Painfully pulling out all of the wooden splinters that had been stuck inside her body from being thrown through several trees at a rather terrifying speed, Scaly slowly got back up again as she looked in the direction of where the battle between the heavenly lake serpents and mountain gnolls was still raging without showing any signs of coming to an end in the near future before she looked down towards the dead heavenly lake serpent not too far away.

At the moment, she had a few choices on what she could do, either she returned to the battlefield and tried looking for weakened heavenly lake serpents or mountain gnolls or she could stay where she was and eat the dead heavenly lake serpent.

Considering that it contained dragon blood, it wasn't a bad option for her to stay, as she definitely wouldn't be able to eat any of the heavenly lake serpents she killed in the middle of the chaotic battlefield.

In the end, Scaly didn't really think too much about it, as she soon bit into the dead heavenly lake serpent with a happy expression on her face before swallowing the piece of meat that she had already made sure didn't contain any wooden splinters.

And so, without a second thought, Scaly began digging into the body of the dead heavenly lake serpent in search of the heart.

Of course, given that she wasn't eating her way through the body of the heavenly lake serpent, her speed was much faster, and it didn't take long before she reached the area where the heart of the heavenly lake serpent was located.

Of course, given that she wasn't stuffing herself with dragon blood like in the past, it was still within her own limits, as the dragon blood now inside her stomach was being slowly absorbed.

At the current speed that it was being absorbed, it would at least take a day or two before it was fully absorbed but considering that she wasn't anywhere near the limits of her current evolution, Scaly didn't really mind this, as she soon made her way out of the dead body before turning her attention back towards the battle that was taking place in the distance.

Now that she only needed to eat the heart of the heavenly lake serpent, she still had enough time to join the battle and try to target some of the weakened monsters.

Not only that but considering that she only needed to eat the heart of the heavenly lake serpents, she might be able to get the heart of the dead heavenly lake serpents on the battlefield if she was fast enough.

The only problem was that she would be unaware of the situation outside while she was inside the body of any dead heavenly lake serpent, and it might result in her ending up surrounded if she was too slow… But the benefits of eating the hearts of the heavenly lake serpents were simply far too much for her to simply give up on.

With that in mind, Scaly decided to first try and see if she could sneak into the battlefield and harvest the hearts of the already dead heavenly lake serpents.

If that was too hard, she would go with her original plan of targeting a weakened heavenly lake serpent or mountain gnoll to kill. Preferably a heavenly lake serpent, as she would be able to harvest its heart after killing it.

As she finished coming up with her plans on how to go about the situation, Scaly didn't waste any more time beside the dead heavenly lake serpent. Instead starting to make her way towards the battlefield in the distance that had grown increasingly chaotic as the situation of both the heavenly lake serpents and mountain gnolls worsened.

At the same time Scaly was painfully removing the wooden splinters from her body after just having killed the barely alive heavenly lake serpent, the two powerhouses at either side of the battle clashed violently with each other. Forcing any nearby heavenly lake serpent or mountain gnoll to back away, as even a casual attack of these two was more than capable of killing them.

The battle itself had already been ongoing for close to an hour at this point in time and it was obvious that although both sides were becoming exhausted from the drawn-out battle, the mountain gnolls held a clear upper hand.

Not just because this was their home territory, but also because they were superior in numbers when compared to the heavenly lake serpents who only numbered around a dozen at this point in time.

Of course, it was also because there were constant reinforcements arriving to help out on the side of the mountain gnolls, while there were no new heavenly lake serpents showing up to help out.

Showing that the mountain gnolls were still not going all out, but instead trying to slowly exhaust the heavenly lake serpents without scaring them away by sending out too many powerful mountain gnolls at once.

Clearly, they understood that although they were stronger than the heavenly lake serpents, they weren't strong enough to stop them from leaving if they wanted to leave the place.

Not to mention, the heavenly lake serpents present wasn't all of them and the mountain gnolls also feared a possible ambush in case they tried to chase after them.

Because of all this, the battle continued to draw on without a clear winner. Although, the heavenly lake serpents were slowly losing ground with each passing minute, as they became increasingly exhausted and would soon be far too exhausted to escape.
