The Empire's Knights have dealt with two-legged flying dragons quite often, yet even the most experienced among them have never seen such a gigantic two-legged flying dragon.
Sandarion's enormous wings spread wide, hanging high under the blood moon, casting a vast shadow over the sky, its majestic presence akin to that of a Giant Dragon.
Not only does it possess distinctive dragon-like features, its imposing physique and scaled wings are equally impressive as a Giant Dragon's. More terrifying is its massive tail, as long as its body, adorned with snake-like reversed spikes containing the deadliest poison.
Even a Champion Knight hit by these venomous spikes would be instantly paralyzed, their entire body going numb.
In its terrifying roar, many Free People clutched their ears in pain, unable to adapt, as Sandarion suddenly flapped its wings and cruelly shouted, "Humans, your doom has arrived! Minions, attack! Kill them all!"
With its roar, under the blood moon's illumination, the Monster Legion surged like a tide from the Dark Shadow, their sheer scale seemingly poised to devour the entire world.
Kobolds and Gnolls howled fiercely, Forest Goblins raised their short lances with excitement, Giants roared to the heavens, and the shrieks of two-legged flying dragons and Harpies intertwined into a terrifying symphony of death.
The immense pressure weighed like a mountain on the hearts of the human, dwarf, and half-elf alliance.
Gazing at the endless monster legion, everyone felt the air entering their lungs was cold and grey; the monsters were so many, it seemed they had completely engulfed the sky, the earth, the forest, and the plains.
The human Knights were the first to recover from the shock, with Commander Oerstein shouting, "Archer Corps, get up on the walls and high points, prepare to shoot! Infantry Corps, hold the line, you must block the monster tide, don't panic!"
The Harpies' surprise attack was effective; at the cost of only hundreds of Harpies' deaths, they successfully disrupted the deployment of a large number of troops, especially the archers and Thundering Musketeers, who took a lot of time shooting in all directions and failed to make it onto the walls in time.
This surprise attack was immensely beneficial for the monsters. At the mere cost of hundreds of Harpies' lives, it allowed countless infantry to reach the human defensive lines unscathed.
If the human and dwarf ranged forces had been fully shooting from the walls, at least several squadrons of monsters would have been shot down and fled.
Though these monsters are cruel and terrifying, they are not devoid of emotions. They too feel fear and dread. As masses of them rushed forward, being shot down batch by batch, it would undoubtedly cause many monsters to be struck with terror and flee in fear.
Being able to charge swiftly and attack the enemy unprepared always has excellent tactical effectiveness. Though this may not be a strategy thought of by the Two-legged Flying Dragons' foolish minds, more likely they just wanted to rush blindly, yet by sheer chance, it created a very favorable situation for them.
Dorglin ran to Su Li's side, gasping, "Lord, we can't let the monsters reach the front of the defense line so quickly; we must delay them to buy time for the firearms soldiers' deployment!"
In this defensive fortress, the dwarves have three firearms squadrons, one of which is a Thundering Musketeer squadron organized by the local dwarf community, another brought by the dwarves, and the last a Dwarf Ranger squadron.
Having these dwarves take to the walls, with firepower fully opened, can kill a large number of monsters.
These iron-armored dwarves move very slowly, and buying time for them is not an easy task.
Su Li frowned and said, "Outside the perimeter wall are three trenches and two deerstones; only one road leads out of the camp gate, but it's already blocked by monsters. The number of knights we can send out is very limited, I'm afraid we won't be able to hold back the monsters for long."
The best solution right now would be to have a squad of death warriors, extremely powerful ones, to plunge into the monster tide and disrupt their offensive momentum with only a small number.
Apart from this method, Su Li could only use the Phoenix Wing Talisman, using a fierce wind to halt the monsters' advance.
But this was one of Su Li's biggest cards, and he didn't want to throw it out at the start of the battle, otherwise, facing the monster's strategic treasures, he would lose the greatest countermeasure.
He didn't even want to use it in this battle, because once the Phoenix Wing Talisman is activated, it would lose effect for the next month.
Having used this Holy Relic of Glory on the Two-legged Flying Dragon King, how would he ensure victory against the Green Dragon main force army next?
Fortunately, Dorglin had already thought of a solution and immediately said to Su Li, "We can deploy a powerful Divine Chosen Warrior to descend directly into the heart of the enemy's dense formation, slicing through the monsters with its mighty power and making them afraid to advance."
"Of course, this Divine Chosen Warrior isn't Hilude, but our dwarf Heroic Spirit, the Redbeard Clan Ancestor, Ankor Redbeard."
Su Li's eyes lit up at once, taking a bronze horn richly decorated in dwarf style from Hilude beside him, and asked, "Do you mean this Thunder Horn?"
This Thunder Horn is a Rare Level item, usually placed on a shelf in the grand hall of Heisen Castle, embellishing its splendor. Every Knight, merchant, and dwarf who visits Heisen Castle is full of praise for seeing such a magnificent, powerful Rare Level treasure.
