After hanging up, Chen Yang called Qin Qiu to tell her that everything was under control and she shouldn't worry.
After a brief explanation, Chen Yang put his phone down, a faint smile touching his lips.
Nowadays, Lingjin City could be described as a gathering of demons and devils. Apart from the so-called pharmaceutical tycoons, the Martial Association certainly wouldn't sit idly by; it was impossible to predict when they might stir up trouble. On top of that, there was the royal Chen Family from Cangyun City. Although they were easily dealt with last time, if they could find him once, they could do it a second and a third time.
Even though they were all lurking in the shadows, Chen Yang, frankly, wasn't worried at all.
He didn't care which faction they belonged to. If they dared to show their faces, he dared to kill them. He would kill as many as came, especially those from the Martial Association. Once the situation in Lingjin City was resolved, Chen Yang would no longer wait passively for them to come knocking. He would personally go to Cangyun City and annihilate the entire Martial Association, crushing it in the palm of his hand.
「Returning to Book Mountain Court.」
Just as Chen Yang got out of his car, a woman slowly approached. She wore a white shirt, blue jeans, and black high heels, all under a black cashmere coat. With her hands in her coat pockets and her hair pinned up high, her fair neck seemed exceptionally long. Her exquisite features were highlighted by a pair of bright, sparkling eyes that were simultaneously as deep as a fathomless pond, impossible to read at a glance.
"To be honest, it took me a lot of effort to track you down," the woman said coolly as she walked toward him. "Although someone artificially wiped the traces away, there were still oversights."
"I investigated the surveillance around the two destroyed Martial Association branches and the funeral for the sixth-generation Elder at Anwu Cemetery. Your figure appeared in all of them without exception. Although you were just a fleeting passerby, your presence every single time is too much of a coincidence to explain away."
The woman stopped two meters from Chen Yang and sized him up before continuing, "After that, I looked into your background. You're the son-in-law of the Qin Family, and you hold a grudge against my Martial Association because of Qin Donglai's death. I suppose the tragedy that befell the Xue Family was your handiwork as well?"
"That would explain why you've provoked my Martial Association time and again. Was it all for your father-in-law's revenge?"
As the woman sized him up, Chen Yang was naturally doing the same.
It had to be said, this was a breathtakingly beautiful woman, with a figure that could only be described as spectacular. However, the cold aura she exuded made her seem like a block of eternal ice.
Chen Yang met her gaze and stated flatly, "At first, it was indeed for my father-in-law. But the more I learned, the more I discovered that your Martial Association is rotten to the core, which really pisses me off."
"Everything that exists has its reason. Perhaps you're just being too obstinate." The woman, of course, was Liu Ruyan, the Chief Disciple of the Martial Association's President. After uncovering Chen Yang's details, she had come here alone and had been waiting for his return. Hearing his words, she offered a slight smile.
Chen Yang smiled back. "Perhaps there's some truth to that, but the problem is, you interfered with my life and pissed me off. That being the case, what reason is there not to eradicate you?"
"Eradicate?" Liu Ruyan blew a stray strand of hair from her forehead, her gaze drifting up to the falling snowflakes. "That's a rather arrogant thing to say."
"Although you hold the rank of a Sixth Grade Military General, which is a supreme and untouchable existence for ordinary people, it's frankly not much in the eyes of my Martial Association. A mere Sixth Grade Military General can be killed just like that. Even if the Martial Department becomes enraged, the repercussions won't fall upon my Martial Association."
"Besides, arranging an accidental death isn't difficult."
Liu Ruyan spoke casually, as if discussing some trivial matter. In truth, it wasn't just Sixth Grade Military Generals. If the Martial Association was truly set on killing someone, they would kill even an Eighth Rank Military General without hesitation. Even if the Martial Department investigated, the forces backing the Martial Association would naturally step in to negotiate with them. For those major powers, the Martial Association was their personal ATM. Who would let someone destroy their ATM?
A smirk tugged at Chen Yang's lips as he nodded earnestly. "It seems I've underestimated the influence of your Martial Association."
"It's not a simple matter of underestimation. The strength of my Martial Association is not something a mere Sixth Grade Military General like you can possibly comprehend," Liu Ruyan said, her gaze returning to Chen Yang. "By the way, my name is Liu Ruyan. The Association President is my master. I came to Lingjin City to kill you."
Her tone was completely flat, as if making small talk, devoid of any murderous intent or anger. The calmer she appeared, the more it proved she was no ordinary woman.
BRRRING.
Suddenly, Chen Yang's phone rang. It was Yang Hu.
"Sorry, I need to take this," Chen Yang said briefly before answering.
"Boss, I found her. She's—" Yang Hu began, getting straight to the point.
Chen Yang cut him off. "I know. She's standing right in front of me."
Yang Hu was silent for a moment.
"By the way, Boss, is that woman ridiculously beautiful?" Yang Hu asked, his curiosity overriding any concern for Chen Yang's safety.
Chen Yang glanced back at Liu Ruyan and answered truthfully, "Yes, she is."
After hanging up, Chen Yang chuckled. "A subordinate of mine saw your photo while investigating you. He was curious if you were as beautiful in person, and I could only be honest."
An unusual glint flickered in Liu Ruyan's eyes. "I'm curious, why aren't you the least bit afraid?"
"Why should I be?" Chen Yang retorted with a smile. "Besides, you're standing right in front of me, fully aware that I've killed so many members of your Martial Association. If you're not afraid, what reason do I have to fear you?"
"Heh..." Liu Ruyan chuckled, and it was as if the frost had thawed to reveal a field of spring blossoms—a breathtakingly beautiful sight. "You're an interesting man. If we didn't have this irreconcilable conflict between us, perhaps I would have befriended you," she said seriously, her smile vanishing as quickly as it had appeared.
Chen Yang dusted off his clothes. "Miss Ruyan, surely you, the Chief Disciple of the Association President, didn't come all this way just to chat?"
"Who would have thought that the man ridiculed by countless people as a freeloader for marrying into the Qin Family is actually a Sixth Grade Military General from the Martial Department, and an exceptionally skilled master at that? If word of this got out, I imagine it would make quite a few jaws drop, wouldn't it?" Liu Ruyan smiled and shook her head before answering his question. "I came today mainly to inform you that you are to make a public statement in Lingjin City's mainstream media and admit your mistakes."
"What mistakes do I have to admit to?" Chen Yang asked, intrigued.
Liu Ruyan ignored him and continued, "I know you're also the person behind the Feiyang Martial Arts School. You'll be at the opening ceremony, won't you?"
"I'll be there too." Liu Ruyan extended a delicate, boneless-looking hand. The swirling snowflakes were drawn to her palm, quickly coalescing into a snowball. "On that day, I will take your head. What do you think?"
With a flick of her right hand, the solid snowball disintegrated into fine powder, scattering in the wind.
VROOOOM!
A Ferrari roared up from the distance and stopped nearby. Qin Qiu got out, looked at Liu Ruyan quizzically, and asked, "Chen Yang, who is this?"
Liu Ruyan stared at Qin Qiu, her lips curling into a slight arc.
Chen Yang took two steps forward, positioning himself between the two women. "A friend," he replied.
"What? Afraid I'll kill her?" Liu Ruyan turned to leave. "If I wanted to kill people, there would already be two corpses in this yard."
"Remember what I said. I'll be waiting for you."
