SSS Ranked Awakening: Starting With My Limitless Cosmic Shadow System

Chapter 0065: Abyssal Phantom

Modret's mind raced with thoughts.

'Axel showed me a single finger at the moment of his death. Does that mean I just have to resurrect him one more time, his potion will be completely digested, and he will awaken after taking the potion once more…'

Countless guesses surged through Modret's mind at Axel's gesture, but he ultimately settled for this one.

One more time!

One more chance, and Axel would awaken a bloodline!

'I wonder what kind of bloodline it will be?' Still annoyed at the fairy, Modret didn't bother to ask her.

He turned to the old man, who nodded, his eyes filled with curiosity.

Modret didn't stand on cue—a shadow puppet string shot out from his body and stuck onto the wall as he casually leaned off the cliff and… fell down.

Lightning surged through his body as his gaze pierced through the darkness.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

As though he was venting his anger, in the blink of an eye, Modret had killed more than five Celestials.

Shadows swirled endlessly and materialized around him.

Axel took form; however, his face was visibly paler.

Under the glow of the purple lightning from Modret, his face almost seemed completely white—a stark contrast to the darkness around them.

However, a dreadful pressure leaked out from him as though it might erupt at any time.

Internally, Modret could feel an oppressive might surging from his body, effortlessly wiping off the pressure as though disdaining it.

'A clash of bloodlines?' Modret didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

His bloodline that had always been so inactive was finally acting up.

Nevertheless, he couldn't deny it was a good thing.

"Are you alright?"

Axel nodded. "I think I am. Sorry for troubling you with my resurrection."

"No need to worry about it. You really like dying a lot, huh?" Modret casually remarked, causing a slight hint of embarrassment to surface on Axel's face.

"Nothing like that."

"Anyway, come… let's go awaken your bloodline!" Modret even sounded more excited than Axel.

The two returned back to the floating rock with a Celestial at the Galaxy Realm in their hands.

Time passed gradually, and soon, more than a few hours had passed.

The old man seemed to expect that Axel would be the one to take the potion, so he immediately handed it to Axel.

Axel smiled wryly but collected the potion nonetheless.

Without hesitation, he gulped it down…

This time, there was no change to Axel's body—no cracks, no movements at all…

However, Modret could feel Axel's growing aura as time passed.

The shattering sound they heard before resounded, this time louder.

It lasted longer, as though someone was constantly hammering glass, causing it to break into fragments.

In the silent abyss, the only thing that could be heard was the shattering sound that constantly made one's heartbeat skip.

Modret and the old man watched in tense silence as Axel's body trembled.

Finally, the shattering stopped… but only for a few seconds.

CRACK!!

With a resounding crash, a thunderous shattering sound caused even Axel to lose his composure and let out a guttural scream.

After that, a black mass burst out from him.

The black mass covered him like a cocoon, and after a short while, it began cracking up.

Crack! Crack! Crash!

Within a few seconds, the cocoon had completely shattered, revealing Axel's figure to the duo.

The first thing Modret sensed the moment the cocoon shattered was the renewed pressure surfacing from Axel.

It was the aura of someone at the peak of the Galaxy Realm!

'Damn!' Modret couldn't help but curse silently.

Aside from the change in strength, Axel had become far more handsome than Modret.

His face was completely chiseled, and every part of his body radiated handsomeness.

His jewel-like eyes seemed as though they could pull any girl into those bottomless pits.

Behind Axel, shadows twisted violently, and then something condensed from his back.

Modret rolled his eyes in exasperation.

'Oh, now he gets wings?'

[Congratulations. Your shadow has broken through the shackles of being a normal shadow, awakening a unique shadow bloodline and evolving into an Abyssal Phantom.]

'Damn!' Modret couldn't help but curse internally once more.

Axel finally finished his transformation, his calm, handsome face turning to Modret.

"Thank you, Master."

Modret's lips twitched, but he still replied noncommittally, "It's nothing."

Axel turned to the old man and bowed slightly in appreciation.

"Young master, please wait a moment while I get the Celestials needed to awaken your bloodline."

Before Modret could reply to Axel's words, the shadow wings behind him flapped, and countless shadow afterimages appeared in a trail at the location where Axel was.

Before long, Axel had disappeared into the darkness.

'He can actually fly?' Previously, Modret thought the wings were just there to make his transformation look cool; however…

Modret couldn't help but feel a hint of anticipation for his own bloodline awakening.

Smiling lightly, he glanced at the endless abyss…

'He should be okay, right?'

The moment he had that thought, a series of afterimages appeared once more on the floating rock, and Axel landed calmly on the ground.

Beside him were two Celestials.

Unnatural shadows twisted their limbs at impossible angles, keeping them in the same posture.

No matter how they tried to move or regenerate, their limbs could only remain twisted.

'Another Abyssal Phantom ability?' Modret's lips twitched at the thought.

The old man collected the bodies from Axel and began his process of bloodline extraction.

At the same time, Modret silently contemplated, 'The fairy said I won't die like Axel because I already possess the bloodline. However, I can't help feeling fearful…'

The corner of Modret's eyes shifted to Axel's imposing, handsome frame, and he couldn't help but shake his head internally.

More than a few hours passed in silence, and soon, the old man finally finished with the process.

In between, he had his "episodes," leading to the drastic extension of time.

'By now, almost three days have passed.'

As Modret collected the potion, he knew he couldn't delay any longer.

They had just four days before they would be unable to leave this place.

Hesitating for a brief instant, Modret finally gulped the bloodline awakening potion.

Everything was silent for a long while, then…
