I Only Marry Widows

Chapter 43: You Don't Dare to Strike I'll Kill Him

Celestial Law-Controlling Sect, Bright Moon Hall.

"News came from the Dharma Form Hall that even that useless Wushuang suddenly changed his character and wants to start practicing martial arts."

The person speaking was a middle-aged Daoist, dressed in a green Taoist robe, with a beard under his chin and a Taoist crown on his head. His face displayed an imposing demeanor; he was Zhao Zhijing, one of the five First Seat Elders of Bright Moon Hall.

Bright Moon Hall is the place where the Tao Vein of the Sect is inherited, and the Hall Master represents the head of the Tao Vein. Along with the Martial Vein's Mountain and River Hall Master, they are the two most powerful figures under the Sect Leader.

The Hall Master's Taoist Name is Shouren and is commonly called Li Jingyao. She is a female Daoist, who twenty years ago, when she took over the position of Hall Master, suppressed many Elders of the Tao Vein with her exquisite Taoist skill, and now her cultivation is unfathomable.

However, ever since Li Jingyao took in the new prodigy of the Sect, Chu Tiange, as her chosen disciple ten years ago, she has disregarded worldly affairs and is mostly in seclusion, with the affairs of the Tao Vein being managed by the palace Elders and Chu Tiange.

Today, besides Chu Changge, the Tao Vein is led by the five First Seat Elders: Zhang, Qi, Chu, Zhao, and Han, who each handle different affairs of the Tao Vein.

At this moment, it was rare for the five First Seat Elders to gather together, but the reason was merely because Wushuang started practicing martial arts.

Among the five Elders, Qi Zhiyuan was the oldest, with white eyebrows and hair. Yet, his face was still rosy with few wrinkles.

Having cultivated at Bright Moon Temple to the profound level where neither wind nor moon touches the body, his mind was as eternal as the ancient bright moon.

Now, upon hearing the news, he shook his head slightly: "That child Wushuang's nature is too weak, even if he repents now and starts practicing martial arts, he's unlikely to achieve much. Why make such a fuss over it?"

Chu Zhihe, nearing sixty, had excellent Inner Power Cultivation, and her skin was lustrous and smooth like jade, resembling a woman in her thirties. She wore a black Taoist robe and carried an Ancient Sword on her back, with the sword tassel trailing over her shoulder, truly possessing a unique charm.

She was Chu Tiange's mother and also Tao Companion to another First Seat, Zhang Zhijing. Chu Tiange took his mother's surname at birth as it was discovered he possessed an Immortal Bone.

Zhang Zhijing and Chu Zhihe concealed this news and expended numerous Heavenly and Earthly Treasures to lay a solid foundation for their son, only allowing him to show a portion of his talents at the age of ten, successfully apprenticing at the Bright Moon Hall under the Hall Master as her closed-door disciple.

Though Chu Zhihe was a woman, her temperament was the most fiery, and she couldn't help but let out a cold laugh, "Even if that lewd and shameless character like Wushuang trains, he'll never cultivate the True Intent of the Martial Path in this life. Why overthink it?"

"Moreover, I've already heard that the reason that good-for-nothing suddenly changed his mind to practice martial arts is because the Black Wind Ancestor suddenly came out of seclusion and gave him a slap in the face, disregarding Yi Mingshu's reputation."

"After Wushuang was humiliated, he took men and magical treasures to recover his reputation but was nearly killed, with a Celestial Human and two Half-Step Celestial Humans from the Martial Vein all perishing, while he fled back like a stray dog."

"With his incapable and furious personality, it's merely because his pride was trampled that he's thinking of practicing martial arts for revenge. Once he discovers the difficulty involved in a few days, he'll naturally give up."

"In my opinion, we don't need to pay him any mind at all."

Meanwhile, Zhang Zhijing sat beside his wife without saying a word. He had a gentle personality, content with going with the flow, possibly possessing a Taoist disposition like drifting clouds and flowing water, unattached and selfless.

The fact that he and Chu Zhihe could become Tao Companions back then was due to a chance encounter and an accident, which then led to Chu Zhihe becoming pregnant, which allowed them to come together.

However, although the two had the title of Tao Companions, in practice, they didn't maintain the relationship. They lived separately for many years, each focused on cultivation, not paying much attention to even their own son.

Chu Zhihe had virtually raised her son by herself, carrying considerable resentment towards Zhang, and she simply allowed her son to adopt her surname Chu. The grievances and complexities between them have long since become indistinct.

The last of the First Seat Elders, Han Zhishen, shook his head and said, "We mustn't be careless. Yi Mingshu is a profoundly scheming person whose methods often defy expectation. I still can't understand his true depth."

"I even suspect that his cultivation has reached the Celestial Human Seventh Layer or higher; otherwise, he couldn't possibly exert such pressure on me."

"If Wushuang is willing to practice, his methods could surely allow his cultivation to advance rapidly in a short time."

"Wushuang's mind may be weak, but it's not as if there are no treasures or secret divine skills to cleanse the mind. With proper methods, after a few experiences, he could gradually change."

"Yi Mingshu went so far as to sacrifice a Celestial Human and two Half-Step Celestial Humans from the Martial Vein this time, yet he is indifferent."

"For him to make such a significant move, it can't be just for his son to waste time, there must be deeper long-term plans."

The first to speak, Zhao Zhijing, also solemnly said, "Indeed, we must not underestimate this matter."

"Although Tiange is indeed a prodigious talent, Yi Family has controlled the Sect for too long; they will not easily let go of the Sect Leader's position."

"I'm very concerned that Wushuang might become an obstacle for Tiange. Although there's currently no sign of this, it can't be disregarded."

Upon hearing this, Chu Zhihe squinted her beautiful eyes and coldly said, "If that's the case, then if an accident occurs, get rid of him."

Zhang Zhijing immediately shook his head and said, "Absolutely not, such actions would definitely escalate the conflict between the two veins. Don't dream that Yi Mingshu won't find out; often, many things don't require evidence."
