Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 195: Underground Shelter No. 88 (Part 5)

Wu Chang raised an eyebrow and listened to the bartender's implications that the Underground Shelter Number 88 has always been trading with players who enter here.

He took a sip of hot milk and said leisurely:

"There's no rush to trade. It's my first time here, and I'm not familiar with the rules. Just like earlier, I accidentally caused a conflict with an innocent passerby. I'm a pacifist, and that's not good, so I want to understand the rules here first."

"If possible, I would like a catalog of tradable goods and some of the taboos here."

The bartender maintained a smile and said, "Mr. Peace, just like the other planes you've been to, information here also comes at a price."

Wu Chang said flatly, "Put it on my tab for now."

The bartender smiled and said, "Our business is small, and we don't allow tabs."

Wu Chang's gaze turned sinister, and he clenched his fist, "Do you not trust me? Do you think Mr. Peace would cheat you of a few bits of information money? You're insulting me!"

The bartender began to sweat on his forehead. He glanced at Wu Chang's fist, which was the size of a sandbag, and swallowed the words of refusal he was about to say.

"You seem to understand the rules here well."

"Alright, I'll put it on your tab for now. As for the product list, I need to contact my clients to compile it, so I can't give it to you right now. As for the taboos here, I can let you know right now."

"The taboos here are simple, just two points. First, as an outsider, don't imitate the locals in behavior or lifestyle. We are different."

"Secondly, don't provoke He Yun."

Wu Chang caught the key point and showed interest in his eyes, asking, "Who is He Yun?"

The bartender motioned with his lips, indicating Wu Chang to look in the corner.

In the corner of the bar sat a young woman with short hair. She wore a tank top, exposing her tanned skin and a well-toned, beautiful body.

She maintained low body fat all over, but let fat accumulate in the right places, resembling Cammy from Street Fighter.

She was tuning a mecha on the table with a focused expression. Feeling Wu Chang's gaze, the short-haired woman named He Yun looked up and exchanged a glance with him through the air.

Strong, fierce, impactful.

This was Wu Chang's first impression of He Yun.

While Wu Chang and the bartender were talking, the fight in the cage had already reached its conclusion.

The glasses-wearing man defeated the Mediterranean with no suspense, but his actions were very restrained. He landed just one punch on the Mediterranean's chin, ensuring his opponent would faint, and did not continue to attack or deal a finishing blow.

"Our outsider—Scalpel contestant, has defeated the 15-5 oil barrel, securing another victory tonight!"

"Now, the record of the Scalpel contestant stands at a terrifying 9-0! Will the shattered bottle stage be conquered by this unfamiliar outsider tonight? Let's see who can stop him."

At this point, the host sighed and said, "This is bad."

Wu Chang asked, "What's bad?"

"The guy stronger than the oil barrel, you just tossed him out like trash. If this outsider continues to challenge, he'd only have He Yun to face next," the bartender said helplessly.

Wu Chang finished his hot milk and said, "I don't think He Yun would lose."

"Neither do I," the bartender said, "I meant it's bad for that outsider."

Just as the bartender said, the host found that after communicating around, there were no other contestants to go up, and the Scalpel was looking like he wanted to continue challenging, sticking to the stage and not coming down.

With no other choice, the host approached He Yun in the corner.

After exchanging a few words, He Yun put on the mecha she had just finished tuning and stepped into the ring.

Beep!

Amidst the cheers of the crowd as the cage around the stage locked, the highlight of the evening was fired up.

The host was about to introduce the contestants for the spectators to place their bets when, unexpectedly, the Scalpel, who had remained humble and courteous all night, suddenly showed his fangs.

With a wave of his hands, the Scalpel suddenly had two gigantic samurai swords over two meters long.

The match on stage, in essence, was a boxing match. Every contestant in the Underground Shelter had been thoroughly vetted to ensure all weapon systems on their mecha were dismantled.

But what the Scalpel did was a severe violation.

Just as the referee was about to stop the match, the Scalpel waved his sword and instantly cut the referee, who stepped forward, in half, then, with a murderous aura, charged at He Yun with his sword.

It was clear his goal wasn't the match, but murder.

And his assassination target from the beginning was He Yun!
