Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 163: Kaguya

Kaguya looked up at me with dull, lifeless eyes. Her body was weak, coupled with the fact that she hadn't drunk a drop of blood for the past few weeks, caused her to look almost like a dying corpse. She refused to drink a drop of my blood, and when I forced her to feed, she would only throw up.

It would be a difficult task to break the compulsion the leader of the Veylmont clan had on her. They turned her into an emotionless assassin who could only follow orders. In the time that I had her here, I figured out two things:

One: her loyalty and love for the Veylmont clan transcends every other emotion she had.

Two: She hated me with a burning passion.

And finally, and maybe the most important thing: a part of her still cared for her daughter.

Figuring that out, the first thing I did when she looked at me was present her with the box containing Isabella's lungs. She barely reacted with a raised eyebrow, but she reacted nonetheless.

"These belong to Isabella," I explained. "You want to take a guess who did this to her?"

"..."

"It was your young master Allucard. Your precious young master is torturing your daughter. Your own flesh and blood. Doesn't that make you angry?"

She stared at me for a while in silence, and for a second, I thought she wouldn't respond until her dried lips slowly parted to speak.

"The young master is doing what is necessary to correct her," she whispered.

Hearing her speak, I felt satisfied. This meant we could have a conversation at least.

"Oh really?" I said, sounding intrigued. "What is it about her that needs fixing?"

"She's no longer loyal to the clan because of you?!"

Her voice was filled with hate; as lifeless as they were, they were still able to show her hatred for me.

"Tell me something, is Isabella the reason you hate me, or is it because of Victor?"

"I-I… The young master, I must avenge him. And also for Isabella… killing you will undo your compulsion on her."

"Killing me would be the same as killing her. You talk about compulsion, but you seem to be the one compelled to me. Is there any reason behind your unwavering loyalty to that clan? Of course not, because your loyalty is fake. You're only loyal because you don't have a choice."

"You're wrong! My clan is everything?"

"Why?"

"Because… It's…"

Try as she might, she couldn't find a reason for her loyalty. Not a single emotion attached to the clan. Just a program telling her what she should do and how she should act. Even she began to notice this, and that's when I struck. I sank my fangs into her neck and released my venom into her vein.

Of course, it failed, but it did exactly what I intended. Every time I injected my venom into her, I was adding to her already messed-up psyche. My venom was weakening her mind, so that I could add my own program. I was slowly altering her perception of me and changing her reality.

"W-What… What was I saying?" Her eyes wandered around the room in a panic, and her hand reached out trying to find something to ground her. I didn't skip a beat and took hold of her hand, interlocking her fingers with mine.

"You were telling me all the reasons why you're loyal to the Veylmont clan." She stared deep into my eyes, and slowly she began to calm down.

"Yes, I was! The Veylmont clan is the clan I must serve. The clan I must be loyal to. They are the most important."

She sounded like a schoolgirl reciting what her teacher told her. But still, the fact that she didn't react to my touch meant what I was doing was working.

"Are they more important than your own daughter or your own alpha?"

"My alpha? That sounds familiar…"

"Wait, don't tell me you forgot."

"Forgot what?" she asked, her voice sounding desperate. Her mind was such a mess that it made her perfect for this kind of manipulation.

"Your alpha is the most important person to you?"

Her eyes widened.

"My alpha? No! That can't be! The Veylmont clan—"

Before she got the chance to fall back into the same cycle again, I once again sank my fangs into her neck and pumped her full of my venom. This time, her eyes flickered orange, but I still failed in turning her.

Once again, she looked confused about where she was and what she was doing, but I was there to greet her with a warm smile while holding her hand.

"Tell me about your daughter, Kaguya."

She seemed to respond to her name and began speaking again.

"My daughter? What do you want to know?"

"Everything."

She nodded slowly as she gazed into my eyes.

"It all started when the clan's master told me he needed me to produce a new servant."

"You mean he wanted you to bear a child for the sole purpose of being a servant?" I asked.

"Yes, but not any child. He wanted the child to be the product of me and a slave he bought."

Interesting… At first, I only wanted her to relive her old memories, but now she had me intrigued.

"What kind of slave?" I asked.

"The master bought him at the slave market the day before. That slave cost the clan's head a lot of money. It's still by far his most expensive buy."

"Why would he spend so much money on a slave just so you could have a child with him?"

Kaguya went quiet suddenly, as if she was trying to recall.

"Master said it was a regular vampire, but he had developed a unique ability which he wanted inside the clan. Which is why he had me kill him the moment I got pregnant, so that no one else to obtain this ability."

An ability? That is interesting. i wonder what kind and if Isabella possessed such a talent.

Suddenly, a small smile formed on Kaguya's lips. My intentions worked. it seemed she was reliving her memories with her daughter.

"My daughter…"

"You love her very much, don't you?"

Hearing my question, tears filled her eyes, and a single drop rolled down her cheeks. The part of her that was buried underneath centuries of compulsion started to show. She stammered, trying to get the words out. This was the moment she had to choose: it was either the clan or her daughter.

"I…"

Her lips and body trembled as she tried to fight the words out. Like an addict struggling with withdrawal but before she could fall back, I once again offered her my support. I hugged her tightly and stroke the back of her head.

"It's ok. You just need to say it once and it will all be ok. I'm with you remember? Your alpha." Slowly her hand began to wrap around me as she returned my embrace.

"I do! I do love her. So many times... So many times I wanted to tell her how much I cared but I couldn't! MY daughter is the most important thing to me. No one else comes close! my daughter and my alpha!"

The words poured out of her like a dam finally opening and that was when I claimed her.
