Rise Of The Death Monarch

Chapter 78: They Belong To Me Now

Dante, Luna and Lilith were sitting around the table in the warm room as the family sat down just after them. He didn't know what to say, he'd never expected to be in a humans house, getting served dinner. While lost in his mind, the older man commented. ''So where are you planning to travel too, my lord?''

''All over, destroying the Darkmoore Kingdom,'' he responded after shaking his head. ''I've had enough of them attacking me, so I came to Dawnfen to kill the king.''

When Selvina and Sadie heard this their eyes widened, jaws dropped in shock. This made Dante laugh as Luna spoke up. ''They've been sending heroes after him, we ran into them in the now destroyed fortress.''

Jacob nodded. ''That makes sense, the kingdom has been expanding all across the continent. Absorbing the smaller nations while threatening Everwest, one of the last free realms on Dawnfen.''

''Good, because in the coming months chaos will reign supreme,'' Dante reassured, a determined glint in his eyes as he looked at the older man. ''I want to you and the cult to travel around the continent, recruiting more people.''

''Won't we be attacked by the roaming undead?'' Selvina questioned, a worried expression appearing.

Dante shook his head. ''They will most likely be mine, and now I've met the Death Cult, they're also mine. So the Zombies, Ghouls and Death Fiends will leave you be, attracting even more people.''

When Jacob heard this, his dark eyes widened. ''You can do such a thing?''

He was about to answer but a notification popped up.

[Do you accept the Death Cult as subodinates?]

Dante accepted and felt a pull between him and Jacob, who also felt it. The older man got excited as more connections spread out, joining with the other members of the cult, prompting another notification to appear, reguarding the Domain.

[Add Death Cult Compound - Cost: 5,000 Death Points]

'Oh, that's convinent,' he mused.

[Death Points: 62,000>57,000]

Dante shook his head and bought the place before looking at his human minion who was kneeling alongside his family. When he saw this, he revealed. ''I have a place where you and the cult can rest for the nights. Get prepared to move and bring enough food until you can produce it in my realm.''

''Your realm?'' Sadie asked, her innocent voice echoing throughtout the room.

When Luna and Lilith heard this, their heads snapped to him, shock written across their faces as the Death Witch hissed. ''Why're you telling them about that?''

Dante chuckled and reassured the two women. ''Because they belong to me now, I can feel every cult member through the connection. The Death Cult was created to be my human forces and I shall help them grow even stronger.''

Luna's eyes widened, her expression of shock changed to amusement as she nodded. ''Good, having a human army will benefit you greatly.''

''It will show people that you're reasonable and not a monster,'' the blonde added.

''I guess so,'' Dante replied, glancing at Sadie while opening a portal. ''A safe place for the cult to live, thanks to worshipping me and the Death Goddess.''

When Jacob heard this he jumped up, excited. ''This is a blessing from the Death Monarch and Goddess! The cult can grow even stronger now! Now there's a safe place for us to gather we can send out scouts to take over more villages and towns!''

Dante nodded. ''That's the plan. The first fifty members will be able to go to and from the cult compound but the magic will kill any enemy's that try trick you into bringing them here. New recruits will be accepted once you give them the Death Blessing.''

A portal tore open in the room, and a Death Ghoul emerged, its presence chilling the air. The creature glided toward Jacob, who stumbled backward, but it was too fast, halting inches from him. With a wave of its claw, a searing pain erupted on the back of the older man's hand, drawing a sharp yelp.

As the agony subsided, Jacob glanced at the mark, a stark, unblinking eye etched into his skin. Dante smirked at his reaction. ''This grants you the power to anoint new recruits, binding them to the Death Cult.''

''Thank you, my lord,'' the cult leader exclaimed, eyes wide.

Selvina and Sadie were excited as Jacob asked. ''Can we go see it?''

''Yes, let me finish dinner first,'' he answered.

Dante savored the steaming stew. After a few minutes, he was satisfied, and rose while summoning a portal to the Cult Compound's Domain. He stepped through, followed closely by Luna and Lilith. The family hesitated, their faces etched with unease, before cautiously entering.

As he emerged into the Domain, he found himself within the fortified compound, a sanctuary shielded by towering walls. The barriers stood to safeguard the cultist from the tide of millions of undead that roamed beyond. The compound stretched across the landscape, a meticulously organized enclave designed for the Death Cult's followers.

Sturdy buildings rose from the ground, stone facades etched with death sigils and other symbols he didn't know about. Most of these structures served as living quarters, housing the cult members. Scattered among them were temples dedicated to the him and the Death Goddess.

Dante was suprise, Luna started exploring the settlement while Lilith gawked at the sudden addition tot he Domain. She turned to him, expecting an answer, causing him to laugh at her reaction before explaining. ''Marzanna gave me an option to accept them as my underlings and I accepted. So this is the place they'll stay while recruiting even more people.''

''How many gifts is the goddess giving you?''

''I don't know,'' he shrugged. ''I guess she wants me to beat the Light Whores heroes who are still being summoned?''

Lilit's head tilted to the side as she questioned. ''And why do you think that?''

''Because I can sense them arriving on this world, just not where too or which kingdom,'' Dante revealed.

The family materialized through the portal moments later stepping into the Compound. Their eyes widened as they took in the imposing surroundings, the air heavy with the weight of arcane energy. Little Sadie, craned her neck to gaze at the towering walls that encircled the enclave.

She let out a low whistle, her voice tinged with awe. ''Those walls are massive, bigger than any city I've ever seen!''

Dante turned to the girl, a faint smile curling his lips. ''They're built to keep you and the cult safe from the undead hordes beyond,'' he explained. ''The creatures out there may not target you directly, but some are too feral to control. Without these walls, their hunger could overpower my will, draining their strength, a power I intend to preserve.''

Following that, he ordered Jacob to bring in the rest while he continued on to the next city. The family were said their goodbyes before rushing off to check out their new homes. Once they were gone, Luna reappeared in her wolf woman. She was running toward them after exploring the compound.

The older woman came to a stop and transform into her human form, a bright smile stretching across her face. ''This place is secure, master. None of the undead will be able to get inside and cause trouble for the cult.''

Dante nodded in agreement. ''That's the idea, it's why the goddess gave it to me,'' he explained.

Afterward, the three of them left the Domain and began heading further norther as the road were quiet, no merchants were traveling from the Everwest Kingdom. They walked in silence as Luna returned to her wolf form to scout ahead. Lilith decided to transform into her raven form and taking off.

She was going to locate their next target, leaving Dante alone. He continued walking but the Death Panther lunged out of a portal, pinning him to the ground with her large paw, her red eyes staring into his as a woman's voice echoed in his mind. 'Your kind hunted mine to extinction, I want to tear your throat out but can't thanks to serving you.'

Dante;s eyes narrowed but wasn't about being trapped. ''My kind? Do you think I'm a human?''

The monster nodded her big head, causing him to laugh a sound that sent a chill down the Death Panthers spine as she went to move but he stopped her. Grabbing the paw as he replied. ''Oh I'm far from human, now smell me and you'll see for yourself.''

When the creature heard this, its eyes widened in shock before a bright light erupted from her and she turned into a smaller version of herself. Dante chuckled and ran his fingers through its soft fur, making her pur as he asked. ''Will you transform for me yet?''

'Not yet,' she answered. 'But I'm glad you're not human, I hate them.'

''So do I,'' Dante agreed. ''Would you like a name? I haven't given you one yet?''
