Urban Carefree Warrior God

Chapter 362: Assassination and Counter-Assassination!

At the Wanjia Mountain intersection.

Dressed in casual clothes and holding a skewer of candied haws, Yang Hu savored his snack as he spoke into a concealed radio. "Brothers, the person we're after this time is Krait, ranked first on the Blood Drop List. This guy is extremely strong, so don't get overconfident!"

"Capture him alive if you can. If it gets tricky, just play cat and mouse with him for a while. Whatever you do, don't force it!"

As he finished speaking, his men at every street corner of Wanjia Mountain nodded in agreement and began moving toward one of the small buildings. They were all elites, handpicked by Yang Hu himself.

Their target, however, was Krait—an experienced and ruthless assassin who was extremely adept at hiding. There was no need to clash with him in his field of expertise. In Yang Hu's own words, since Krait couldn't hurt Chen Yang anyway, they could just treat this as a training exercise.

「Inside the dilapidated building.」

The middle-aged man in the baseball cap, Krait, checked the photo of Chen Yang on his phone after preparing his gear. Then, he pushed open the door. After coming downstairs, he quickly vanished into the crowd.

Not two minutes after his departure, Yang Hu appeared in the room. He touched the teacup on the table and spoke into his radio. "The target just left his residence, no more than five minutes ago! Shi Tou, where's your drone?"

"Currently scanning!"

"Report any developments immediately."

With his orders given, Yang Hu began to search the room. He quickly found a silver combination lockbox. His expression changed the moment he saw its contents, and he immediately transmitted, "Attention everyone, Krait is carrying a gun!"

Staring at an oval-shaped indentation in the box for a moment, Yang Hu added, "And he might also have a grenade!"

"I'll repeat myself: once you've spotted the target, do not engage him directly."

"Understood!"

After receiving a chorus of acknowledgments, Yang Hu immediately relayed the information to Chen Yang. It might not harm Chen Yang, but if it detonated in a crowd, it would be a catastrophe.

Soon, Shi Tou, the drone operator, replied, "Target spotted! He's at your two o'clock, moving away from the building. Black casual wear, black baseball cap, heading for the edge of the Wanjia Mountain area."

In an instant, everyone moved on the intel.

"I see him, five meters away."

Just as the team member spoke, Krait froze for a second. A sly smile crossed his lips as he suddenly quickened his pace. The drone operator continuously updated his position. Within ten minutes, they were already closing in on him from all sides, ready to trap him.

"Hey, you dropped your wallet!" one of the team members shouted, lunging forward and reaching for Krait's shoulder.

But Krait, slippery as an eel, sidestepped into an area with clothing stalls.

WHOOSH.

A stone suddenly soared into the sky, precisely striking the drone hovering dozens of meters overhead.

BANG!

The drone emitted a puff of black smoke and plummeted to the ground.

"Drone down. We've lost visual on the target."

Searching through the crowd, Yang Hu grinned. "Not bad, kid. You've got some skills. Worthy of your former title as the Martial King of the Xingyun Martial District! But do you really think you can escape?"

Krait, who had already changed his clothes, taunted as he walked away confidently, "A bunch of trash trying to catch me? You're delusional!"

Soon, he walked out of the Wanjia Mountain area. Just as he was about to get on his motorcycle, a voice yelled out.

"Hey, Krait!"

The abrupt shout made the hairs on Krait's neck stand on end. He instinctively reached for his gun and whipped his head around. Leaning against a nearby Hummer were several young men, all staring right at him.

Who else could it be but Yang Hu and his team?

Yang Hu grinned. "I bet no one has ever called out your name like this in public, right?" he said. "Watching you jump like that was pretty funny."

Then, Yang Hu revealed the barrel of a gun from under his arm and said with a faint smile, "How about you surrender peacefully?"

"I'm curious, how did you find me?" Krait quickly composed himself. He didn't seem nervous at all, instead asking with genuine interest.

Yang Hu didn't try to hide it. He pointed up at the sky and winked. "You can take down a drone from a few dozen meters up, but what about one from several thousand?"

Krait was speechless. His expression shifted several times before he finally said in a heavy tone, "So, you're from the Martial Department! This means you noticed me the moment I set foot in Lingjin City?"

"What do you think?" Yang Hu shrugged. "Still not going to surrender?"

"Surrender?" Krait laughed. He pulled his hand from his pocket, revealing a grenade. "Why don't we test it?" he retorted. "Let's see what's faster: your trigger finger, or my hand on this pin?"

He actually has a grenade?

"With this many people on the street, how many do you think this will kill?" Krait's lips curled into a smirk. "Ten? Twenty?"

"Fine, you're ruthless!" Yang Hu decisively holstered his gun and made a 'go ahead' gesture to Krait. "You can go."

"Hmph!" Krait snorted disdainfully. "Kid, when I was the top dog in the Martial Department, you were still playing in the mud!"

With that, he abandoned his motorcycle and headed for a nearby pedestrian walkway.

"Tch!" Yang Hu spat fiercely. "What's there to be so smug about? Just wait, I'll get you later! Threatening civilians... you should be ashamed, but instead you're gloating? You're absolute trash!"

"Brother Hu," one of his men asked, "won't this just tip him off and make him run for it?"

Yang Hu gave a wicked smile. "Krait never runs. Besides, he has always been supremely confident in himself."

"Let's wrap it up!"

After that little episode, Krait naturally sensed that this mission was anything but ordinary. But just as Yang Hu had said, instead of being discouraged, his fighting spirit surged.

After confirming his intelligence, at eight o'clock that night, Krait hid in the darkness like a phantom, stealthily approaching Book Mountain Court.

Just as he was about to scale the wall, a voice suddenly reached him.

"Don't bother. I've been waiting here for you for a while."

BUZZ!

Krait's scalp prickled again. His eyes darted around, but he saw nothing.

What the hell is going on?

"Even knowing your opponent is a Sixth Grade Military General, you still dared to come. I have to say, I admire your courage," Chen Yang said, stepping out from the shadows. "My wife and the others are already resting. Let's settle this right here."

Krait was speechless. Before Chen Yang had appeared, he had scanned the area several times without detecting anyone. He began to wonder who the real assassin was.

He was so tense he immediately drew his gun to shoot Chen Yang.

But before he could even pull the trigger, a fist slammed into his torso.

THUMP.

He was sent flying seven or eight meters.

Krait was horrified as he spat out a mouthful of blood. What level of power is this?! He reached for his pocket, only to find it empty.

"Looking for this?" Chen Yang asked coolly, juggling a grenade.

Krait's eyes went wide.

Chen Yang walked up to him, pulled the pin from the grenade, and stuffed it into Krait's mouth. "You have to bite down hard. If that lever loosens even a little, it'll hit the primer, and your head will be gone."

Of course Krait knew this. He frantically reached for his mouth.

SLAP!

Chen Yang slammed his palm down, bending Krait's entire arm at a right angle.

Krait screamed internally but dared not make a sound, afraid he might loosen his jaw on the grenade.

"Let's go. Take me to your employer," Chen Yang said with a smile, wiping the blood from his hand.

Krait nodded, nodding desperately.

In that single moment, his resolve completely crumbled.
