanished into a burst of lightning.

Both Ruka and the other man looked stunned seeing flashes of lightning suddenly erupting violently on the battlefield.

Axel was like a monster, clad completely in lightning as he constantly released bolts of lightning precisely onto the group of bandits they had spoken about.

His eyes were stern, and in his line of sight, it was as though the trajectory of everyone's movement were lined up perfectly.

Each bolt of lightning that erupted from his body didn't miss its target, striking fiercely onto the bandits with precise accuracy and killing them off completely.

Meanwhile, Modret was no less of a monster. Around him, black flames spread like a domain, and within the black flame domain, which made him have a small world of his own, purple lightning crackled around.

If Axel was like an angel of destruction, Modret was like the devil from the abyss with some traces of divinity, reaping the lives of everyone in his path.

Since they were in a competition, Modret and Axel were fighting at their best, and within a few minutes, they had already killed more than fifty bandits with only a few remaining.

The eyes of everyone on the battlefield were filled with horror at the display of such monstrosity, and the bandits from Ruka's side didn't dare make any move.

Noticing that Modret and Axel were only killing bandits from the other group, they didn't dare offend them in the slightest.

The attack continued for roughly a minute before both figures simultaneously came to a stop, their eyes still filled with fighting intent.

Modret never expected he would feel such exhilaration from competing with someone.

He grinned wildly and laughed, feeling a joy unlike any he had felt before.

Axel also had a smile on his face, and his emotions were hard to suppress.

Suddenly, a loud shout interrupted both youths.

The shout was filled with anger and fury as the man with gray hairs glared at them fiercely, roaring with a loud voice.

He seemed as though he might erupt at any time.

Modret just glanced at Axel, then said smoothly, "Can you handle him, or should I do the honors?"

"Young master, you underestimate me a lot..."
