Rise Of The Death Monarch

Chapter 82: Why Should I Accept?

Dante was standing on an overcrop that gave him the perfect view of the feasting Ogres that he rewarded. The creatures were tearing into the bodies of monsters that were hunted from the surrounding mountains, and soon after it began, they began singing about bringing death to the world for their new king.

This amused him to know end, but Luna growled from the chair beside him. ''Damn creatures are brutes, look how they're eating the humans we captured? We could've turned them into undead.''

''Was it wise to give them the people?'' Lilith asked, looking concerned. ''We could've used the vile beings as slaves?''

''I don't care for that,'' Dante replied unbothered, eating some noodles after craving them. ''I have monsters to do anything I need, also don't forget the growing cult. It has close to two hundred members waiting to be indoctrinated into the Death Cult by Jacob.''

The blonde woman's eyes widened in surprise when hearing his reply. She gave him a wicked smile, but Luna let out a mischievous giggle that seemed almost out of place amidst the grim scene unfolding below. ''Oops, my bad," the wolf beauty commented. "I completely forgot about that. In my defense, I've been looking at that,'' she said, pointing at the Orgre's.

She gestured casually toward the towering monsters. They had found an enemy settlement a couple of days ago, he ordered them to attack, and the place was guarded by a small contingent of Darkmoore soldiers. Now, those same men and women were in the clutches of the monsters.

The Ogres, their gnarled hands gripping the struggling captives, tore into one of the men with sickening force, biting off his head. The air filled with the hideous sounds of ripping flesh and snapping bones, a scene of carnage that painted the rocky ground in shades of crimson as other humans screamed.

Lilith couldn't help but laugh. ''You're brutal, with these creatures on our side, we can storm across Darkmoore right up until the capital's gates,'' she excitedly expressed. ''Maybe the court mages will be able to kill them.''

Dante agreed; his evil smile grew wide. ''Yes, there aren't any stronger monsters in these mountains apart from the colony of Wyverns I want to collect.''

The two women agreed as Luna glanced at him, big blue eyes full of love and excitement at the upcoming chaos they would cause. ''We'll help, handsome. I want to fight some more.''

Following that, the three started eating as the Mountain Ogres feasted, getting even stronger thanks to the death magic flowing through their veins. After several hours, he sent them into the Domain to make a home there. Once silence took over the valley, he summoned the Death Wyvern, and they climbed on its back.

They took off, flying toward a city in the distance. When Dante saw this, he turned to Lilith. ''Do you know which kingdom that belongs to?''

''Everwest,'' she replied, smiling. ''It's called Mountainholm, a place hidden from the world outside, and it only has a single road into the city.''

''Good, I need to sleep in a soft bed,'' Luna commented, stretching her arms.

Dante's eyes flicked to her chest, catching the way her boobs moved with each step under her tight leather armor. Lust sparked in him, hot and immediate, but he shoved it down. There were still days from an inn, where they could find a real bed and give in to their passion.

Just then, he ordered the Wyvern to fly toward Mountainholm and landed away from the city so the soldiers wouldn't see them. After ten minutes, they arrived and landed in a secluded clearing, allowing him to send the monster back to the Domain as Lilith appeared in her raven form.

She landed on his shoulder, revealing. ''I'm going to scout out the city, see what juicy rumors I can find.''

''Be careful, Lily,'' he replied.

The blonde nodded, then took off, flying into the distance while Luna stepped beside him. ''She's a good addition to our team. I can't wait to meet the others.''

Dante glanced at her, red eyes questioning as she waved him away. ''Let's just say I've been given visions from Marzanna, but I cannot reveal anything, or it won't happen.''

''One day, I'll be strong enough that gods won't be able to hide anything from me,'' he replied, angry at the secret.

Luna knew he was pissed off and reassured him. ''It's nothing bad.''

Dante sighed in relief while the two started walking toward the nearby road that led to Mountainholm. When reaching it, they spotted dozens of merchants heading toward the sanctuary.''

