Becoming the Wasteland Overlord With My Harem System!

Chapter 138: Unconventional!

Axel was a man of action.

As soon as he locked onto the idea of gathering everything, he didn't spare any effort in realizing it.

The first step to achieve it was to make a safe place for them... and it was honestly easy to do, knowing what was to come.

"Fenrir, dig a hole through the wall, large enough for three of us to fit easily!"

"Yes, Master!"

Axel pointed at a spot near the ceiling, a point that was essentially an arm's length away from the next floor's God's Mineral ceiling layer. To Fenrir, reaching such a high place was easy.

In a single leap, she reached near the top of the wall.

With a single swipe of her arm, a large chasm was opened through it, enough to fit not just three, but even a dozen at a time.

Since it was "embedded" in the wall, as long as they stayed there, they should be safe from the falling ceiling/floor of the next floor!

"Good!" Axel nodded, satisfied.

The next step was quite obvious.

Axel, Nina, and Fenrir moved there, staying near the back to be safe. He then placed the God's Mineral ceiling into his inventory before running back to where the two were and watching as chaos unfolded.

Right after placing the ceiling into his inventory, he saw the next floor "fall" into the lower floor, crashing with a thundering growl. But of course, that wasn't all of it.

"As expected, there are more golems!"

Seeing the moving figures below, Axel couldn't help but get excited.

Without waiting for Fenrir to send him down, he simply ran down the wall and began catching them with unstoppable momentum. At the same time, he also gathered chunks of the fallen ceiling, collecting everything from dirt, rocks, and rare metals.

All of this was done in a span of five minutes!

After that, with Fenrir's help, they made another "safe house" near the next ceiling, moved there, and repeated the same actions.

It was mechanical precision after that.

Axel would gather the God's Mineral layer, let the ceiling fall, and collect everything that landed on the ground. Starting on the 5th floor, the golems that fell started to break.

The impact of falling from that height down to the first floor's level was just too great; their bodies couldn't withstand the impact upon landing!

This, of course, made Axel's job easier.

In fact, the most difficult thing he had to do was to climb up and down. But with Fenrir's help, that was easily solved too.

Things changed as they reached the 10th floor.

"These... aren't golems..."

The monsters that were guarding the said floor were no longer inorganic materials, but actual monsters. Not demons, but monsters—those who left corpses upon death.

This made Axel a bit disappointed.

But although not as useful as the golems, he still didn't let their corpses go to waste. He gathered everything, up to the last drop!

Hours passed, and the gathering didn't stop. By then, they were already several kilometers up.

With that much distance, they needed Fenrir's movement skill just to go up and down and gather the enemies' corpses.

And, by the way, no monster ever survived that several-kilometer drop at all. Even the big, boss-like monsters died upon landing.

Rather, not even the ceiling was able to keep its shape after crashing.

Although some of them looked even tougher than a Cyclops, making one feel the dedication of the one who made the Labyrinth, it was all cleared in such an unconventional way.

"So this is the last floor?"

And finally, their party reached the top—the ceiling of the 100th floor.

Below them by then was a chasm one square kilometer wide and a few kilometers deep.

The ceiling, unfortunately, was no longer God's Mineral, but just normal dirt. Not to mention, the "area" of the ceiling was quite small.

"After all, that big snake was the last boss?" Axel muttered in wonder.

The last enemy whose corpse they collected (albeit turned into mush) was that of a giant nine-headed snake. It resembled the hydra in legends, but with more heads... and without the regenerative ability.

No, it might've just received so much damage at once that it didn't even have time to regenerate.

Falling several kilometers down and reaching terminal velocity was enough to kill even the toughest monsters, it seemed.

"Well, my inventory's now filled with so many things, anyway... I guess it was good timing." He shrugged.

Even if his inventory eliminated dirt automatically, stone and other minerals and metals remained. He couldn't imagine how much he would gain if he started selling off his loot—what more if he processed them into new products to sell!

"Sir Axel, I see the stairs leading up on the far end," Nina added, pointing to the right.

Looking at where she was pointing, even Axel was able to see it—a partially broken set of stairs leading into the wall and toward somewhere above.

Of course, the distance was over 500 meters, so it would be difficult for them to scale the wall to reach it... especially with a several-kilometer-deep chasm below them.

"Fenrir, can you?"

Thus, they could only rely on their only member who could teleport.

Without saying a word, Fenrir grabbed the two and broke space, reaching the stairs in a literal instant.

"...!"

But as soon as they did, the hair on the back of their necks stood on end.

Even Fenrir went into a battle stance instantly, feeling the substantial threat coming from above the stairs. Killing intent—thick enough that they could literally feel it on their skin.

"As expected..." Axel grinned, cold sweat falling down his temple. "It wouldn't end so easily, huh?"

He could tell instinctively.

Whatever was up there was no friendly being. They were out for blood!

"Everyone, be careful..." he warned as he moved to the back, standing beside Nina. "Fenrir, you head in first. Neutralize the danger and call us when the fight's over," he ordered.

Of course, it wasn't because he was scared of fighting.

Instead, with his newfound strength, he was even itching to battle.

The reason he chose to step back was because he knew that he and Nina would only hold Fenrir back if they tagged along—just like when she fought Vulcanus, or when the chase with Surtr happened.

To Fenrir, rather than letting Axel face danger, handling it alone was the better option. Thus, she didn't object.

"Leave it to me, Master. I'll clean up that trash and return...!"

Of course, despite her brave words, even Fenrir wasn't sure if she could win.

That level of killing intent wasn't something a normal monster could release. Therefore, combined with its large, powerful presence, she predicted that the enemy was as powerful as she was, at least...

If not more.

Slowly, she climbed up the stairs...

"Master, I'm back..."

And in just a few dozen seconds, she returned, bringing the "enemy" from the last floor with her.

"L-Let me go, you bitch...!" the figure growled, but didn't move much.

Fenrir just grabbed her by the nape, immobilizing the enemy. Just as her figure suggested...

"A... cat?"

Axel couldn't believe his eyes.
