I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 109: The Buyer Seller and Auctioneer are all shocked?

'Kaelus?' Leo stared blankly.

It was different to play with Fiona over items that no one wanted. But now he was bidding for something that two ancient houses wanted when he was supposed to be in hiding?

Was he worried that his disguise wasn't detected yet? Leo couldn't help but wonder.

What surprised him even more was the reason. He couldn't understand why Kaelus would want this thing when it was literally considered useless in Necropolis.

'Unless... he's not trying to buy it. He's just trying to play around and mess with others? That little bastard! Good work, little brother! Make the price rise more. Just make sure you don't end up being the last bid, or I'll stab that broke ass of yours in anger!'

After the initial surprise, Leo calmed down as he roughly guessed what this little runaway skeleton would be thinking.

Even though he wasn't certain if his guess was right, it was enough to calm himself as he crossed his arms and closed his eyes.

He didn't want to see anything. He just wanted to hear the sweet music of the bid rising, and oh, rising it did.

The next rise came from Selene herself, who brought it to five hundred billion.

'When two ancient planets, and a little skeleton are fighting to give me money, who am I to stop them? Go on higher. Make me richer than a freaking middle tier planet at least!'

The corner of Leo's lips crept up as a third bid came from Nephilim. And just like that, the cycle began where only three people were bidding for the most coveted item in the world at the moment.

As for the others, none of them wanted to bid beyond their means since the bidding had already gone beyond their range.

Even Fiona could only watch in disbelief. The numbers that were being thrown around for a single item was crazy. Even if she had money, she could never get herself to do something like this.

'Oh right, what's the time now?'

Leo suddenly opened his eyes amidst the intensifying bidding war. Only a few minutes had passed, and the bidding had already reached nine hundred billion, soon to surpass even the exaggerated net worth of the Alpha Corporation.

Still, he appeared to be distracted by something as he checked his watch, realising something.

'That's right! It's almost time. Before long, it will be Alpha Corp's New Year's fireworks..."

After verifying the time, he again closed his eyes, even as the corner of his lips crept up more into a smirk.

....

Meanwhile at another faraway planet, a small unknown ring was kept in a locker with the most precious treasures of the Zebrodia Branch of Lionel Family.

Within twenty four hours, it was to be transferred to the planet of dwarves for the verification of this unknown material. But until then, it was to stay in the locker.

Even the Branch Manager didn't know that the ring had entered the locker, but it was never going to leave this locker. Or at least not like they expected.

The Branch Manager locked the secure room, and then activated all the traps that could even kill the strongest heroes of earth with one misstep.

After finishing the final check, he left the bank, being the last person to step out of it.

"After the item is verified to be a rare treasure, Lionel Family will definitely promote me! Good thing I kept it a secret from others, or they would've taken the credit! I'll only tell them after the verification of the rare material, and my future will be secure!"

He was laughing throughout his way out of the branch as he entered the ship provided by Lionel Family to return home, looking forward to seeing everyone's faces when he was promoted the next time.

"One Trillion," Voldred's son Kaelus raised the big again, slurping his drink.

"One Trillion? Is that skeleton really worth it?" Timmy asked in amazement, wondering just how rich Kaelus actually was.

They had already won the last bidding war against Fiona, but what they spent that time was nothing compared to what they were spending now.

"It's worth sht," Kaelus suddenly said with a straight face. "I wouldn't even feed these things to the pests in our Well of Annihilation."

"Worth what?" Timmy asked again, rubbing his ears, wondering if he was overhearing things.

"Hahaha, something is wrong with my ears. I thought you said it's worth sh-"

"That's right. No, maybe I was exaggerating. It should be worth even less," Kaelus scoffed, his gaze carrying a disgust at the flower like it was his lifelong enemy.

Only those within Necropolis knew why Kaelus hated the Celestial Lotus so much. It was because for a long time, these Lotuses were his food, and they tasted really bad.

"Ah yeah, that makes sense." Timmy nodded, as if understanding before he suddenly raised his voice, "Like hell it does! Why are you spending so much over things that are worth nothing?"

"Meh, I was just getting bored. In any case, it's not as if I have that much to pay for it anyway. I'll just back off from the bid when it's the right time, let those idiots okay around."

Kaelus finished speaking, sounding like everything was in his control. But suddenly he felt like something was wrong.

He raised his head and looked around him, realising that he hadn't heard any rise in the bidding price. Even now, he was the last bidder.

Suddenly, it was as if the floor was pulled from under his feet.

"T-they wouldn't chicken out from just this much, right? Right...?!" He asked with a wry smile.

Unfortunately, that seemed to be exactly just that, as no more bids came. There was absolute silence as many people were looking at him.

Even the auctioneer was surprised as the last bidder appeared to be someone that wasn't even a VIP?

The Auctioneer was brought back to her senses as someone coughed amongst the guests, and she took a deep breath.

"That's right! So the final bidding is one trillion credits from the gentlemen on seat 667... If there are no more bids, the Lotus will belong to the guest here."

Even the Auctioneer was surprised as there were no more bids. Something felt out of place but she could only do her job.

"One Trillion... One!"

"One Trillion... Two!"

"One Trillion... Three!"

And just like that, the strangest auction had come to an end, where the buyer, the seller, and the auctioneer were all confused.
