I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 59: The Hidden Buyer?

Kaelus was left behind in the room, while Leo had rushed away. Inwardly, he was really gleeful. So many wealthy people were welcoming Leo. Didn't it mean that he was truly the wealthiest amongst the wealthy?

Just what kind of story would it make if he became richer than Leo. At this moment, he had truly started considering Leo an antagonist of his story that he needed to surpass.

Unfortunately, that thought didn't last long. With each passing second, his face kept dropping further and further. It was as if his jaws were almost about to drop on the floor.

"Mr. Leo is so kind. To think that he would treat us with such respect. I couldn't see even the slightest bit of arrogance on his face, despite him being so popular."

"Of course that would be the case. Didn't you hear what kind of person he is? He's someone who lived in poverty all his life."

"He was looked down on by even his neighbours, and rejected for even the lowest guards of jobs like dungeon slime cleaning."

"Despite all that, he didn't give up. He kept working hard. He rose from poverty and made discoveries that changed the lives of every hero fighting for our planet! So what if he doesn't have special powers? He is a hero in a true sense!"

"That's right. His life's story is so motivating. He is like a protagonist that fell from heaven to change our lives. I am his true fan."

"Me too! I was so starstruck when shaking his hand that I even forgot to let it go. But he didn't say anything about it. What a good person..."

As soon as Leo had left, the entire room was filled with gossip about him. Even the rumours about his life were being discussed.

Some were exaggerated so much that there was even a story that his fiance had cheated on him, and then broke the engagement because he was poor.

No one could verify such rumors but it didn't matter to them. That was the power of gossip. No matter where in the universe, it was truly something that gave people entertainment.

The managers didn't notice the expressions of Leo's bodyguard. He looked like he could cry at any moment.

'What the heck? Wasn't that supposed to be my story going forward? Didn't Reven say that the story on the screen was fake and there was no such person?'

"To think that such a tragic person was living right next to me, and I wanted to suppress him?" Kaelus dropped on his knees in disbelief. "Doesn't that mean that I'm not the protagonist, but the antagonist of this story, trying to crush the hero?"

He covered his face in shock. His entire worldview was shattered.

When he first saw the movie, he really felt bad for the protagonist. He wanted to become his friend. He wanted to help the protagonist in his life. It was only because Reven said that it was a lie, that he decided to take the role himself.

He didn't know that the person really existed. The movie was based on Reven's life! At least that's what Kaelus started thinking.

The sympathy and pride that he had felt for the protagonist of that story, had suddenly shifted to Leo.

Initially, he only wanted to play the role and eventually make Leo kick him aside, so he could get his tragic beginning.

Now, his entire thought process had changed. Instead of being kicked away, and using Leo as a stepping stone, he wanted to support Leo.

He wanted to help Leo rise even higher, so that not just this lowly planet, but the entire universe would know him.

His tragic backstory and his eventual rise was something that Kaelus wanted to witness himself.

In his mind, he had suddenly changed his role. From the tragic protagonist, he had suddenly started seeing him as the hands behind the curtain which would help Leo rise even higher.

"That's right! I will help him!" Kaelus stood up, clenching his fists tighter.

....

Leo was sitting on a toilet seat, face to face with his little goblin manager.

The little manager, still in his professional attire and round glasses, was looking at Leo weirdly.

He looked at the seat beneath Leo and then at his face. "You really have a weird kink. But I must tell you, I don't swing that way."

"You motherf-" Leo almost blurted out in disbelief. "Don't you see I'm wearing pants?!"

Just what did he mean that he didn't swing that way? Just what was this little bastard trying to imply?

Leo took a deep breath, trying to calm his heart. "I called you here because this is the only place where I can get some privacy. I can't let anyone know what I'm about to do."

"You can't let anyone know what you're about to do?" The little goblin wrapped his arms around his chest and stepped back in haste.

"You freaking bastard, stop letting your imagination run wild! I meant I need you to transfer the credits from my account. I need to buy some shares anonymously!"

The Goblin still looked suspicious, but he still sat down on his chair and started typing fiercely on his keyboard.

"Which company's shares do you want to buy?" The Goblin asked.

"Alpha Corp," Leo answered. "It should've gone public just a few minutes ago."

"Isn't that your own company," The Goblin straightened his glasses. "Are we doing something illegal?"

"Depends on your definition of illegal," Leo answered with a blank face. "Also, isn't your entire bank illegal? Are you sure you should be saying such things?"

The Goblin didn't answer and started typing even more fiercely on the keyboard. It made Leo wonder if he was trying to smash the keyboard instead of typing on it.

"Do you want to buy all the shares? Should I bid with every single credit that you have?"

"Yeah. The more the better. I need to inflate the value of this company. Save just a hundred thousand credits for emergencies, and invest the rest."

The Goblin returned to punching the keyboard, and after a few seconds, he sighed in relief.

"Congratulations, Dear Customer."

"Did we get it already?" Leo asked, his eyes shining in excitement.

"Of course not," The Goblin proudly answered. "I congratulated you because the company's value is inflated just like you wanted. It's just that the credit doesn't go to you."

"What do you mean?"

"It seems like your credits aren't enough to buy even a single available share."

"What nonsense are you speaking? The company was divided into only 5000 shares. I kept 4950 shares for myself, and made only fifty available. How can close to nineteen million not be enough to even buy a single share, let alone all?"

"The current price for a single publicly traded share is..." The Goblin slammed the keyboard again before saying, "Twenty One Million Credits."

"It means the current bidding for the fifty shares is sitting at 1.05 Billion Credits, and its rising. From what I can see through the records, only two sides are left in the bidding after such a steep rise."

"Two sides? Which idiots are bidding such a high price for just a minority share of a no name company?"

"I tracked one side. It looks like it belongs to an Earth's Organization called Hero Guild. They aren't even trying to hide their identity."

"The heck? Are they trying to keep an eye on me because of those elixirs?" Leo stood up. "Who is on the other side, competing with the Tower in wealth?"

Even the Goblin looked confused as he was asked about the other side.

"Something is strange... Even I can't track the real identity of the other person. It looks like there are too many protective measures taken to keep their identity hidden."
