Chapter 80: New base and home


The next day, after buying new smartphones and shopping for clothes, then returning to the hotel, Dylan immediately called George to finalize his house renovation and asked him to sell it, then called Sebastian to quit his job, even though he was scolded and advised against it. After that, he helped Maya talk with her supervisor at the restaurant. He also informed Robert about the current situation and asked Robert to save his new number.

After that, they all drove to Amy's grandfather's house in a rental car Dylan had temporarily secured before buying a new vehicle. They arrived at an old housing complex on the edge of the city that looked deserted and was mostly inhabited by old folks.

Amy pointed out her grandfather's house, which was at the back of the complex. The house looked like it had an antique design but featured a large plot of land, a high fence, and a wide, long, single-story building.

Amy opened the gate, and they all drove inside the fence. Inside, they were immediately greeted by an overgrown garden, neglected since the house had been empty, and the house building itself, which had an ancient and slightly mystical atmosphere, surrounded by the garden.

In the backyard, they saw a structure like a barracks that used to be employee quarters but was no longer in use. After entering the house, all the furniture was still there, covered in plastic to prevent dust.

The furniture looked antique but was still excellent quality and clearly usable. There were six bedrooms on the right and left wings of the house: five medium-sized rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a very spacious master bedroom in the back that also had an external bathroom accessible from the room.

The only thing the house lacked was electronics, as there was only a refrigerator in the kitchen that wasn't even plugged in because the central power had been intentionally shut off. After surveying everything,

"This house is good. Now, we start cleaning everything up," Dylan said.

"Can I choose a room, Big Sister Amy?" Fiona asked Amy cheerfully.

"Of course, you can," Amy replied with a smile.

"Me too... me too," Iris added.

"Yeah, feel free to pick the ones you like," Amy replied.

Without further delay, Fiona and Iris immediately went back to circling the house and picking rooms for themselves. Meanwhile, Dylan and the others started removing the plastic and cleaning the floors. Amy made a call to restore the electricity and Wi-Fi, then paid the charges.

Lena and Maya cleaned the kitchen so it could be used to cook dinner for them. After that, Dylan walked to the employee barracks building in the backyard, which was currently being used as a storage for unused items.

"Hmm... this building could be used... how about you move your basement under this building, KATS?" Dylan asked.

[Good idea, sir. This building isn't attached to the main house and won't be suspicious since it's already a storage location.]

"If that's the case, move it right now," Dylan said.

[Understood.]

[Secret basement moving process commencing...10...20...30...40...50...60...70...80...90...100...error...moving process failed.]

"Huh... why?" Dylan asked.

[It appears there is already another basement below, sir.]

"Huh... really? Tell me how to get in," Dylan said, stepping into the building.

"Creeaak," Dylan opened the door. Inside, he saw a hallway with two room doors on the right and two room doors on the left. Dylan stepped inside.

[Please go to the room at the far end on the left.]

Dylan walked down the hallway to the end, then stood in front of the door on the left. "Creeaak," he opened the door and went inside. The room was completely empty and dark because there were no windows at all.

[Turn on the light, sir.]

"Alright... where's the switch?" Dylan asked, pulling out his smartphone and turning on the flashlight, then looking around.

[On the wall at the end of the room, directly across from the door.]

Dylan walked across the room and stood in front of the wall, but he didn't see any light switch at all. He tried pointing his flashlight at the wall. Finally, he used his All Seeing Eye skill. His vision instantly became night vision, and he found a green box on the wall right in front of him. "Click," he pressed the button, whose color blended in with the wall and was completely invisible.

"Grek... gregek... Woooong,"

"Whoaaaaa," Dylan was shocked because the entire floor he was standing on began to descend.

"Hey, you said turn on the light... what the hell, I almost fell over backwards," Dylan muttered in his head as he watched the floor lowering like an elevator.

[It's all the same, sir.]

"Grr... please explain something in detail and everything, don't hold anything back," Dylan said in his head.

[Understood. Next time.]

"Always 'next time'," Dylan replied, annoyed.

The floor continued to descend. Dylan looked up, and the edge of the shaft already looked very far from the elevator floor. A short while later, "Gleng... Woooong," the elevator stopped. Dylan walked toward the iron door in front of him. "Grek... gregek," with his strength, he opened the door, which looked like it hadn't been opened in a very long time.

When the door was wide open and Dylan stepped inside, his eyes truly widened, and his mouth dropped open. What lay before him was a main bunker room that was incredibly vast and ancient, like a relic from a long-ago war.

But Dylan immediately saw a lot of trash like food wrappers, drink cans, and cigarette packs on a table. It seemed this bunker had been used as a mafia hideout and had just recently abandoned. He immediately walked through the vast bunker room. He saw weapons storage on the right, a shooting or training arena on the left, a gym with basic equipment and a boxing ring inside the room.

Then, a barracks with many rows of beds that didn't look as ancient as the bunker, and a fairly luxurious bathroom complete with a jacuzzi, a bathtub that could probably fit five people, and several showers mounted on the wall, separated by stalls.

"Wow... if this gets cleaned up, it could look like a hotel," Dylan said in his head.

[That is correct, sir. Do you want to move the basement and make it part of this bunker?]

"Can we do that?" Dylan asked.

[Of course, we can. We could use the barracks room, which is roughly the same size as our basement, or if necessary, we could add a new room the same size as the barracks.]

"Hmm... okay, let me think about it first... this is interesting. For our protection, we could all enter here, and it's quite comfortable too. Too bad there's no kitchen," Dylan muttered while looking around.

[Try going into the room next to the weapons storage, sir.]

Dylan walked toward the caged weapons storage and opened the door next to it. When he walked in, it turned out to be a dedicated, sizable kitchen, complete with gleaming—though dirty—equipment.

"Okay, KATS, just make a new room the size of those barracks, and we'll use this bunker as our headquarters," Dylan said, smiling.