''Ready to relax?'' the wolf woman questioned, a bright smile appearing on her pretty face.

''Yes, but I need some new clothes and more travel food,'' he answered. ''I'm bored of the noodles now, luckily I have one left.''

Just then, a portal opened, catching Dante's attention as several Viking-looking figures stepped out, surrounding him in a protective circle. His eyebrow rose as Jacob appeared, grinning. ''My lord! I have brought you some Northerners, the greatest fighting in Dawnfen. They rule the north, a savage and tough land that swore loyalty to the Death Monarch.''

''And why would they do that without seeing him?'' Luna questioned, growling at the axe-wielding brutes.

One of the biggest stepped forward, carrying two swords that he pointed one at him and spoke in a deep voice. ''I am Bjorn, leader of the Greybeards. We worship the Death Goddess Marzenna, and we need proof that you're her chosen.''

''You want proof?'' Dante responded, his face shifting as his rage exploded. ''Who are you to demand proof!''

He pointed at one of the warriors and cast Death Bolt that instantly killed the man, his body hitting the ground with a thud. This shocked Bjorn, but he continued his show and pointed at the dead. ''Arise!''

Moments later, death magic poured out and seeped into the Greybeard, who rose, bigger than before, with glowing red eyes as he let out a roar that scared the merchants passing by who watched the scene in shock. Jacob's smile widened as he exclaimed. ''I told you, Bjorn, my oath was the truth, my master is the Death Monarch.''

The bear of a man looked at Dante and nodded before dropping to one knee, speaking with total respect. ''My lord. We Greybeards have been banished from our lands so our family can survive. We're ready to fight for you and protect you in this chaotic city. There will be many enemies.''

''And why should I accept?'' he countered.

Bjorn gazed into his eyes. ''Because we fight hard, like Northerners. We turned to the Death Goddess when the Light abandoned our lands,'' the older man revealed. ''Turning into the strongest fighting force on Dawnfen.''

''Swear an oath that you will serve me and me alone, we shall take the north when the time comes,'' he replied, grinning ear to ear.

Luna was shocked as the surrounding warriors dropped as Bjorn swore an oath to forever serve him. He leaned in and whispered into the wolf woman's ear. ''I'll take any soldiers I can get, Darkmoore is full of strong enemy's we'll need them.''

''I understand,'' she replied, smiling.

Dante turned to Bjorn and used Death Eyes on the bear of a man.

His eyes widened at the humans' rank and smiled as ten more Greybeards poured out of the portal. Jacob appeared beside him, a look of devotion in his eyes. ''I'm going to bring the remaining Northerners into the compound.''

''Alright,'' Dante said, glancing at Bjorn. ''Head to the Domain and wait there. I'll call if I need you. I want some time alone with Luna and Lilith.''

Bjorn gave a curt nod and stepped through the portal nearby, leaving him alone with the wolf woman. She turned to him, her lips curling into a playful grin. ''Seems you've got quite the fan club, handsome.''

Dante turned to the gathered group of merchants, staring at him like he was some sort of hero. He scoffed and began walking toward Mountainholm City, ignoring the looks the people were giving him. After ten minutes, they reached the back of the line at the main gates, that was guarded by Everwest troops.

While standing there, Luna turned to him with a curious expression. ''Why are we waiting here?''

''Because I don't want to cause chaos in this kingdom, they've been fine to me,'' he revealed. ''Plus, I want us to relax here before moving north.''

Following that, the wolf woman agreed, and the two began waiting as the line started getting shorter thanks to the soldiers moving people quickly. By the time they reached the entrance, the tired guard glanced at them. ''What brings you to Mountainholm?'' he asked.

''Rest and to buy supplies,'' Dante answered.

The older man looked up from the clipboard and waved them through when looking into his crimson eyes. ''Go through! Welcome to the hidden city!''

Dante chuckled and stepped into Mountainholm only to be shocked at the sight he was witnessing.
