Rotting Land: Survive

Chapter 174: Communication Means Yelling

The corpse dog crashed to the ground with a dull thud, the immense impact instantly breaking one of its legs.

A white bone pierced through its flesh, emerging through the skin; if this were an ordinary dog, it would've passed out in pain.

Yet the zombie dog showed no signs of despair despite the bone-deep pain. Instead, it "bravely" stood up, its red eyes fixed on the prey on the rooftop that had led it to such a miserable fate.

Wang Qiang panted heavily with powerful Qi, his heart still lingering with fear. Although he had successfully gotten rid of the corpse dog and climbed onto the rooftop, the recent events were still hard for him to shake off.

His back was soaked with sweat, and his arms trembled uncontrollably after the escape.

"Damn, that beast still dares to glare at me! Damn you, I, I..." Turning around to search, Wang Qiang quickly found what he wanted: a big stone.

Without a word, Wang Qiang grabbed the stone and then roared, "Go to hell, damn dog!"

With a fiery anger, the stone shot out like an arrow, landing precisely where the corpse dog was.

Although the latter dodged in time, its limping right leg made it unstable, causing it to fall to the ground.

Seeing his opponent in trouble, Wang Qiang laughed heartily, completely forgetting the dangerous situation he was in.

However, he forgot, but someone else hadn't; the pressing reality weighed heavily on Tang Xiaoquan's mind, causing his sharp brows to knit tightly together.

What to do? Tang Xiaoquan pondered furiously.

Jumping from the rooftop was undoubtedly unrealistic. Not to mention whether you could land safely, even if you survived the fall, the horde of zombies surrounding the fence would never give you a "chance at life."

Moreover, there was still a zombie dog in the courtyard, lurking with revengeful intent.

With one plan blocked, Tang Xiaoquan could only turn his attention to the rooftop passageway, which he had confirmed could lead down to the ground floor.

But the barking had also attracted a large gathering of zombies to the building's main entrance, so even if they entered the building now, they still couldn't escape the clutches of the zombie horde.

It seemed there was only one option left. Tang Xiaoquan looked towards the distance instinctively:

Who knows how the second team is doing now!

Earlier, considering the second team would be going deep into the village, the survivors were equipped with two phones, one given to the second team and one to the third team.

However, what Tang Xiaoquan never anticipated was that, thinking his second team wouldn't encounter too many dangers, they ended up in such a dire situation.

This truly showed how unpredictable life could be and the tricks fate plays!

Without walkie-talkies, they couldn't contact the outside world, and without contact, rescue was out of the question.

The anxiety made Tang Xiaoquan feel the blazing sun on his head even more intensely, his sweat dripping down with his increasingly chaotic and troubled thoughts.

What to do? What to do?

The simple three words buzzed in Tang Xiaoquan's mind like summer fireflies. Perhaps it was time to take stock of the supplies gathered earlier; no matter how dire the situation now, as long as they didn't descend recklessly, even if the zombies broke through the barriers below, they couldn't touch them at all.

After all, the zombies had lost their climbing ability, so they couldn't reach the rooftop. However, that limping zombie dog...

His brow furrowed slightly, Tang Xiaoquan instinctively walked to the rooftop opening. Although unsure if the injured zombie dog could still attack, it seemed wiser to add some weight there for safety.

Having dealt with the rooftop panels, Tang Xiaoquan returned to the essence of the situation.

Indeed, while the zombies couldn't attack them now, the limited supplies also meant they couldn't stay on the rooftop indefinitely.

Additionally, more serious was that in a few hours, the scorching noonday sun would arrive.

By then, they would inevitably be exposed to the unshaded countryside.

Remember, one can go days without food, but not days without water...

At best, you may faint from heatstroke; at worst, you could suffer cramps and die.

Though Tang Xiaoquan wasn't a professional doctor, he knew a bit about the possible symptoms caused by dehydration.

Instinctively glancing at the sweat pouring down his body from nervousness and heat, a trace of worry appeared on Tang Xiaoquan's face.

Undoubtedly, in the current situation, whether they jumped down to fight or stayed on the rooftop for rescue, death seemed an unavoidable reality.

This left Tang Xiaoquan feeling a bit despondent. Just as he was worrying about their fate, his good brother Wang Qiang suddenly went berserk, waving his arms and howling to the sky, "Hu Ge! Hu Ge!"

His heart almost instantly clenched, and Tang Xiaoquan rushed over to pull his brother away from the wall, then glared angrily and questioned, "Hey! Qiangzi! What are you doing! Are you crazy! Don't you think there aren't enough beasts below! Shouting like this..."

"Pop!" A crisp sound interrupted. Wang Qiang didn't give Tang Xiaoquan a chance to finish; he flicked open the latter's arm, then sneered indifferently, "Hmph, do you think adding a few more beasts below would change anything?"

Staring blankly at Wang Qiang, Tang Xiaoquan found himself momentarily speechless.

Indeed! As his brother said, what difference would it make to have more zombies below? If they couldn't get out, they still couldn't get out. If there was a difference, it would be the increased terrifying howls.

Seeing Tang Xiaoquan silent, Wang Qiang ignored him and returned to the wall, continuing to shout at the top of his lungs.

Perhaps Qiangzi's method was indeed their last choice, Tang Xiaoquan contemplated.

Certainly, the shouting would attract zombies, but it increased their chances of being rescued.

In other words, even if they ended up surrounded by zombies here, their shouts might assist Hu Ge in his mission.

Thus, even in death, it would be a meaningful end!

Showing a trace of melancholy, Tang Xiaoquan bitterly smiled and shook his head.

Clearly, deep down, he didn't want to die! But often, the harshness of reality forces you to face death!

Oh well! Oh well! Having come to terms with it, Tang Xiaoquan stopped worrying, took a step towards the wall, took a deep breath, and then shouted:

"Hu Ge! Can you hear us? We're trapped!"
