Reincarnated as a Lizard

Chapter 219: Deadly Situation

Rolling down the side of the small hill she had ended up crashing into, Scaly found herself unable to stop herself from continuing rolling down the side of the small hill.

Although she had been able to avoid turning into a pancake upon impact with the help of the two blue moon hawks cushioning her fall, the impact had still left her in an almost incapacitated state where she could barely move her limbs.

But that was not the most troublesome thing about her current situation, as she had managed to successfully survive what she had believed might be the end-

[Blue Moon Hawk, lvl 36]

[Blue Moon Hawk, lvl 27]

[Young Blue Moon Hawk, lvl 11]

[Young Blue Moon Hawk…]

Instead, it was the blue moon hawks diving down towards her from above. Chasing after their two companions who had ended up dying while breaking her fall no more than a few seconds ago.

Under normal circumstances, she would have been fine as the blue moon hawks weren't too powerful and she could use the terrain to escape from them, but in her current incapacitated state, she had no way to fight back against the blue moon hawks and could only continue rolling down the side of the small hill as they got closer to her.

What to do… I can use my water magic to hold them off for a bit, but it won't last long and after I run out of mana, I will still end up being overwhelmed.

Trying to come up with a solution to her current predicament as the first blue moon hawk reached her, Scaly didn't hesitate in the slightest. Using the brief moment when she rolled around and came face to face with the blue moon hawk to condense a small water spear and sent it flying towards the approaching blue moon hawk before its claws could sink into her-

Whoosh~

Screech!?

Unfortunately, due to her current state not really allowing much time to be accurate with her water magic, her water spear missed, as the blue moon hawk barely managed to dive to the side before being hit.

In the end, all it ended up doing was by herself a bit of time, while the rest of the blue moon hawks caught up. At least, the one that was now hovering cautiously above her didn't dare go in on its own any longer. Allowing her to roll down the hill for a bit longer without anyone attacking.

Of course, Scaly understood that this wouldn't last forever and she had to find a way to either escape from her current situation or find a way to shake off the blue moon hawks trying to avenge the two she had ended up using as makeshift cushions to break her fall.

The main problem was that the little time she had to inspect her surroundings for anything that might be able to help her get out of her current situation only ended up making her more depressed about her current situation, as the land around the small hill she had landed on was mostly barren. Providing no immediate hiding spots, she might be able to use to avoid the blue moon hawks, while the hill itself was equally barren with nothing more than a few lone trees that were nothing more than obstacles she had to do her best to avoid crashing into. After all, if she crashed into them, she would come to a complete stop and become an easier target for the blue moon hawks closing in on her from above.

Is this really going to be it? Overwhelmed by a bunch of flying chickens?!

Filled with despair as she realized that there really wasn't any way for her to escape from her current situation on her own, Scaly could not help feeling unwilling to end up dying at the hands of these flying blue colored chickens who would normally not stand a chance against her in her normal state-

SCREECH-!

But just as she was about to go all out to take down as many of the blue-colored flying chickens before they could overwhelm her, a loud screeching sound echoed through the surroundings, as the blue moon hawks all came to a stop before a clear look of fear appeared on their faces.

WHOOSH-!

Not a second later, a loud flapping of wings echoed out from above, as Scaly herself was left in a stunned state at what she saw-

Bang~!

Crashing into one of the lone trees as a result. Not that it mattered any longer, as the blue moon hawks that had been about to pounce on her had already begun scattering in all directions trying to escape the monster that had just appeared above, like prey meeting their natural predator, they no longer had the will to chase after Scaly any longer.

Not that Scaly had the time to think about any of this, as she followed the blue moon hawks' example and did her best to hide herself amidst the fallen leaves at the base of the lone tree she had crashed into which was luckily a similar vibrant color to her. Allowing her to blend in with the leaves.

As for the monster that had caused this kind of reaction from Scaly who had been about to fight to the death against the blue moon hawks…

[Shadow Condor, lvl 77]

It was a massive bird with a wingspan of over ten meters that was almost the same level as the terrifying baby kraken she had encountered in the underground world of the fourth floor of the dungeon.

The main difference between the shadow condor and the baby kraken being that the latter was restricted to the water, while this new terror wasn't restricted in a similar way. Making a far more terrifying opponent in Scaly's opinion, as there wasn't a way for her to easily avoid it like she had done with the baby kraken.

The only thing she could do was hide amongst the leaves and hope it didn't spot her-

Screech-!

Ptsh!

Luckily, this did seem to work out, as the terrifying shadow condor focused on the blue moon hawks. Soon enough disappearing while chasing after them.
