Divine Peak
At the moment Albert threw his punch, Wendell swiftly raised his staff. A massive arcane barrier appeared in an instant, enveloping the entire peak to prevent the destructive force of the punch from wreaking havoc on the world below.
Once this was done, Wendell glanced at Leo, who was still standing motionless in place, and shook his head slightly.
Even if Albert poured all his strength into that punch, there was at least a seventy percent chance it would severely injure and nearly kill Leo. And to think Leo could have stood his ground without retreating? Absolutely impossible!
Just as that destructive punch, embodying the God of War's will, was about to strike Leo, Leo casually lifted one of his fingers and lightly pointed forward.
"Break."
As his calm voice fell, the terrifying fist imprint that seemed capable of piercing the starry river dissipated without a sound as it touched Leo's fingertip, vanishing without even a ripple of energy.
Albert's full-force attack was effortlessly neutralized!
At that moment, time seemed to freeze. Albert remained in the midst of his punching motion, but his expression was completely frozen in shock and confusion.
Meanwhile, Wendell stood frozen, holding his coffee cup mid-air. His mind went blank as if he had just witnessed the most absurd illusion.
Leo slowly withdrew his finger, still wearing that nonchalant smile on his face.
Crash!
The coffee cup Wendell had been holding dropped to the ground, shattering into pieces. The hot coffee splashed onto his pant leg, but he was completely oblivious to it.
The sharp sound of the cup shattering broke the eerie silence that had engulfed the peak.
"How... how did you do that?!" Wendell reacted before Albert did, his voice trembling uncontrollably.
In that moment, the usual calm expression on his face vanished, replaced by disbelief. This was far beyond just taking a blow without retreating! This was complete annihilation!
And it was done in a way he couldn't begin to comprehend!
Leo didn't answer; he merely shrugged nonchalantly and turned his gaze toward Albert, who was still frozen in place.
The shock Albert felt in his heart far surpassed Wendell's. He had always believed in the invincible path of the God of War, but in front of that nonchalant finger, it now appeared utterly powerless.
A chaotic aura, unlike anything he had felt before, began to uncontrollably leak out from him.
The once unbreakable God of War belief in his heart began to crack!
"Albert!"
"Steady your mind!"
Wendell noticed his friend's powerful fluctuations and immediately rushed to his side, anxiously urging him.
Albert was snapped back to reality, hurriedly sitting down and attempting to suppress the turbulent, wild energy coursing through him. But the agony and struggle on his face made it clear he was in a perilous state.
Looking at Albert's collapsing energy, Leo made no move to intervene.
It wasn't that he couldn't, but he knew very well it would do him no good. This was a trial Albert had to face on his own. It was an essential lesson on his path as the God of War.
Under the starry sky, there was no such thing as true invincibility!
The so-called invincibility often only existed because one hadn't yet encountered an existence capable of making them realize their own insignificance.
To truly become the God of War, it took more than just powerful strength and exquisite combat skills.
More importantly, it required a heart strong enough to face any challenge, to accept failure calmly, and to grow stronger by learning from it.
A true God of War would be reborn from failure!
If Albert could overcome this trial on his own, both his power and mindset would experience a qualitative leap, taking him into an entirely new realm!
If he couldn't, Leo would simply accept that he had chosen the wrong person.
Leo leisurely walked to the stone table, poured himself another cup of rich, fragrant coffee, and took a sip, nodding in approval.
Hmm! This coffee was indeed brewed well!
Meanwhile, Wendell was full of worry. He continued trying to soothe Albert's chaotic energy with gentle arcane forces, but to little effect.
At this moment, Albert was in a very dangerous state. If not handled properly, not only would he lose his position as God of War, but the backlash could cause his power to spiral out of control and possibly... even result in his fall!
This was an outcome Wendell couldn't accept. After all, Albert was one of his few close friends in this vast Starsea.
"Stop wasting your efforts. You can't help him."
Leo, still calmly sipping his coffee, looked steadily at Albert, who was struggling.
"This path, he can only walk it on his own."
Upon hearing Leo's words, Wendell was momentarily stunned, then his face darkened. He understood this truth all too well.
However, seeing Albert in such a state, with his will almost shattered, Wendell could only sigh deeply.
He glanced at Leo, who was still nonchalantly enjoying his coffee, and thought back to the incredible moment just before.
Leo had effortlessly neutralized the full force of God of War's attack!
Suddenly, Wendell found himself empathizing more with Albert's chaotic state. He had been invincible in the Starsea for countless years, never once defeated.
But in an instant, he was crushed by absolute power!
The shock of falling from the highest peak to the lowest was unimaginable. For Albert's mentality not to collapse would have been strange.
Now, all Wendell could do was hope that Albert's strong will would help him overcome this life-or-death trial.
Thus, Wendell and Leo quietly waited by Albert's side, watching as he fought his inner turmoil on the peak of Divine Peak.
This wait would last for several months, quietly passing by.
Alpha Starfield
During this time, the Alpha Starfield itself had been rife with turmoil and countless events. Among them, the most notable was the escalating conflict between the Clawclash Empire and Mount Divinus.
Both were colossal forces within the Alpha Starfield.
Originally, Mount Divinus had been inferior in overall strength to Clawclash Empire and had been suppressed for years.
However, to the shock of all onlookers, Mount Divinus had recently gained a new Sanctuary Sovereign rank powerhouse!
In the Alpha Starfield, a Sanctuary Sovereign rank was a terrifying existence at the peak of the power pyramid. Each individual was capable of reshaping the entire structure of the starfield.
With the addition of this new Sanctuary Sovereign, Mount Divinus had almost closed the gap with Clawclash Empire in terms of top-tier combat power.
For years, Mount Divinus had been seething under Clawclash Empire's suppression. So, in the second month after the new Sanctuary Sovereign rank breakthrough, Mount Divinus launched a full-scale counterattack!
Clawclash Realm, Alpha Starfield
This was the core stronghold of Clawclash Empire, cultivated for countless years. A towering, pitch-black spire stood in the center of the realm.
The tower flickered with ominous, ghostly light, and notably, this tower seemed to have been rebuilt recently.
At the tower's top
The Empire's high-ranking officials were holding a secret meeting in a gloomy conference room.
"Lord Robin, we've lost seventeen key resource star systems and three crucial trade routes on the outskirts," a Sanctuary Decree rank general reported with his head lowered and a heavy voice.
Since Mount Divinus had launched its counterattack, the Clawclash Empire was caught off guard, suffering consecutive defeats on the front lines, resulting in tremendous losses.
