Starting With a Reef [Global Survival]

chapter 75 - Day 26 of Survival 03

Many thoughts flashed through Yun Luohe’s mind.Something was wrong. It should’ve been easy for Yúntūn to escape—just spitting out a few strands of silk would’ve been enough to fly away. How could it have been caught? And no one would deliberately target a small spider, right? No matter what, she couldn’t abandon Yúntūn. She had to get it back.Yun Luohe moved at lightning speed, charging toward where Yúntūn was being held.—Before Yun Luohe returned, the area surrounding the shelter had already been laced with traps, just waiting for her to come back.If Yúntūn hadn’t gone ahead just now, those traps would’ve caught Yun Luohe instead.By the time Yun Luohe arrived, she saw Su Misheng picking Yúntūn up from a tangle of vines, examining it closely.“A little spider, huh? Look closely—it’s actually kinda pretty. Its body even glows a little.”Su Misheng’s face was beaming with a bright smile. She wore a deep green trench coat that blended almost seamlessly into the vines behind her. From a distance, Yun Luohe stood still and drew her bow, aiming at Su Misheng. “Put down my pet.”Her tone was cold, leaving no room for argument.Su Misheng froze for a moment, then turned to look at the sudden appearance of Yun Luohe. She stared at Yun Luohe’s face, her smile widening. “Wow! I just love ruining beautiful things.”“So this little guy is your pet, huh? Interesting.”Upon seeing Yun Luohe, Yúntūn let out an excited cry. “Hehe, Hehe, be careful! I’ve been caught—I can’t move.”Yúntūn’s voice was still as soft and cute as ever, warming Yun Luohe’s heart for a brief moment.“I’ll say it again. Put down my pet.”“Oh no, what if I don’t? Are you going to shoot me with an arrow?” Su Misheng blinked playfully. “I’m actually not that interested in the spider. Someone else wanted it.”Someone else…Yun Luohe frowned.“But this collaboration went well. You really are a nice little prey.”Su Misheng glanced at the [Points] displayed above Yun Luohe’s head. “Over five hundred. Not bad at all.”Su Misheng already had over 800 [Points], and she was a red-name player—she had already killed two people. But the two she killed only had a bit over a hundred [Points] and weren’t much of a challenge. Now that she saw someone with high [Points], she was even more excited.Looks like it was time to really have some fun.Suddenly, the vine behind her twisted into a whip and lashed toward a hidden spot. “What? Still hiding and not coming out?”Just as the words left her mouth—Lu Yin stepped out from behind a pine tree.“You can’t handle this on your own? Need me to help?”Su Misheng’s expression turned cold. “We’re cooperating, not working for you.”Lu Yin shrugged, but he felt a chill crawl up his spine. The moment Yun Luohe looked at him, she understood everything. So it was this man behind all of it. From the moment he first saw her and Yúntūn, he had been eyeing the spider.Yun Luohe didn’t hesitate—she immediately drew her bow and fired at Su Misheng. The arrow shot out with a sharp whoosh, flying straight at Su Misheng——but abruptly halted mid-air.Several vines had wrapped around the arrow, intercepting it before it could land.Su Misheng’s trait was [Spirit of Plants]. She could sense and accelerate plant growth. Her contracted pet was a ghost-faced vine. After forming the contract, she awakened her trait directly. Her ability allowed the ghost-faced vine to move 25% faster. She could also change its shape and control it freely. The vine was both her pet and her weapon.Lu Yin stood next to Su Misheng, gripping a large saber.“Yun Luohe, you’d best surrender. You can’t win against the two of us alone. And right now, you don’t have your pet to help you either.”Yun Luohe said, “Is that so? I happen to think I can easily deal with both of you. Let go of my spider, or neither of you will leave alive.”Lu Yin sneered, “That spider is mine. If you beg for mercy now, maybe you’ll suffer a little less.”He had watched her kill that wolf with his own eyes. Sure, Yun Luohe was strong, but that was only because of her brute strength and her spider. She didn’t have any real trump cards. Now that Su Misheng was helping him, he wasn’t afraid of Yun Luohe at all.Su Misheng said, “Stop talking to her. She won’t live anyway. As we agreed: the [Points] and supplies go to me, the spider goes to you. I’ll kill her first, and then give you the spider.”Lu Yin replied, “I keep my word.”He slowly advanced with the saber.Yun Luohe aimed her bow at Su Misheng, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.Su Misheng crossed her arms. “You think you can hurt me? Don’t waste your arrows.”