Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 170: Ascension Province (11)

While Grey was bombing the Interwire Corporation headquarters, far away in the city lord mansion, every city expert and Lin Fang had slowly woken up.

And once they woke up, all of them were collectively confused.

"What just happened?" One of the city experts of a far away city to the south mumbled. "I only remember seeing a huge attack falling towards me and then falling unconscious."

"Oh great heavens. Have I died?"

"Look around, we are still inside the city lord mansion. Is the battle over?"

"Where is City Lord Dorian and that robot in the sky?"

Then, the head manager of the Evolver's Association of Nova City, Desmond, rushed towards Lin Fang with a worried expression.

"Lin Fang, are you alright?" He asked as he looked at Lin Fang.

Lin Fang on the other hand had a confused expression on his face.

He was speaking to his system.

'Hey system, what happened here?'

[I don't know host. I only see what you see.]

'You really are useless aren't you?' Lin Fang cursed.

[Host, please behave, if you talk bad about the system, then you will be punished]

Lin Fang went silent hearing this.

Then, he turned to Desmond who was looking at him with worry.

"I'm fine, Head Manager." Lin Fang replied calmly.

Then, he looked around him and instantly became confused. "Where is Alissa and Lia?"

Hearing this, Desmond shook his head. "I don't know, I can't find them anywhere. I looked around with my mind perception, there is no sign of them being here."

Lin Fang frowned when he heard this. "Did they get kidnapped?"

Desmond shook his head again. "We can't say for sure. Only City Lord Dorian can give us an answer, but he isn't here anymore and the robot along with the corruption fields have vanished from the province."

"The corruption fields vanished?" Lin Fang was surprised. He had not paid attention to his surroundings till now.

He immediately turned his gaze down below and indeed, there were no more corruption fields left, and there were no High Order members to be found at all.

"Just what happened here...?" Lin Fang frowned.

With no other choice, he took his phone out and dialed Alissa's number. Since they were on the same team, they naturally had each other's number as they were in the same group chat.

His phone rang for a bit, but it did not connect.

[The number you have dialed is currently out of range.]

Seeing this, he frowned.

Could they have actually gotten kidnapped?

Then why was he left behind?

Even Evan was gone.

Then, he dialed Evan's number. It rang for a moment, but it did not connect either.

[The number you have dialed is out of range]

Evan being at a high altitude naturally could not be contacted, as he was flying across the sky in an AV going straight towards the White Spring.

Now there was only one more person to contact, and that was Lia.

He immediately called her and just like before, her phone rang as well but it did not connect. However, the message he received this time was different from before.

[The number you have dialed is currently busy.]

...

Ring. Ring.

Inside Grey's mind interface, a ringing notification appeared, and to his surprise, it was Lia.

He had already activated his second rank citizen account back, as it was needed as the city lord, so Lia could contact him now.

Seeing this, Grey immediately accepted the call.

"Grey." Lia's soft voice came from the other side.

"Did anything happen? Why did you suddenly call?" Grey asked with a frown.

He had only left the mansion just a few minutes ago after all. It made no sense as to why Lia would call him suddenly.

"I forgot about something." Lia's slightly speechless tone came from the other side. "I forgot about the Infernals."

"Oh." Grey had a look of understanding. "Right, I almost forgot about them too."

He was far too absorbed in other things to be paying attention to that. That was the case for Lia as well.

She was too busy talking to Little Hong and had come back to Ashspire City without thinking about her summons, and only after one of her summons called out to her like an abandoned puppy did she remember them.

"What should we do with them Grey? Once summoned, I can't put them back into hell." Lia added.

A thoughtful expression appeared on Grey's face, then he spoke. "For now, summon them back to the mansion. We will put them into the secret realm after I'm back."

"That's possible?" Lia was surprised.

"Of course." Grey replied. "The secret realm is really big, they can do whatever they want inside as long as they don't cause trouble."

"Alright, I'll summon them back."

With that, Lia cut the call. She knew he was very busy. She had already heard the explosion coming from Sector 1 of Ashspire City and knew it was Grey's handiwork.

Then, Lia's phone abruptly rang and the recipient was none other than Lin Fang.

"Oh." Lia was silent for a moment.

She forgot about this guy as well.

Back to Grey, as soon as the call ended, another call came and this time, the call was unknown.

Usually he did not take unknown calls, but Eterna suddenly appeared and spoke. "They are the law enforcers of the previous Three Guards Province."

"Oh." Grey nodded. He immediately picked up the call.

And an aged voice came through. "Hello, this is the City Lord Grey, right?"

"Yes, you are speaking to him right now."

"Greetings, City Lord Grey, my name is Orion. I'm the head captain of the law enforcers of the former Three Guards Province."

"First of all, let me congratulate you on behalf of all the law enforcer officers on becoming the city lord of the Ascension Province. And also deliver our thanks to you. Without you, the corruption fields would've swallowed the three cities as a whole. We, the law enforcement, are grateful to you and ready to serve the Ascension Province as their protector."

"It's nothing." Grey said with a smile. "And I look forward to your performance, Head Captain Orion. I hope you won't disappoint me. Protecting the people of the city should always be your first priority."

"Naturally sir." Orion's voice came from the other side. "We will naturally keep the province safe and sound."

"Good." Grey nodded and spoke. "For now, focus on providing support to the civilians. I will call you sometime later to discuss things about Ashspire City and the province as a whole."

"Understood, City Lord Grey, we will do as you say."

He then cut the call.

With that over, Grey shifted his attention to the inner district of Sector One.

It was now time to pay the Ardent family a visit.
