Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 191: Province Meeting (18)

The family head of the Frostpetal family rose into the air bit by bit with his disfigured hand.

He looked at his own arms and then back at Grey in terror.

He never expected Grey to be so daring.

Was he truly not afraid of the repercussions?

The Frostpetal family head was both enraged and confused at the same time.

"N... Now you have done it for real, City Lord Grey!" he shouted in pain. "You will definitely not be able to save yourself now!"

Hearing this, Grey smiled and waved his hand as he released the pressure from everyone else but the Frostpetal family head.

As soon as he did, some family heads' gazes flickered with a hint of disappointment and disapproval.

They thought he had something else prepared to counter the families when they saw his confident face, but in the end, he resorted to brute force.

"You sure talk big for someone who is going to die soon." Grey smiled with his pearly white teeth showing.

Then, with a cold smile, he continued. "Also, were you not going to put this into the local news? Why have you not made a move yet?"

That was when the representative of the Moltenfang family, its family head, rose from his seat with a sneer.

"You do not have to worry about that, City Lord Grey. This matter, it has already been processed."

He had been secretly recording all of this.

It was only a matter of time before the people under him took the video and published it.

In fact, they were all on standby. They should have already begun uploading it.

"Oh?" Grey smiled.

He was not blind. With his mind perception, nothing could escape his eyes, from the family head's expressions to the fact that the Moltenfang head had been recording everything.

But did Grey care? No.

Why? It was very simple.

Who was he?

He was someone who had access to the information layer. Technology of this era could not outclass his Mind Interface, and now that his mind was connected to the main and local networks of the province, nothing could escape his eyes or escape his control over technology.

In fact, if he wished, he could quite literally turn off the electricity in all four cities with a single thought and completely corrupt or destroy all the crucial data if he wanted to.

He, Grey Lockhart, was as much a threat as Eterna herself.

Someone who could not comprehend what the information layer was simply could not understand his capabilities.

And by now, he had already noticed movement in White Cloud Media, Buzzbeat Media, and Sunstride Media, which were most likely owned by the Sunstride family.

The Sunstride family head stood up from his seat and spoke calmly in a measured tone.

"It is better if you let go of the Frostpetal family head and apologize to him in front of everyone. Do not make this harder for yourself, City Lord Grey."

These three families effectively controlled the media. They were also the major problematic people in the province, while the rest were more tame.

"Oh, look what we have here." Grey beamed with a smile. "The rats have decided to show themselves. Looks like they are not afraid of the cat anymore."

"You should watch your tone, City Lord Grey." The Moltenfang family head spoke in an unfriendly tone. "I do not tolerate being called a rat."

"What else would I call a rat?" Grey asked while shrugging. "You lots are rats, that is that."

As he said that, he utilized telekinesis once more and casually broke the Frostpetal family head's other hand.

"Arghhh!" The man wailed in pain.

Seeing this, both the Sunstride family's and Moltenfang family's faces turned grim.

Was this guy deaf? How could no amount of threatening work on him?

"You lot might believe that controlling the media and the economic state of the province might be enough to threaten me." Grey smiled and waved his hand. Immediately, the two family heads who had stood up to threaten him gritted their teeth as they were crushed heavily to the floor, just like their partner in crime, the Frostpetal family head.

"I am not Dorian." Grey smiled faintly. "Dealing with you lot is far easier than you think. If I truly wanted to, I could eliminate every single one of you, then follow it up by erasing your entire bloodlines."

He tapped his fingers lightly, his voice calm. "After that, the City Lord Mansion simply takes over your businesses, your industries, your wealth. Everything you have built."

Grey's smile widened a fraction. "Tell me, what economy do you think you can cripple? Even without your families, the province will still run just fine."

The family heads immediately shivered in response.

Some of the silent family heads began to speak. "You would go that far...?"

They were terrified.

What was this?

Was this guy threatening to eliminate their entire bloodlines if they did not cooperate with him?

Some of them shuddered in response, and so did the people kneeling below.

Indeed, they had not thought of that at all.

Was the new city lord truly that ruthless, to the point of directly doing something like that?

But the Moltenfang family head was not afraid. He was recording all of this, and it was only a matter of time before the media behind him started their work.

This guy outright threatened them with extreme means. Now not even the AI Eterna could save him.

"But I will not do that." Seeing the reactions from the families, Grey wore a satisfied expression.

He crossed his legs and snapped his fingers.

"Because I simply have no need to do it. Just a few waves of my hand alone are enough to deal with you people."

Light flickered in the center of the round table where the family heads sat, and a holographic screen shot open.

Immediately, several family heads' expressions turned ugly, followed by looks of disbelief.
