Doomsday: I Can Get a Hint

Chapter 169: Hero

A Heart-Eating Ghost leapt out from the woods.

Liu Zhiquan's eyes turned cold, and he swept his great sword horizontally. The Heart-Eating Ghost assumed a defensive stance in mid-air.

Its claws braced against Liu Zhiquan's great sword, but the immense force still knocked it flying into a tree.

Wang Hao drew the Blade of Plunder and flung it directly.

The Blade of Plunder pierced through the Heart-Eating Ghost's mouth, pinning it to the tree.

The Heart-Eating Ghost struggled twice, then its body went limp.

Wang Hao sprinted over, pulled out the Blade of Plunder, and switched to the second form.

The Blade of Plunder transformed into a horizontal sword.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh"

Just then, seven or eight Heart-Eating Ghosts attacked simultaneously.

Wang Hao killed one with a single slash, then lifted his foot to kick another away.

Liu Zhiquan also swung his great sword, protecting Xiaoyueyue while slashing at the Heart-Eating Ghosts.

Under the combined force of the two Superpower Users, they quickly dealt with the ambushing Heart-Eating Ghosts.

"Strange!"

After the battle, Liu Zhiquan squatted on the ground, collecting the crystal stones from the Heart-Eating Ghosts while muttering.

"You noticed it too?"

Wang Hao, who was busy, raised an eyebrow.

"Yes! These Heart-Eating Ghosts seem much stronger than the ordinary ones."

"Indeed!"

Wang Hao nodded.

Liu Zhiquan relied on his intuition, but Wang Hao could judge based on specific numbers.

The values of these Heart-Eating Ghosts were generally high.

Did they eat many human hearts?

That seems rather unreasonable.

"Do you think it's because of the previous purple energy pillar that strengthened them?"

Wang Hao proposed this hypothesis.

After entering the Purple Gold Mountain, he felt that the spiritual power absorbed by the Blade of Plunder had increased.

The spiritual qi here was very abundant.

These creatures might have come to absorb this energy.

"Very likely."

Liu Zhiquan looked somewhat grim:

"One or two getting stronger is manageable, but if they all got strengthened, it becomes much harder."

"Let's keep moving and see, if worst comes to worst, we'll just run!"

Wang Hao seemed indifferent.

If they really couldn't win, he could rely on Xiaoyueyue.

With Xiaoyueyue's teleportation and his own combat power, escaping wouldn't be too big of an issue.

"That's all we can do."

Liu Zhiquan nodded, and the three continued climbing the stairs.

Along the way, they also encountered some Ghouls and zombies.

Wang Hao swiftly drew his pistol, shooting them all in the head.

"Goodness, Younger Brother Wang, your shooting skills are quite impressive!"

Liu Zhiquan exclaimed in amazement.

The pistol wasn't very powerful.

Even to kill ordinary creatures, it had to be a headshot.

Zombies moved slowly, which was manageable, but the Ghouls were quite fast.

Very few could headshot like Wang Hao.

"Not bad, after the apocalypse, I got hold of firearms and practiced for a long time."

Wang Hao smiled casually.

The two continued forward.

Soon, they found a body.

He was wearing a special operations uniform, with a body bitten and a gunshot wound to the head, surrounded by many monster corpses.

Special forces soldiers were ultimately not Superpower Users!

Even with superior physical strength and combat ability, they couldn't transcend human limitations.

Liu Zhiquan's eyes flashed with a touch of sadness, as he lowered his great sword and respectfully saluted him.

Wang Hao, however, didn't pay much attention and searched around.

He wanted to find those special bullets.

But after searching for a while, he couldn't find special bullets, not even regular ammo.

This left Wang Hao somewhat disappointed.

The bullets were probably taken by his teammates.

It made sense, given the number of monsters here, and each person's ammo was limited.

For ordinary people like them, without ammo, it was almost like facing death.

"Yueyue!"

Wang Hao crouched down and opened his arms.

Xiaoyueyue leapt into his embrace.

The upcoming path was quite perilous, so they had to pay attention to Xiaoyueyue's safety.

Liu Zhiquan's expression also became serious.

He gripped the great sword with both hands, continuing to clear the path ahead.

Climbing the steep stairs, they continued ascending.

"Bang bang bang bang bang."

The low gunfire reached their ears.

"Quick!"

Liu Zhiquan immediately quickened his pace.

All the monsters rushing along the way were cut down by him with his sword.

Wang Hao, wielding the Blade of Plunder with a reverse grip, also slew the Ghouls charging from both sides.

These monsters posed no threat to them.

Unless their numbers reached a certain point.

Upon reaching the platform, there was a small shop.

Chairs and tables scattered the platform.

There, bodies lay strewn in chaos.

"Ratatatatatata."

Two soldiers in special operation uniforms, rifles in hand, stood at the entrance of the second set of stairs, their rifles spitting fire as they gunned down monsters.

They were buying time for their teammates going up.

"White Tiger!"

Liu Zhiquan, gripping his great sword with a reverse grip, charged and jumped high, biceps bulging as he slashed fiercely in the air.

A huge white tiger phantom roared out, sweeping across and shredding numerous monsters.

Upon landing, he spun like a top, grinding nearby monsters into paste.

Wang Hao held Xiaoyueyue, evading attacks while elegantly slaughtering the monsters.

Though not as violently unrivaled as Liu Zhiquan, sweeping through thousands,

he was still graceful and effective, taking down a good number.

However, monsters climbed up from all directions.

No matter how many they killed, it seemed endless.

Liu Zhiquan reached the two special forces soldiers.

"Brothers, go up, I'll hold them back for a while."

Swinging his sword at the rushing monsters, he said.

The two special forces soldiers were stunned, then gave a bitter smile.

"You're Superpower Users, aren't you? You go ahead, we've been bitten, let us cover for you!"

Wang Hao spun around, slashing nearby monsters, then leapt with Xiaoyueyue over their heads up the stairs.

Without saying a word, he dashed upwards with Xiaoyueyue.

Liu Zhiquan hesitated.

"Go ahead, brother, we're done for, but you're Superpower Users, you have a chance to survive, to find opportunities.

Humanity's future depends on you."

The two soldiers stood tall, gunning down the monsters while shouting:

"Fight for Hua Country's rise, for humankind's resurgence, kill!"

Ratatatatatata

Liu Zhiquan sprinted ahead of Wang Hao to clear the path.

As the gunfire grew sparser and finally stopped, Liu Zhiquan instinctively wanted to look back.

"Don't look back, don't stop, keep moving, don't let their efforts go to waste."

Wang Hao said solemnly.

These two soldiers, nothing extraordinary, but they used their lives to buy time for them.

Though the time was not much, it deserved respect.

After all, it was exchanged with their lives.
