A black sedan cruised down Yangguan Avenue at a leisurely pace.
Inside, a man in his fifties with a black jacket and graying temples sat back comfortably, one leg crossed over the other. One hand rested on the car door and the other on his knee, his fingers tapping a light rhythm.
The driver, a man in his mid-thirties wearing a well-tailored black suit, was the picture of vigor.
"Tang Ke, come have some fun with me later. It's so boring just staying in the car," the middle-aged man, Director Zhao, said nonchalantly, gazing contentedly out the window.
A touch of glee appeared on the face of the young chauffeur, Tang Ke. He smiled and replied, "Of course, Director. That Qin Corporation was never very large to begin with. After three months of this 'rectification,' they'll probably go bankrupt."
"In Lingjin City, how many companies go bankrupt in a day, and how many new ones spring up?" Director Zhao said indifferently. "The animal world teaches us that it's survival of the fittest; that's the law of nature."
He continued, "If anyone's to blame, it's the Qin Corporation for not knowing its place. Who is Du Dingshan? Offending him is simply courting death."
"What you say makes sense," Tang Ke nodded. "I hear that this Du Dingshan is very well-connected."
"Well-connected? Anyone who can build a pharmaceutical business to that scale is no ordinary person." Director Zhao shook his head and sighed, then added with conviction, "I'm still counting on Du Dingshan to put in a good word for me."
"This time, the promotion is a sure thing."
Director Zhao grinned. "I certainly hope so!"
"By the way, there's five million in the trunk," Director Zhao instructed. "Go buy a house at Brocade Cloud Fragment Land tomorrow. Register it under your sister's name, as before."
"Got it. I'll take care of it tomorrow."
"There should be some money left over," Director Zhao continued. "Take it to help with your household expenses, and enroll your kid in a better tutoring class."
"Thank you, Director!" Tang Ke said, overjoyed and grateful.
Director Zhao waved his hand dismissively. "You're my confidant. There's no need for such words between us."
Having been in this circle for so long, he'd learned not to believe in things like sincerity or loyalty. Only money was king. As long as you paid enough, sincerity and loyalty would naturally follow. That was why he was never stingy with his chauffeur. Only by keeping the man well-fed would he ensure his loyalty.
Just as they were about to make a turn, two glaring high beams shot out from the opposite direction, charging straight for them.
With a collision seeming imminent, Tang Ke wrenched the steering wheel to the left.
SCREECH!
The piercing shriek of tires tore through the street, and the black sedan narrowly missed crashing into the guardrail.
Tang Ke took a deep breath. Only then did he get a clear look at the other vehicle. It was a modified car, topped with a row of xenon lights bright enough to cause temporary blindness.
Director Zhao clenched the handle tightly, glanced out the window, and frowned. "Let's go. Ignore them."
Although furious, Tang Ke knew his priorities. He suppressed his rage and drove on, but the other car immediately blocked their path again. Time after time, his attempts to pass were thwarted.
Just as Tang Ke's anger was about to boil over, a head poked out of the other car's window. "Don't waste your gas. You're not going anywhere with me here. Just sit tight and wait for my Boss to arrive."
It was Yang Hu, of course. He casually lit a cigarette and started smoking with a slow, deliberate air.
Director Zhao lowered his window slightly to stare at Yang Hu, then raised it again. "He doesn't look like patrol," he said flatly. "Someone looking for revenge, perhaps?"
Granting favors meant making enemies. The recent business with the Qin Corporation was a perfect example. Still, he never let it bother him.
After a moment of thought, a cold smile touched Director Zhao's lips. "Tang Ke, get out and warn him. If he dares to block our way again, he'll suffer the consequences!"
"Alright!"
Tang Ke's expression darkened, a savage grin spreading across his face. Being repeatedly cornered had made his anger flare.
He pushed open the car door, strode over to Yang Hu, and said coldly, "You got a death wish, kid? Do you have any idea whose car you're blocking?"
"I know," Yang Hu replied with a faint smile. "Director Zhao Zijian."
Tang Ke burst out laughing. He knows who we are and he's still blocking the road? The audacity!
"If you know what's good for you, get lost! Otherwise, don't blame me for what happens next!" Tang Ke snarled, his expression turning ice-cold.
Yang Hu stared at him and said seriously, "Tell me, are you an idiot?"
Tang Ke was speechless.
"I already said his name, which means I came here specifically for him! And you're telling me to move? You think that's possible?" Yang Hu pressed. "So, I'll ask again: are you an idiot?"
Tang Ke remained silent.
"Get lost," Yang Hu said, blowing a puff of smoke in Tang Ke's face. "Wait for my Boss to get here. We'll deal with you then."
Stunned, Tang Ke waved the smoke from his face and gritted his teeth. "You just wait, kid!"
"Don't worry," Yang Hu called after him. "I'm not going anywhere!"
Tang Ke froze mid-stride, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles turned white. He could feel his teeth grinding together.
So arrogant!
He returned to the car and muttered sinisterly to himself, "Go on, act tough. Just you wait and see how I deal with you!"
"Director," Tang Ke said in a low voice once back in the car. "That guy refuses to move. He must be here for revenge; he said he's waiting for his boss. And what's more, he looks like a trained fighter."
"Call Captain Lin Yang," Director Zhao said, his voice deep with annoyance. "Tell him to get his men over here immediately! I'll give him twenty minutes."
He noticed the street had suddenly become empty of traffic and raised an eyebrow, but he didn't dwell on it. He just opened a newspaper and started to read.
About ten minutes later, Chen Yang arrived.
Yang Hu got out of his car, pointed to the sedan, and handed a file to Chen Yang. "That old bastard, Director Zhao Zijian, is no pushover," he said. "And he's insatiably greedy."
Chen Yang glanced through the file and gestured with his chin. "Let's go pay our respects."
"You got it!" Yang Hu grinned, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.
"Director, they're here," Tang Ke said coldly.
"Lock the doors," Director Zhao replied calmly. "Call Lin Yang again. Tell him to hurry."
Tang Ke did as he was told.
When they reached the car and found the doors locked, Yang Hu simply punched the window.
BANG!
The window exploded, shattering into countless pieces.
Director Zhao was speechless.
So was Tang Ke.
Who in the world are these people?
Without a word, Yang Hu reached through the shattered window, unlocked the door from the inside, and grabbed Director Zhao. He dragged the man out of the car and threw him onto the ground.
Wincing in pain, Director Zhao struggled to his feet. "You have some nerve!" he said in a low voice. "Do you know who I am?"
"Director Zhao," Yang Hu countered with a wicked grin, "do you know who *we* are?"