“Really? If I can’t hurt you, I can at least damage that trash vine.”She adjusted her aim to the base of the vines. In that moment, the ghost-faced vine surged forward like a torrent of green waves.Thick vines wove together, forming an impenetrable barrier in the blink of an eye.“Oh please. You think you can break—”Su Misheng’s face radiated confidence, as if the battle was already in the bag.Yun Luohe didn’t panic. Su Misheng and her vine were never her true targets—she had just been testing them.Once she assessed their capabilities, she adjusted her plan and re-aimed at Su Misheng’s shoulder. She fired several arrows in rapid succession—all blocked.Su Misheng turned to Lu Yin. “What are you standing there for? Go!”Lu Yin raised his saber and charged toward Yun Luohe.Su Misheng followed behind, manipulating the ghost-faced vine, preparing for a fatal strike. To them, Yun Luohe was already meat on the chopping block. A duck ready to be cooked.Killing her would be easy. But just as Lu Yin was about to reach her—Yun Luohe suddenly stepped back and loosed her bowstring. The arrow shot straight at Su Misheng.Su Misheng quickly summoned the ghost-faced vine to block it, but Yun Luohe had anticipated that. The moment the arrow was fired, she surged forward, drawing her hunting knife and closing in for close combat. With the vine in play, ranged attacks were useless against Su Misheng. Melee might be the only chance—Even though Yun Luohe didn’t have the upper hand in close quarters either, at least it gave her a shot.Because the vine-shield blocked Su Misheng’s line of sight, she couldn’t see Yun Luohe coming.Overconfident and complacent, Su Misheng didn’t react fast enough. Her ghost-faced vine, lacking independent awareness, didn’t either.Yun Luohe suddenly changed direction.By the time Su Misheng realized it, the vine couldn’t respond in time. There was no defense behind her.Seizing the opening, Yun Luohe slashed her hunting knife across Su Misheng’s arm.“Aaagh!” Su Misheng cried out in pain as blood spurted from her arm.The ghost-faced vine, linked to her via their contract, went into brief chaos. The vines whipped around wildly.Yun Luohe took the chance to stab the vine’s root with her hunting knife. She aimed with precision and force, targeting its weakest point. The vine writhed in pain.Su Misheng, feeling the feedback from their bond, turned pale with rage. She knew the damage was serious.“Well, well, turns out you’re smarter than I thought.”She turned to Lu Yin. “If you don’t do something now, after I deal with her, you’ll be next.”Lu Yin’s face darkened. “Got it.”He activated his trait skill—[Stealth].That was how he had hidden near Yun Luohe before, undetected by her [Perception] skill. He could only use it once per day, and it didn’t render him invisible—only suppressed his presence to surprise his enemy. It had a time limit, so he never used it lightly. His figure suddenly blurred.Yun Luohe lost track of him.In the fog, both Lu Yin and Su Misheng vanished. But Yun Luohe could still sense where Yúntūn was.It was in Su Misheng’s hands. That meant Su Misheng was in front of her, to the right.Yun Luohe sprinted forward and quickly located her target.Even though she couldn’t see clearly, her [Perception] and connection with Yúntūn let her pinpoint Su Misheng’s location. The ghost-faced vine had already been slashed.Yun Luohe emerged in front of Su Misheng. There was no time to summon the vine for defense now.Su Misheng gasped. She hadn’t expected to be found so easily. But she quickly realized it must’ve been the spider’s doing. She frowned and suddenly felt murderous. If she hadn’t promised Lu Yin to hand over the spider, she’d have already told the vine to crush it.But in the instant she was distracted, Yun Luohe was already behind her.