Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 112: Champion Duel

As Mudalin's pre-battle mobilization ended, the dwarves, brimming with morale, roared and shouted as they peered through the gaps in their shields at the overwhelming Demon Legion approaching from the front.

The wave of red creatures surged into the gorge like blood, their blood-red battle banners sewn from human skin obscuring the dim sky, casting an apocalyptic scene across the battlefield.

The first to charge forward were undoubtedly those Chaos Warhounds, bearing sinister fangs and claws, each more than one and a half meters in length, leaping even higher than the dwarves.

They were agile and vicious by nature, and once they bit into the target's thigh, they wouldn't relent without tearing off a large, bloody chunk of flesh.

As they roared and howled, charging, a thunderous sound erupted across the battlefield.

In an instant, a barrage of projectiles shot out from behind the dwarf formation, tearing through countless Chaos Warhounds, their flesh shredded by the terrifying firepower. Their bodies were largely blown apart by the large-caliber firearms, the lead projectiles ripping the creatures from head to tail, leaving terrifying wounds in their wake.

A single volley from the Thunder Gunners caused the dense wave of monsters to lose dozens of warhounds.

The dwarves on the frontline immediately raised their war axes, cheering with excitement: "Good shot! Keep smashing those monsters hard!"

"Again! Again!"

The giant thunderous noise responded to their request, the dwarf formation's rear shrouded in gunpowder smoke, as hundreds of Thunder Guns fired in succession, the massive explosions spreading lead barrage like hail and arrows like rain, causing massive losses to the monsters.

Many Chaos Warhounds didn't even get the chance to get close to the dwarven phalanx before being shot dead. The more cowardly or injured monsters even turned and fled, scattering in collapse.

The power of the dwarves' firearms truly astonished the human Knights, no wonder it's the unique Extraordinary Power of the dwarf race.

But in this dark world rampant with monsters, one can never rely solely on ranged means to stop the wave of creatures.

Though many Chaos Warhounds were scared into fleeing, the Blood and Flesh Hounds within the red wave remained unaffected.

These monsters were no longer mortal flesh; they were all Demons under Khorne's command, far larger than the fiercest warhounds in the mortal world, larger than a bull, able to carry the Bloodsuckers wielding two-handed giant swords.

However, few Bloodsuckers were vicious and strong enough to tame these giant hounds; every Bloodsucker invading a Blood and Flesh Hound's nest in the Chaos Wasteland would be torn apart by these massive beasts.

Even an enormous Blood God Beast encountering these hounds would engage in fierce combat, akin to a battle of giants where the loser becomes a meal for the victor.

These Blood and Flesh Hounds are demons most detested by Mages, Wizards, and Giant Dragons. Apart from their sturdy limbs granting them high speed, their backs are adorned with massive steel and copper collars, seemingly grown in place. This is the Blood God's favor, which not only defends against physical harm but also resists various spells and mental attacks from foes.

These Blood and Flesh Hounds fear no powerful Mages, capable of tearing them apart before they finish casting spells.

Now facing the dwarves, both sides possess Absolute Demon Resistance, making them naturally matched foes. The bullets from firearms rebounded off their brass collars.

The towering hounds over a meter high roared as they charged into the dwarven formation, immediately stopped by the Shield Wall. The Mountain Shield Array displayed its unparalleled effectiveness, as even monster bodies couldn't directly shake the steel shield array composed of dozens of dwarves.

The dwarven formation stayed unyielding, while the monster akin to a steel ox was left dizzy from impact, many piling up like a small mountain before the Mountain Shield Array. The monsters behind leapt from the piled mini-mountain ahead, crashing into the dwarven Shield Wall, starting fierce combat with the dwarves wielding giant axes.

Both sides were incredibly tenacious and ferocious, the battle akin to a massive clash of iron anvils.

The sound of monster claws and steel teeth scraping against the dwarves' plate armor was ear-piercing, while the dwarves' war axes hacking at the monsters' spines sounded as though they were striking reinforced steel bones.

Black and red armies clashed brutally on the ominous, gray-leaden battlefield of the Gray Mountain Range.

The dwarves' firearms continued firing non-stop, the thunderous lead bullets repeatedly striking the monsters' bodies, blood spraying across the battlefield.

Mudalin, the powerful Dwarf Commander, was the center of focus on the battlefield. As a dwarven general, by power and right, commanded two Shield-Bearers. This greatly enhanced the general's combat power, defense, and resilience.

This was a unique display of dwarven racial abilities; to boost the combat power of a dwarven hero, a general or lord might fight standing on a shield.

Ordinary generals were carried by two loyal and strong servants, who possessed the unique ability [Watch Out, Sir!], allowing them to share vision with their master through the shield, ensuring the dwarven general was never ambushed.

At the same time, they could individually utilize martial arts, power, and attack attributes alongside the shield-borne general.

This turned Mudalin, standing atop the shield, into a terrifying killing machine, mowing down monsters effortlessly with his war axe that ordinary dwarves had to fight intensely to slay, cutting down a Blood and Flesh Hound with every swing.
