I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means

Chapter 832: The Beginning of the Mutation_3

On these trade routes, ground caravans occasionally pass by, connecting the flow of wealth in various places.

Among them, there is a particularly famous trade route named the Crystal Radiance Road.

This road is named for the peculiar glow of crystal stones that sparkle on the walls of the Underground City passage it traverses.

It not only passes through numerous Underground City States but also becomes a safe passage for caravans due to the tacit cooperation and guardianship among these city-states.

The Winged Dragon Commerce team is a frequent traveler along the Crystal Radiance Road.

They wear uniform brown caravan attire, ride specially trained beasts of burden from the Underground City, and proceed slowly down the Crystal Radiance Road, loaded with rare goods from the surface world.

Members of the Winged Dragon Team have their expectations for this journey, calculating what valuable commodities they might trade for from the upcoming Underground City States.

On both sides of the Crystal Radiance Road, there are patrol teams sent by the city-states stationed at intervals, regularly clearing magic beasts near the roads to ensure this lifeline remains safe and untroubled.

Therefore, members of the Winged Dragon Team, who have traveled this road many times, are not nervous but rather relaxed, enjoying their journey through the Underground City.

However, just as the caravan was about to reach the next Underground City State, a faint, indistinct sound suddenly echoed from the passage ahead.

This sound was initially weak and vague, like the prelude to a distant storm.

The caravan guards instantly became alert, having experienced numerous incidents, they quickly organized their personnel, assumed a defensive formation, and kept their eyes fixed on the direction from which the sound was coming.

Despite the maintenance by various city-states, occasionally a few magic beasts would slip through the dark corners along the roadside and attempt to attack the caravan.

But mostly they were easily repelled by the caravan guards.

However, as the sound kept approaching, the guards' expressions turned solemn.

Because the sound coming from ahead quickly became clear and overwhelming, like the sound of ten thousand galloping horses, or the thunderous roar of a battlefield charge.

Such a commotion was not something ordinary magic beasts could produce; it seemed more like some or several terrifying entities were approaching.

Many in the caravan also sensed something amiss; their expressions drastically changed, with some even beginning to prepare to turn and flee.

But at that moment, the rapidly approaching sound had already reached the front of the caravan.

At the end of the passage, a black torrent surged forward -- it was a beast tide composed of countless terrifying Abyssal Demons!

They were massive, with tusks bared, eyes flashing with a bloodthirsty glare, seemingly ready to tear apart any creature in their path.

The guards, seeing this, waved their weapons in a futile attempt to resist the unstoppable torrent.

However, their resistance appeared so small and powerless before the Abyssal Demons, like an insect trying to hold back a wagon.

Each demon was like a giant wave in a storm, instantly shredding the guards' defenses to pieces.

Members of the caravan screamed in terror, they attempted to flee, but it was already too late.

The Abyssal Demons, like a ravenous swarm of ants, immediately engulfed the caravan.

Some members were torn to shreds by the demons' claws, turning into a mire of blood; others were devoured entirely, unable even to scream before their demise...

The entire caravan was completely destroyed within a few short minutes, leaving behind only remnants and a bloody scent lingering in the air.

After the Winged Dragon Commerce caravan was annihilated, the Abyssal Demon Group did not stop in their tracks.

They continued charging down the Crystal Radiance Road, seemingly determined to turn this once safe passage into their hunting ground...