“Getting distracted is never a good idea,” Yun Luohe said, hunting knife now at Su Misheng’s neck. Her voice made Su Misheng’s heart lurch.“Put down the knife. Unless you don’t care about that little spider’s life.”Yúntūn was wrapped tightly in the vine, squirming inside the gaps.Yun Luohe said coldly, “Let it go.”“Sure. But with a knife at my neck, I might get nervous and... squish it by accident.”Su Misheng smirked.Yun Luohe pressed the blade slightly deeper, slicing into her skin. “I said let it go. Or you’ll be buried with it.”Now Su Misheng couldn’t laugh anymore. She cursed Lu Yin silently—where the hell had he gone? The sting at her throat made it clear Yun Luohe wasn’t bluffing.Su Misheng gritted her teeth. “I’ll release your pet. But take the knife off me. Or we both die.”Yun Luohe replied, “You’re in no position to bargain.”“Oh yeah? Then we’ll die together.”Su Misheng was afraid that even if she released the spider, Yun Luohe wouldn’t let her go.She began slowly tightening the vines around Yúntūn.Yun Luohe said, “Don’t you dare.”Just a little more pressure, and Yúntūn would be crushed.“If you dare me, I dare back. One last chance—let’s both release.”Yun Luohe knew that once she released Su Misheng, controlling her again would be nearly impossible. But Yúntūn couldn’t be harmed. She kept her expression cold. “Fine. Don’t play games.”Su Misheng snorted. “Relax. This spider isn’t worth more than my life.”They counted down together. Three, two, one—both let go.Neither dared play dirty. As soon as Yúntūn was freed, it spat out silk, stuck to Yun Luohe’s clothes, and flung itself into her arms.Su Misheng backed far away from Yun Luohe.Yúntūn rubbed against Yun Luohe’s chest. “I knew Hehe would come for me. I was just too dumb and got caught. Next time, I won’t.”Yun Luohe said, “It’s fine. As long as you’re okay.”She reached out to pet Yúntūn.Suddenly, a chill ran up her spine. Yun Luohe’s heart dropped. She dodged instinctively—but it was too late.Lu Yin had been hiding all this time, waiting for the perfect moment. He struck with his saber, slashing Yun Luohe’s back. Her face paled, body lurching forward. She nearly collapsed. If it weren’t for the pearl-scale armor she was wearing, she’d already be half-dead.Luckily, the armor had high defense—and reflected damage. When Lu Yin struck her, he was also injured.Blood spurted from his mouth as he looked at Yun Luohe in disbelief.“How… how is this possible?!”He clearly hit her—so why was he coughing up blood?Yun Luohe’s back throbbed with intense pain. The armor had cracked where it was struck, and blood seeped out of the wound. She was seriously hurt. But she forced herself to stand, flipped her hunting knife, and stabbed it into Lu Yin’s stomach. She wanted to kill him right there—But in the next second, two thick vines shot over, grabbed Lu Yin, and dragged him away.Yun Luohe dropped to one knee, hunting knife in the ground, sweat dripping from her brow. Yúntūn was # Nоvеlight # panicking.Gritting her teeth, she said to Yúntūn, “It’s fine. Don’t panic.”She pulled out [high-grade medicinal moss] from her pack, lifted her shirt, and applied it directly to the wound on her back. The instant the moss touched the gash, pain jolted through her entire body.Damn it. The info said it stops bleeding—it didn’t say it hurts like hell! Her hand trembled, but she kept applying the moss across the whole wound. It hurt, but at least the bleeding had stopped. On the other side, Lu Yin was gasping for breath as he thanked Su Misheng.“Thanks… if it weren’t for you, I—”He didn’t finish. His pupils suddenly dilated.Su Misheng raised a brow. “Who said I was saving you?”She smiled sweetly, cruelly.“I just didn’t want to waste [Points]. We’re partners, right? Giving your [Points] to her would’ve been a waste… better to give them to me, don’t you think?”Her voice was merciless.“You—!” Lu Yin glared at Su Misheng. His stomach had been pierced by sharp vines. He was as good as dead.Su Misheng said, “Don’t blame me. You were just useless. Couldn’t do a thing right. And I’ve got no more use for you now.”
