Su Xuan had no friends in Hua Shui City. With no one to rescue him from prison, saving himself was his only option.

"You're about to be sent to the execution block, aren't you?" Ge Yuzhe said bluntly to Tang Fu. "Since you're a dead man walking, I'll let you die knowing the truth. Wasn't your daughter harassed by some ruffian? And you beat that ruffian to death?"

"Yes." Tang Fu's expression grew complicated.

"I hired that ruffian," Ge Yuzhe sneered. "Your daughter is simply gorgeous. And those hands… so soft they seem boneless. So I devised a little scheme to have you thrown in jail and brought your daughter into my household."

Tang Fu clenched his fists so tightly they cracked. Veins bulged on his forehead as he spat out three words, "Ge. Yu. Ze!"

But one thing still baffled him. If Ge Yuzhe wanted his daughter, he could have just hired her as a tailor for his household. Why go through the trouble of framing him? Could a person's heart truly be so vile?

"Enough," Su Xuan said suddenly. "You cannot be left alive."

"What?" Ge Yuzhe tilted his head, not comprehending. "Are you telling me to leave?"

"I'm telling you to die!"

Since becoming wealthy, Su Xuan had seen too much treachery and felt no pity for the wicked. He let out a loud, piercing cry that vibrated through the cell. Outside, the chained Golden-scaled Crocodile heard it and instantly went berserk!

RUMBLE!

The Golden-scaled Crocodile struggled violently, thrashing its body as a terrifying aura poured from it!

CRACK!

In the blink of an eye, the iron chains binding it snapped to pieces!

Once free, the Golden-scaled Crocodile charged toward the jail!

"Stop it!"

"Kill it!"

Seeing the Golden-scaled Crocodile go berserk, the guards outside immediately surrounded it, slashing with their blades and loosing a volley of arrows!

CLANG! CLANG!

But the weapons were useless against its hide, only producing sparks upon impact!

BOOM!

The Golden-scaled Crocodile rammed through the cellblock's main door and burst inside!

"You… you dare be so arrogant?" Ge Yuzhe was utterly horrified to see the creature break in.

He had no time to think, scrambling desperately toward the back of the jail. But this was a prison; there was no exit.

ROAR!

After bursting in, the Golden-scaled Crocodile immediately found Su Xuan and cried out joyfully, like a puppy seeing its long-lost master.

"Ignore me for now. Go punish the wicked!" Su Xuan said with a smile, waving a hand at the creature.

ROAR!

The Golden-scaled Crocodile immediately charged toward Ge Yuzhe. A moment later, a shrill, distorted scream echoed through the jail!

When the Golden-scaled Crocodile returned to Su Xuan, blood was dripping from the corner of its mouth.

BOOM!

Without waiting for an order, the Golden-scaled Crocodile smashed open the door to Su Xuan's cell.

Su Xuan stepped out, reached toward the creature's mouth, and pulled a bloodstained scrap of cloth from its jaws, tossing it to the ground. "Much cleaner now," he muttered.

He then vaulted onto the crocodile's back. He never expected to cause such a commotion right after arriving in Hua Shui City! But there was nothing to be done; he had been forced into it.

"Brother Su, can you take me with you?"

At that moment, Tang Fu shakily got to his feet and looked at Su Xuan, his gaze a mixture of awe and desperation.

"Of course. I can give you a ride," Su Xuan gestured to Tang Fu. "Come on up!"

Tang Fu hurried over, and with a helping hand from Su Xuan, he scrambled onto the Golden-scaled Crocodile's back.

"Let's go, Little Gold!" Su Xuan pointed toward the prison exit.

ROAR!

The Golden-scaled Crocodile let out a triumphant roar and thundered toward the outside!

"Su Xuan, your crime isn't punishable by death! Stop now!"

"If you don't stop, you'll truly be committing a capital offense!"

"Master Ge will surely forgive you!"

The guards outside shouted at him, continuing their useless arrow attacks.

"Apologies, I have pressing matters to attend to," Su Xuan said seriously, swatting away the whistling arrows with a sweep of his palm. "As for Master Ge, he left in quite a hurry. You'd best go find him!"

Before his voice faded, the Golden-scaled Crocodile charged forward, crashing through a thick courtyard wall and carrying Su Xuan and Tang Fu away.

In truth, it could hardly be called an escape. Who flees so brazenly? It was more like a grand, public departure.

Instead of giving chase, the guards, worried for Ge Yuzhe's safety, rushed back into the jail to find him.

It was then that they finally understood what Su Xuan meant when he'd said Ge Yuzhe left in a hurry.

All they found was a blood-stained scrap of fabric from his clothes.

Ge Yuzhe was eaten by the Golden-scaled Crocodile!

This was a catastrophe! A major incident!

The Golden-scaled Crocodile continued to rampage through Hua Shui City, charging out of the city gates in a matter of moments and heading for a deep mountain range.

Su Xuan didn't actually know where to go; it was Tang Fu who claimed to know of a safe place.

"Brother Su," Tang Fu said to Su Xuan, "I didn't actually kill that ruffian on the spot. I planned it for a few days. I had prepared a hiding place in the mountains in advance, but I was caught and thrown into prison before I could use it."

The hiding place was a good distance from Hua Shui City. It took the Golden-scaled Crocodile nearly two hours of frantic running to get there.

"This hiding spot of yours is quite unique," Su Xuan commented with narrowed eyes upon seeing the place.

It was not a house, but a cave concealed by trees and shrubs.

The inside of the cave was surprisingly dry and cool. There were two bedrolls, a large amount of food, and even a source of water. A small spring bubbled in a misty corner of the cave.

"I had planned to kill that ruffian and then hide here with my daughter," Tang Fu said after taking a deep drink from the spring. "I was going to wait until things blew over, then find somewhere else to start a new life, but…"

"Brother Tang, have you forgotten something?" Su Xuan interrupted. "Isn't your daughter still at the Ge Family's?"

Upon hearing this, the color drained from Tang Fu's face.
