Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 214: Fossil

The air seemed to hum as Khalissi spoke.

"That thing is a dragon?!"

"Yes, a small dragon"

I was left even more stumped when she said that thing was small. The skull that remained was bigger than most mansions.

Imagine the rest of its body. I imagine it's wings would be as tall as the tallest skyscrapers.

"I've seen Dragons that are as big as entire cities. A single flap of their wings was enough to cause calamities" Khalissi explained.

"Compared to that thing, I feel like nothing but an ant."

"Remember when I told you that you are nothing but a toddler, a hatchling. You're a newborn just learning how to walk while dealing with whatever complications that comes with your bloodline. It will take time for you to reach an acceptable strength but that's why I made that offer."

"I'm not running away with you" I stopped her before she could begin. "Didn't I warn you not to bring that up again"

"Didn't you say you would tame me, make me obedient. Until then you'll have a hard time controlling me."

"Anyway, back to the dragon. Is it really what is responsible for the mana crystals"

I still found it hard to believe. This creature was dead. If I had to guess, it's been so for centuries. But still, even in this state, it still possessed enough mana to run an entire city for centuries!

"Dragons are something else" Khalissi chuckled. "They're conquerors. They've conquered several worlds, turning them into their empire. Their empire stretches across countless worlds. There was a time they even tried to conquer Hel."

A race of conquerors huh? They sounded like trouble.

"Their homeland is even more harsher than the demonic realm" Khalissi continued "It is dense with mana. So much that they are the only creature that can survive there for long. Its nothing but barren fields. They develop their draconian bloodline for the sole purpose of surviving there. That bloodline basically makes them a master at adapting. They are molded by the environment in which they are brought up, especially during the early years of their life. It is because of this adaption ability why they are able to survive in mana rich environment."

Suddenly she stopped speaking and began staring at me with proud smile on her face. Her eyes seemed to soften as she gazed at me.

"Do you realise you're no longer struggling to breathe here" she said.

She was right. I could breath just fine now and I was no longer in pain. The dense mana now felt like a cool breeze washing over me.

"At higher stages you'll be able to absort mana, breath mana."

Khalissi's eyes sparkled as she spoke as if she was staring at a diamond.

"For now, I don't think there is anything we can do about this fossil. Just touching it posses a huge risk" she said.

"Yes, we won't be able to steal all the mana supply of this city. But this might turn out to be the best option"

Khalissi looked at me curiously.

"How so?"

"The mana crystals they have in reserve won't be able to power the entire city. And if given the choice between them and the rest of the population, the vampires and the witches will most likely choose themselves"

Khalissi nodded along seemingly understanding what I was trying to say.

"You're saying they'll use the remaining mana crystals to power their section of the city while the rest of the city will be left to suffer"

I nodded.

"Naturally a rift will form between the two. That's where the Kitsune comes in. I will use her influence to incite a civil war against vampires and witches"

The vampires and the witches failed to realise that they didn't have the love and loyalty of the people. The people only obeyed them out of fear of their power, and the small comfort which was given to them.

But once that comfort ends and their fear is replaced with hate then things will start to get interesting from there on.

"We should leave" I said to Khalissi already turning away.

I felt an unsettling bloodlust heading my way. Could be a witch or maybe a vampire. Either way, I didn't want to find out.

Not wasting another second, Khalissi and I exited the laboratory, walking through the mess of corpses we created.

Immediately as we exited the build we happened upon a sight that caused us to stop in our tracks.

"What are you doing here?" Khalissi asked with a frown on her face. I could see a vein beginning to form on her beautiful forehead.

In front of us, was one of Khalissi's bloodmoth. From its scent I could tell it was the one I petted before.

When the creature saw us it began zipping across the air doing backflips and all sorts of tricks. It looked like a puppy excited to see its owner after a long day.

"TWEE!"

"Stop trying to impress him and go back to where you belong" Khalissi snapped, looking even more agitated.

She looked like a mother scolding her unruly child.

"We should hurry back" I interrupted. "Something is coming."

Immediately as I spoke, the bloodmoth latched itself onto my back and with just a few beats of its wings we were already soaring in the sky.

Khalissi watched us from the ground with her mouth hung open.

"This is the first time one has ever disobeyed me" she mumbled to herself.

She watched her Moth carried me off with a confused look on her face and then a small smile appeared on her face.

She flapped her wings and soon she was soaring across the sky beside us.

"TWEE!"

The bloodmoth sang happily as we soared above the clouds. The warm breeze brushed against my face as I was captivated by how magnificent the city looked from above.

We weren't the only creatures up here. I spotted a few harpies out in the distance. Their bodies were covered in gray feathers but their wings were black.

Their breasts laid bare and their feet was similar to those of a bird.

Strangely I began spotting more of them as if they had spawned out of nowhere.

"What is happening?"

More continued to pop up until were completely surrounded.
