Near the Abyssal Blood Pool, a wall had already been established.
Su Ziyu slightly expanded the number of Ant Race and Holy Beetles, then left the Enchanting Demon lieutenant in the base camp, asking her to lead people to construct some buildings.
Demons are very easy to sustain.
They don't need residences, and they barely need food. They seem to be empowered just by being near the Abyssal Blood Pool and can absorb some energy; they can even survive by eating dirt. The environment where demons live is extremely harsh, food is scarce, yet their numbers are always large, existing against the common sense of ecological chains.
However, middle to high-tier demons also have their own needs.
For example, Frenzy Demons need a training ground where they can battle other demons daily to vent their violent tendencies. Snake Demons need weapons and residences; they are more particular than other demons. Also, Snake Demons are among the few demons interested in jewelry.
As for what Enchanting Demons need, well, there's no need to elaborate, for now, there's only one Enchanting Demon.
Low-tier demons' needs don't have to be considered.
They can simply circle out an area as a military camp and stay obediently within. There's no need to worry about them rebelling or causing trouble.
The most Sharp Claw Demons would do is occasionally bully the little demons.
Frenzy Demons will only fight strong opponents; without anything to do, they'll fight amongst themselves and recover quickly after a brief rest.
Kobolds are currently the main force for mining and forging.
There are now over twenty Kobolds in the territory. It's not that Su Ziyu doesn't want to expand further; it's because those Kobolds have become vigilant.
That afternoon.
Su Ziyu led his demon army to approach the Witch Demon's territory. Along the way, he saw those Wind Elements again, and after some thought, chose not to engage them. Dealing with flying enemies is too troublesome.
Soon.
A towering Soul Summoning Tower made of countless white bones appeared before him.
Snap, snap.
Seemingly sensing the arrival of demons, thousands of undead began to awaken gradually. Most were skeletons, seemingly set to awaken automatically when living beings approached.
"Attack!" Su Ziyu waved his hand.
The demons swarmed forward immediately. To deal with these undead, they had to be disassembled completely. Because they were too vast in number, two or three hundred demons rushed in without making a splash, and instead, they were surrounded by the countless undead.
—"Flame Domain!"
Su Ziyu quickly activated his Flame Domain and saw the surrounding skeletons gradually collapse under the flames' shroud.
"Gained 1 point of Power of Slaughter."
"Gained 1 point of Soul Value."
"Gained 5 points of Power of Slaughter."
"Gained 12 points of Power of Slaughter."
"Gained 1 point of Soul Value."
A continuous stream of data notifications jumped out. Su Ziyu, with his demon army, barely started engaging with the undead and already accumulated a total of 50 Soul Value points.
However, the Power of Slaughter from the undead was meager, averaging less than 10 points per skeleton.
Many little demons perished.
Among these skeletons, some wielded weapons, and there were some Skeleton Archers too. Both little demons and Sharp Claw Demons perished quickly, but middle-tier demons suffered no casualties. The two Snake Demons were like killing machines, leaving a trail of crushed bones in their wake. Their Multi-Attack and Multi-Weapon Combat abilities were exceptionally effective against such swarm tactics.
Of course, Su Ziyu's efficiency in eliminating foes was still the highest.
He merely needed to wander around with the power of his Flame Domain to wipe out numerous skeletons, then follow up with a Fireball or Flaming Storm to eliminate hundreds in the blink of an eye.
At the same time.
While Su Ziyu led his demon army to attack the Land of Burial, a ghost swiftly flew into a Skeleton Fortress standing tall in the mountains.
"Master!"
"Demons have invaded our land." The ghost flew in flustered.
Inside a massive laboratory.
Bottles and jars were scattered across the table, filled with various eerie flesh tissues. At the forefront was a Giant Dragon skeleton about sixteen meters in length, with a wingspan of roughly twelve meters. A Witch Demon in a ragged gray robe was fiddling with something and, upon hearing the report, lifted his head and adjusted his monocle, saying, "Demons?"
This Witch Demon appeared scholarly, speaking in a methodical, slow manner.
"Oh, right," the Witch Demon touched his skull and suddenly remembered, "Bird mentioned last time that a Demon Lord had appeared nearby."
"Are they attacking? How many?"
Once demons have a lord, they tend to expand their territory. It seemed the Witch Demon had anticipated this.
"Around two or three hundred?" The ghost thought for a moment and whispered, "About half of them have already died, I suppose. They're still at the Land of Burial, I'm worried they might destroy the Soul Summoning Tower."
The Witch Demon's jawbone seemed to move, as if smiling, and shook his head, saying, "Let me know when they reach the Skeleton Fortress."
"This experiment is more important for me."
Numbers like two or three hundred barely mattered to the undead.
Rog was a Witch Demon with aspirations. Unlike other Witch Demons who idled away in tombs, he had ideals too, which was to advance into a powerful Demigod Lich.
But the power of Divinity was far too mysterious.
He couldn't acquire Divinity for now, nor could he defeat those associated with the Divine Spirit. So he chose to target transforming himself into a Dragon Lich, a feat with successful precedents in the past.
Rog had just obtained the Giant Dragon soul, so he wasn't too keen to bother with those demons right now.
He built a Soul Summoning Tower in the Land of Burial; the tower would automatically gather Power of the Soul scattered in the wilderness and awaken the undead there when enemies invaded. Even with such minimal demon force, it was unlikely they could break through his first defense, not something he needed to rush to deal with.
"Yes." The ghost calmed down considerably and soon drifted away.
On the other side.
Su Ziyu led his demon army to take down thousands of undead. Considering the Witch Demon remained absent and too many were sacrificed, to avoid casualties among the main demon force, he straightforwardly led the army to charge back out of the Skull Sea.
Once out of the Land of Burial, the undead didn't pursue.
Su Ziyu noticed some of the undead they had just defeated were reviving, possibly resurrected by the Soul Summoning Tower.
"Hmm?"
"Could this be a place to farm monsters?" Su Ziyu's expression showed a hint of excitement.
Many little demons died.
Numerous Sharp Claw Demons perished.
No Frenzy Demons died, but almost all were injured; other demons bore slight injuries too, given the sheer number of enemies.
It's best to retreat for now and recuperate.
Su Ziyu's harvest today was immense, with close to twenty thousand points of Power of Slaughter and 1200 Soul Value. He could go back to the base and spawn another wave of troops.
Skeleton Fortress.
The ghost drifted in again, cautiously saying, "Master! The demons seem to have retreated!"
"Couldn't even get past the Land of Burial?" The Witch Demon in front lifted his head, disinterest evident, saying, "Got it. Don't bother me again if they appear in the future."
"I've set up a Withering Array outside the Skeleton Fortress; if the demons get close, activate it."
"You may leave."
