Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 163: The Addition of a New Divine Chosen Apostle

After Su Li finished visiting the Squier Gallows, he headed south along the Wallflower District, inspecting the wealthier areas of the Territory, including detached villas in the Wallflower District, the Hesse Territory Opera House, the West Merchant Association headquarters, and the Emerald Baths, among others.

The purification journey through the [Squier Execution Ground] made Su Li quickly ascertain one thing: this world has a distinct social hierarchy.

Nobles are nobles, the rich are the rich, commoners are commoners, and slaves remain slaves forever.

All these classes are distinct and separate, with no possibility of vague boundaries or mixing between them.

If a poorly dressed poor person were to enter a wealthy area, it wouldn't be met with mere curious glances as in the Eastern world. Instead, it would immediately trigger the guards' vigilance, who, wielding long lances, swords, and sabers, would surround him. At the least, he would receive a beating, followed by a warning and then thrown out; at worst, he would be imprisoned and thrown into the City Guard Army's dungeon.

What is this talk of princes and generals being born from peasants? A beggar becoming the Emperor, a commoner humiliated beneath someone else becoming a Commander-in-Chief. That's impossible! Even if a commoner did manage to become wealthy through sheer effort and move up in class, the first thing he would do is immediately move out of his original community to enter a higher-ranking community.

From the community where someone lives and their attire, one can deduce all their social information.

A high-level company or prestigious job would not hire someone from a commoner community or slum.

Similarly, if an employee with a high-level position lives in a community below his class, he would quickly be dismissed.

Therefore, Su Li doesn't need to survey the entire Hesse Town; he only needs to inspect the mid-level and high-level communities. If a genius from Modheim Royal Griffin Military Academy came to inspect Hesse Territory, he certainly wouldn't view the commoner areas but would at least tour the middle-class zones of the city.

Su Li's understanding undoubtedly aligns well with the situation in Hesse Town, where high-end communities boast the most luxurious residences, with mansions and villas nestled on large plots surrounded by walls, and private soldiers patrolling the streets to keep ruffians at bay.

Statues of Shalya stand proudly on every street corner and garden, the Dawn Church has nunneries there, and even the Merit Museum of Hesse Territory is present, recording the brilliant victories and spoils of war of the Lord, Knights, and Knight Order across multiple wars. There's also the Border Prince's Territory-themed Border Animal Park.

Even the southwestern mid-class zones have marble clock towers and high towers lining the streets.

Inside are merchants, merchants, and more merchants, including jewelers, embroidery merchants, weapon merchants, grain merchants, bread merchants, furniture merchants, and various others in large numbers.

Simultaneously, their communities feature small plazas and Emblem Academy, Griffin Academy, where middle-class children receive rigorous cultural and Knightly education.

To ensure they do not fall in class, they subject their children to extremely harsh and demanding education. A middle-class child typically has to start their cultural studies at five in the morning, continuing with high-intensity physical training until allowed to sleep at ten at night.

In this regard, they compete even more fiercely than the noble classes. Because nobility ensures their hereditary succession, the legitimate eldest son is guaranteed to inherit the Territorie's title, while other children can maintain the dignity of Knighthood.

But the middle class has no fallback, so a happy education is impossible.

Just sustaining such a high-intensity regimen of training and education is an immense pressure that lower-class commoners cannot bear.

So the lower classes simply choose to lie flat, not because they don't want to learn but because they lack the opportunity.

However, moving down from the middle class doesn't lead directly to the lower class. Beyond the middle-class zones lies the Krankenfeld Community, positioned between the nobility, knighthood, and even the prosperous commercial areas but superior to the working-class zones within Hesse Territory's class structure.

This community is controlled by the Shalya Church, and different from the grand and magnificent hospital on the Territory, this area is where more people can receive medical treatment. Patients and the wounded flock to this area, convinced that even if they cannot receive medical care, just being close to the Divine Hall can heal them.

Meanwhile, this community also houses the most pharmacies in the Territory. Originally, these pharmacies were located in the attic space of an old warehouse, the expansion of the Heisen Castle system in the northern area of the Territory led to the stored materials being moved out, transforming it into a pharmacy shop frequently visited by Shalya Sisters.

Additionally, there is an orphanage operated by Shalya's followers.

Here, you will also find the Pigeon of Love's compassionate soup restaurant, providing care for commoners and all class levels.

And a Magpie Pawnshop, owned by a polite and elegant Half-Elf, who keeps her premises tidy. Despite this, the store's appearance acts as a fairly evident dividing line.

All these structures clearly indicate that this is a significant watershed of the Territory, distinguishing the upper and lower layers of the Territory, providing the last semblance of dignity for those on the verge of class decline.

It's worth mentioning that this area also has the highest number of brothels in the Territory, including the ones Su Li invested in, there are three large brothels, with more than 180 prostitutes engaging in escort services. There's no need to worry that having so many brothels together will lead to fierce competition or that the strong siphon effect of one brothel would take away all the customers.
