Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 107: Secret Realm (6)

Grey's vision flickered, and for a split second, he felt dizzy. The world around him turned pitch black, and immediately after, a light appeared in his vision. He felt his body being pulled toward that light.

Buzz!

The next moment, Grey was standing on solid ground, still feeling slightly dizzy. However, the dizziness quickly faded as he fired nexus psionic energy into his head, regulating his mind to calm himself down.

This was one of the perks of being an Esper; he had protection against mental attacks, and his psionic energy ensured that his mental state was always at its peak. Of course, that could change if the psionic energy became corrupted. There had been instances where Espers went mad, their abilities wreaking havoc across the city.

Grey blinked a few times as the dizziness faded. When his vision cleared, he found himself surrounded by a dense forest. The trees were tall and thick, their canopies blocking most of the sunlight and leaving the area dim. The air felt cool and slightly damp, carrying the earthy scent of moss and leaves.

Around his feet, vegetation grew wildly, bushes, vines, and roots spreading across the ground. Not far from where he stood, a few glowing mushrooms gave off a faint bluish light. He could sense a dense cosmic energy emanating from them, stronger than anything he had ever felt in the air before.

Through the gaps between the towering trees, he could see the outlines of distant mountains, their peaks shrouded in a thin layer of mist. The forest was silent except for the occasional rustle of leaves.

But that wasn't what caught Grey's attention. Rather, it was the sheer amount of energy within this realm.

"The cosmic energy in this realm is a hundred times denser than what's available on Blue Star," Grey said as he looked around. Then, a curious expression appeared on his face. "But at the same time, I can feel a strange power flowing through the entire realm."

Feeling intrigued, Grey activated his True Origin Insight. Instantly, the world flashed black and white before his vision was painted in dense shades of blue. Alongside it, he noticed traces of deep pink-colored energy scattered throughout the area, even more prominent beneath his feet.

As soon as Grey saw it, he was stunned.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing the flow of "Realmheart Energy," you have gained insight into the Realmheart.]

"Realmheart Energy?" Grey muttered in confusion.

He looked deeper into the energy's flow and recognized its pattern almost immediately.

"The energy… it has the same structure as True Origin Energy and the Abyssal energy," Grey said as he carefully examined it.

If there was one energy he had never sensed before on Blue Star, aside from Alissa's and the corruption field's, it was True Origin Energy. It was the main component of Nexus Energy, the energy of origin, yet he had never encountered it in Blue Star, which made him suspect that Alissa came from a completely different universe where True Origin Energy, not cosmic energy, was the fundamental force.

But now, he had actually found it.

It had different attributes, but its underlying structure was the same similar to the abyssal energy and the True Origin energy.

"But what is a Realmheart?" Grey wondered aloud.

He wanted to use his mind interface to look up related data entries, but then he realized he had lost connection to the Blue Star network. He was in a different space-time, a secret realm, which meant he was currently within another part of the information layer. He could still sense his cognitive anchor but not the signals from that region of the network.

"But there are plenty of Cyborgs here," Grey analyzed. "I should be able to create a local network. Besides, using my hack doesn't require any signal; I can connect to them directly through mind perception."

Everything within his range of mind perception would appear on his mental interface's radar.

Just then, the atmosphere around Grey changed without warning. The air that had been still moments ago suddenly grew heavy.

From the south, an overwhelming aura surged outward. It carried a deep, bone-piercing pressure that felt raw and untamed. The wind stilled instantly, and even the faint sounds of insects and rustling vanished, swallowed by the oppressive silence.

The leaves on the trees trembled faintly, not from the wind, but as if reacting to the energy itself.

"Oh?" Grey tilted his head toward the direction where the aura erupted from.

He surprisingly didn't sense the aura till now and he couldn't find anything with his mind perception either.

Thud! Thud!

The ground shook slightly, the tall trees shivering as the sound of heavy footsteps approached.

Soon, the source of that terrifying aura appeared within Grey's sight.

Grey looked up in surprise when he saw the creature.

It was a white wolf, tall, lean, and majestic. Its fur was pure and soft, faintly glowing under the dim forest light. Every strand shimmered as it moved, reflecting the energy in the air.

Its eyes were a deep, piercing red, flashing with a strange energy that made it hard to look away. The gaze carried a sharp, cold intelligence, as if it could see straight through him.

The wolf stood silently, its breath misting in the cold air, and the pressure around the area only grew heavier. Even without a sound, its presence alone dominated the forest.

Grey estimated the wolf to be at least ten times his height. This behemoth of a creature was definitely not something to be taken lightly.

Beasts, or mutated beasts, were also evolvers. Unlike humans who followed their chosen paths, beasts walked the path of nature. It was the route all unintelligent lifeforms took, they grew stronger by devouring others and absorbing more energy. The people of Blue Star collectively called it the Beast Evolutionary Path.

There were also rumors that beasts at the Third Rank could transform into human form.

He didn't know if that was true, as any information related to it was heavily restricted, not even Eterna had told him anything about it and he couldn't ask her now either, because he had already lost connection to her along with the Blue Star Network.

However, Grey remained unfazed.

What even was there to worry about?

"Mimi," he called softly.

To deal with this thing, he didn't even need to lift a finger. His cat, as small as it appeared, was more than enough.

As soon as he called out to Mimi, the wolf reacted. It gathered strength in its legs and shot toward Grey at breakneck speed, breaking through the sound barrier with ease.

But before it could even reach him, a silver bolt of lightning flashed forward with immense speed—a speed that utterly eclipsed the wolf's.

"Mimi~" the tiny cat meowed happily, striking its paw at the wolf.

Immediately, a terrifying burst of energy exploded from it, sending the wolf flying backward with a massive hole torn through its body.

Thud!

The colossal beast crashed to the ground with a heavy thump.

The small creature, barely the size of the wolf's toenail, had defeated it with a single attack.

"Good work!" Grey said with a laugh.

He stretched out his palm, and Mimi, seeing this, flew over and gave him a tiny high-five with its paw. Then, it perched on his shoulder, lying down comfortably while curiously looking around.

But just then, something shifted. Grey turned toward the north and immediately sensed several auras rapidly closing in on his position.
